High school football kickoffs this
week with several big games
scheduled in our area.
The Plainview Bears will travel
to Crossville on Friday night, in a
non-region contest. The two teams
have not played since 2007; Plainview won that meeting 28-7. The
Lions last victory over Plainview
came back in 2002 by the score of
24-21. Plainview leads in wins
between the two schools, with the
all-time record standing at 21-19-1.
The Fyffe Red Devils will host
the Geraldine Bulldogs on Friday
night, in non-region action. Fyffe
holds a slight edge in wins between
the two schools, having won 31
times to Geraldine’s 26. The two
schools have tied three times in the
60 games they have faced off. The
Red Devils defeated Geraldine
32-10 in 2011. Geraldine’s last win
over the Red Devils came in 2008.
Sylvania will host Sardis, also a
non-region game, on Thursday
night. The Rams fell to Sardis 20-7
in 2011. The all-time record
between the two schools stands at
11-9.
In other local high school action,
the Collinsville Panthers will host
Coosa Christian on Thursday night.
Also on Thursday night, Fort Payne
will travel to North Jackson.
On Friday night, the Ider Hornets
will host Addison, North Sand
Mountain host Dade County, (GA),
Pisgah host Sand Rock and the Valley Head Tigers will host Donoho.
