So, what are Varicose Veins?
Spider veins are challenging
to eradicate. Results may
vary. Be realistic with
your expectations.
Varicose Veins are swollen and twisted veins that
are visible just under the surface of the skin. They
appear most commonly in the legs, but also can
develop in other parts of the body. Varicose veins
usually don’t cause major medical problems. They require treatment for pain, skin problems, blood clots,
or other complications. People may choose to have
cosmetic treatment to improve the appearance of
varicose veins.
Spider Veins are a smaller type of varicose vein.
Spider veins are commonly found on the legs and face,
and they usually resemble a spider web or tree branch
in shape. They can be red or blue. Spider veins are
usually not a medical concern.
Reticular Veins are flat blue veins commonly seen
behind the knees or on the thighs. They are typically
larger than spider veins. Spider veins arise from
reticular veins. Reticular veins need to be
eradicated in order to have a good result from
spider vein treatment.

Carrie Drum, RN, BSN
Clinical Aesthetic Specialist at the Rockland Vein Center
Carrie graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelor
of Science in Exercise Physiology. After graduation she
was employed as a personal trainer and Director of Corporate Fitness at numerous locations throughout New York.
She then attended and graduated from Dominican College
with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is licensed in
New York and New Jersey. After nursing school, Carrie
advanced her career to become a critical care nurse and
worked for over 10 years in the emergency room, medical/surgical intensive care units and the cardiac care unit
at Englewood and other local hospitals. She also worked
for Wellness 360 as its Senior Health Advocate, dedicating herself in assisting corporate clients and their families
in finding the best health care in New York City.
In 2010 Carrie began her employment with Rockland
Thoracic and Vascular Associates. She is currently the
Clinical Nurse Coordinator at the Rockland Vein Center,
one of the only accredited vein centers in the region.
Carrie is certified in all types of Sclerotherapy including
Foam Sclerotherapy for larger veins. Carrie is also certified in Botox and Dermal Fillers. She has treated hundreds
of satisfied patients in Rockland and Bergen County.
Carrie is dedicated to having her clients look and feel their
best. She strives to achieve that goal in a comfortable,
medically safe environment.
