Testing… Testing… Testing… It is that time of the year again, FSAT & SAT Testing are upon us. During the next five weeks, all of our students will be participating in some form of Standardized testing. Kindergarten will be taking the SESAT-2 in Reading and Math on April 4th & 5th. First and second grades will be taking the 10th edition of the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT-10) in Reading and Math on April 4th & 5th as well. Fourth and fifth grades will be taking the FSA Reading Computer Based Test (CBT) and 5th Grade will take the Math CBT. Fifth grade will also be taking the FCAT Science on April 12th & 13th. It is important that all boys and girls are in school every day, on time and prepared to learn. On testing days, please make sure your child has a good night sleep followed by a good breakfast. We look forward to honoring our many, many students who made the Honor Roll during the 3rd marking period. If your child is being recognized, you will receive an invitation to this event. Counselor’s Corner Dear Parents, We know that with testing this time of year, our students might start to feel stressed. It’s important that we remind them that they have worked very hard all year long and we are proud of them. We know that they will do great! They are prepared whether they realize it or not. A Message from Ms. Gonzalez On February 22nd, we held our Honor Roll Assembly for the second marking period. Congratulations to the 262 students that were recognized for making the honor roll in grades first through fifth. This number represents 37% of our student population achieving Honor Roll status. Of these students, 57 achieved the Principal’s Honor Roll by earning all A1A’s on their report card. We are counting down the days for the Florida State Assessments. Our 4th and 5th graders will be taking the Writing portion on March 29, 2016. The 3rd graders will be taking the Reading Assessment on March 29th and 30th. The 3rd and 4th graders will be taking the Math Assessment on March 31st and April 1st. During the month of April all our kindergarten through 5th grade students will be participating in some form of formal assessment. The schedule of the April Assessments has been included in this newsletter for you. It is important that all boys and girls are in school everyday, on time and prepared to learn. Classes will resume on March 28th. Daylight Savings Time Follow these helpful tips to help you get through! Maintain a positive attitude as you study. Think about doing well. Go into the test well rested and well fed. Stay relaxed during the test. If you feel tense, close your eyes and take deep breaths. Don’t panic if other students finish first. Work at your own pace. Make sure you arrive on time so that you don’t feel rushed. If you need any additional strategies, please feel free to come by and see me! Good Luck!
