It must be understood by the person that common sense can not be built into the instructions. ( 863 ) 223-1805 Cleaning the printhead without removing it Step 1. Pour some chemical into the small bottle supplied then heat the chemical in a microwave until the chemical is near boiling. Very hot. BE VERYeARFUL NOT TO BURN YOUSElF! 1 Step 2. Remove the cartridges and unplug the printer, Move the cartridge assembly out of the way. look down at the cleaning sponge. Fill it up with some of the hot cleaning fluid them move the print head over this sponge. 2 Step 3. Fill the syringe half way with the hot chemical and push the hose down over the needle of the color that is clogged. Place some paper towel around the hose and hold the towel tight around the hose a slowly push the plunger. You should feel some pressure but the plunger should very slowly go down if not draw back on the plunge and some air and old ink will come up into the syringe. 3 Step 4. To brake the clog you must push down and then draw up on the plunger. WARNING! If you push to hard on the plunger the hose will pop off and the chemical will spray all over you, the printer and your house. Go slowly using an up and down motion. When you feel the chemical going into the printhead then you know the clog has broken loose. 4 Step 5 Using a paper towel wipe up any excess chemical down in the printer. 5 2 , LAST RESORT!. REMOVING THE PRINTHEAD Remove the right hand hinge by spreading it away from the lid. Look to the right the photo shows the hinge rer=cved. There is no need to put this cover !:idCK on the cartridges will lock in without this lid. 1 After move blade hinge you remove the lid and hinge you will need to rethe left hand hinge. See photo. With a small screwdriver open the clip that holds the left in place. Pull up on the panel and remove it. 2 This photo shows a panel on the inside. The panel is down laying flat. You will need to work it up to remove it. Exposing the printhead ribbon cable. 3 On the right side on the cartridge assembly there is a panel that you will need to remove so you can remove the ribbon cable. With a flat blade screwdriver pry open the locking tab and push down on the panel. 4 WARNING! DO NOT REMOVE THIS SMALL RIBBON! Only remove the wider ribbon that connects to the chip board. 5 3 LAST RE.SORT1- RE.MOV\NG THE PR\NTHEAD We have supplied a wire tool to help un-snap the locking clip on each side of the cartridge assembly. There is one on each side and they must be push in one at a time releasing the chip board. See the photo. Push in on one side then pull up then do the same thing on the other side. 6 After you un-lock the small clip on each side you will be able to remove the chip board. 7 Remove the screws hold the printhead in. 8 Once the board is free you can pull it straight up to remove it. Mark the ribbon cable before removing them. 9 4 You can clean out the very tiny holes in the needles if they are plug using the tool supplied. This tool has a very fine wire that will go down into the holes. 13 Pour some hot chemical into the soaking tray and place the printhead face down into the hot chemical. Fill the syringe half way with the hot chemical and push the hose over the needle that is clogged. Put some paper towel around the hose so if the hose pops off it will not spray the chemical all over you and the work place. Go slowly pushing down and then pulling up on the plunger. This will help break the clog. Once the clog is broken you can feel the chemical going into the printhead Hold the printhead over some paper towels and see the spray coming out of the printhead. You may want to clean all the nozzles at this time. Now reverse the order and put the printhead back into the printer. 14 The printhead chemical should be heated to near the boiling point. Be carful not to burn your self. 5
