President’s Message
K R “Ravi”
Ravindra
President
Rotary
International.
The guest speaker for last week’s meeting was Peter Cousens
who spoke on his life's journey in the arts as singer, actor and director. His most recent production being the movie "Freedom"
which has just been released. He is now in the process of developing the script for a movie "Where is Daniel". Peter spoke of the
process to produce a film and it is not unlike a significant construction project in respect to the planning and organisational requirements.
Whilst writing this the installation of the permanent lighting at
Col Storey park was work in progress, this project will reduce the
requirement for working at heights significantly plus the need for
hire of elevated work platforms in the future, the work of all involved is much appreciated.
From all accounts the RYDA program was once again a success, thanks to the Club members who assisted with this.
Pleasing to hear from two more of the NYSF applicants Mikaela Scholte and Max Mogg who were endorsed by Mackay West,
at the meeting.
For the Board members the next meeting is this week at
5.00pm at Boomerang.

A Plea from President Des
The location of the plaque on which the president’s badges are mounted remains a mystery. If you have any ideas
as to it's location, please look diligently. President Des is reluctant to spend the club’s hard earned funds on a replacement until all possibilities to find it are expended..
And More of Last Week’s Activities
Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA)
Last week, another group of grade 11 students were introduced to the risks
and potential consequences of driving a car.
Col Story Park Floodlights Permanently Installed
Two Non-Rotarians and Modern Lithium Batteries make Critical Contributions
Mackay West Rotary is very appreciative of the contributions made by: Mitchell from Ian Ritchie Pty Ltd for his high altitude engineering fitting skills,
 Martin from Noel Fordyce’s Five Star Power Pty Ltd for his high altitude electrical skills,
 Modern Lithium Batteries for allowing Martin to complete the electrical installation, and
 Coates Hire for providing the means of working at high altitude.
Five-Minute Talk Follow-on
After last week’s talk, Matt Edwards, our Club’s own author and publisher, was asked by several members
whether either of his books were available for purchase. As a result, Matt will bring copies of “Armoured” (kids
book - $15) and “Blue Words” (adult book - $25) to this weeks meeting.
Your bulletin editor has read “Armoured” and greatly enjoyed it. It is a fantasy/SciFi novel.
