LIVE AUCTION AUCTION RULES Each guest is assigned a bidder number upon checking in at the registration table. LIVE AUCTION Bidders must hold up their paddles to signify a bid. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser and will assume full risk and responsibility for the lot. The auctioneer has the right to reject any bid, to advance the bidding at her absolute discretion, and, in the event of any dispute between bidders, to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute. Should there be any dispute after the sale, the auctioneer’s record of final sale shall be conclusive. PAYMENT AND RECEIPT OF ITEMS Guests have the option to pre-register a credit card at check-in. Winning bidders will be presented with an invoice during the dinner, and guests who have not pre-registered will have the option to pay at that time to avoid waiting in line at the conclusion of the event. Merchandise may be picked up outside the ballroom at the conclusion of the dinner. All sales are final and no exchanges or refunds are allowed. Dates for services, vacations, parties, et cetera, are to be arranged by mutual convenience between the donor and purchaser. Time periods designated for use of homes, restaurants, gift certificates, services, hotels, and resorts are not subject to change. Payment for auction items may be made following the sale by personal check, American Express, Visa, or MasterCard. Payment in full, including 8.75% sales tax where applicable, is required. All items must be claimed at the end of the evening unless size or quantity prevents their removal. It has been our intent to describe accurately all items with the information provided to us by our auction contributors. Some restrictions and blackout periods may apply. We reserve the right to withdraw any item prior to sale. Payments for auction items are tax-deductible only as allowed by law. IRS Revenue Ruling #67-246 states that no deduction for an auction purchase price is allowed except to the extent that the taxpayer can show that payment exceeded the fair market value (as listed on the invoice) of an item received or a service rendered. Fair market values have been provided by the contributors of the items. 10 LIVE AUCTION 1 IN THE ZONE WITH THE WARRIORS FOR 20 You’ll be a hero to your family, friends, and co-workers when you invite them to join you to cheer on the unstoppable Golden State Warriors from a premium suite at the Oracle Arena. This is your chance to reserve your spot for the holiday of a lifetime on a one-of-a-kind ship. Two couples, or a family of four, will enjoy 16 days aboard The World as it journeys from Lima, Peru to Santiago, Chile from November 21 to December 5, 2015. On this exclusive voyage you’ll be joining its Residents, who share your taste for adventure and unrivaled personalized service and amenities. Your posh home on this 165-residence “floating luxury city” is a spacious two-bedroom apartment, beautifully appointed and fully furnished, with an expansive balcony from which to relax and watch the world go by. Sixteen days on board The World for 2 couples or a family of 4, from Lima, Peru to Santiago, Chile, November 21– December 5, 2015. Even if you have visited this part of the world before, as a guest on The World, you can experience its magnificence—culturally, historically, and gastronomically—through private tours and secret spots that even locals may not know about. In addition to experiencing the wonders of ports of call like Pisco and Valparaiso, you may choose to venture further afield to the historic city of Cusco and the fabled ruins of Machu Picchu; add to your Life List some of the 850 species of birds found in Manú National Park, the most biodiverse park in the world; or take advantage of expertly guided Zodiac tours of the Ballestas Islands, often compared to the Galápagos. View the islands’ stunning archways and caves, spot Guanay cormorants, Peruvian boobies, and Peruvian pelicans by the thousands, and keep your eyes peeled for Humboldt penguins or Chilean flamingos. Whatever you choose to do, The World’s discreet personalized service surpasses that of a well-staffed estate. An extensive range of onboard activities are available, like playing a few sets on the only full-size tennis court at sea; practicing your swing on the world’s greatest courses on a state-of-the-art golf simulator along with tips from the Ship’s pro; or joining a yoga class on deck. Those seeking more peaceful pursuits can choose from the library’s 4,000 books, indulge at The World Spa & Wellness Center, watch first-run movies, listen to lecturers in the theatre, or shoot some pool on a self-stabilizing, gyroscopic billiard table. You can bring back delicacies from local markets to cook at home, or enjoy world-class dining at one of six restaurants on board. Have a special occasion or are in the mood for a romantic evening? For a unique and truly personalized dining option, The World’s Call-a-Chef™ program will send a chef to your Residence to prepare a delicious meal. An average of three days in port offers a leisurely pace to explore every stop.
