Boyles surface core drilling rigs
Boyles RIGS
Quality available to all
Reliability is an absolute requirement when drilling in remote areas. There is simply
no room for costly downtime. Yet, reliability must be paired with a favorable total cost
of ownership. These were our guiding principles when we developed the new Boyles
surface exploration drilling rigs.
Atlas Copco is the world leader in surface core drilling rigs. For over 100
years, exploration professionals have
depended on our rigs’ ability to withstand the elements and consistently
deliver excellent results – whether
in conditions of extreme heat, cold,
drought, humidity, or altitude.

productivity and competitiveness.
Boyles C6/C6C
FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO TAKE ON ALMOST ANY JOB
The Boyles C6 and Boyles C6C models
represent the most flexible drilling rig
size in the Boyles range. They share the
same depth capacity of 1 200 m and the
powerful feed system, main winch and
Tier III low emission engine to enable
efficient deep drilling. These two models are diffe
rentiated by the mode of
transport – the Boyles C6 being trailer mounted, while the Boyles C6C is
crawler mounted.
Both Boyles C6 and Boyles C6C come
loaded with features that often are optional on other rigs. So wherever you are
drilling, there is a model to fit your needs.

Boyles C8C
a powerful rig with high-altitude capability
Boyles C8C is the most powerful rig in
the Boyles range and yet easy to operate. This rig has a new feed system that
further improves the high productivity
that has become a key characteristic of
the Boyles rigs. Boyles C8C has a depth
capacity of 1 830 m. The newly designed
level-wind wireline winch rolls the wire
evenly across the full width of the drum.
The work environment around the rig
has been carefully considered during
development. All major components
are located to allow easy access during
maintenance. In order to control carbon
emissions, the rig features a modern
Tier III engine.
The rig maintains its strong power and
high performance at high altitude, without the need for an additional high-altitude kit. The whole hydraulic system is
optimized to reduce the effects of low air
pressure in high altitude regions.

All the
benefits
you are looking for in a rig
Reliability
Power
Efficiency
Trouble-free operation. Imagine a rig
that runs free of trouble, day in and
day out. Each and every component of
a Boyles rig is designed to withstand
harsh operational conditions. The result
is more operational hours and longer
lifetime with a minimum of service required. Our rigs are easy to maintain
even in rough terrain, which contributes
further to longer service intervals.
The power to get any job done. The rig
must be powerful enough to drill any
hole, from shallow to deep, regardless
of ground conditions – so that you can
take on any job and keep on drilling.
That is why every Boyles rig comes with
a powerful, Tier III low emission engine.
Because it brings out the full capacity of
the rig, giving you the power to get the
job done.
Collect more core per hour. The feed
system is designed to optimize the penetration speed, generating as much core
result as possible. The fast and strong
rotation unit generates the speed necessary for high-performance drill bits to
cut the rock with the highest penetration
rate. The high torque lets you use alternative drilling methods such as tricone
to get started on a hole.

Many factors are essential to ensure high productivity and low life-cycle cost.
A Boyles rig is a fast and reliable rig that will get the job done, while being
easy to setup, use and maintain – and safe to operate.
Fast setup
Usability
Safety
Fast setup means more time drilling.
Getting the rig ready to drill faster adds
significantly to total productivity. Boyles
rigs have several useful features that
speed up the setup of the rig, including
hydraulic jacks that facilitate rapid rig
positioning and hydraulic mast cylinders that raise the mast quickly. In addi
tion, the foldable top mast on Boyles C6
and Boyles C6C can simplify setup and
transportation of rigs.
Lets you focus on the job at hand. All
key components are accessible from a
user-friendly and intuitive control panel
– ensuring fast and efficient operation.
With all the levers and gauges strategically positioned, the driller can focus on
drilling rather than on where to put his
hands. All setup features are controlled
from a separate valve bank, away from
the control panel, to reduce the risk of
accident during operation.
Personal safety first. The rig is equipped
with pressure rolls on the main hoist,
keeping the wire under control at all
times. Rotation stops automatically if
there are less than three revolutions of
wire on the drum. Together with a stop
function at the top of the mast, this prevents the main wire from getting pulled
into the crown block. Easily accessible
emergency stops and a fire extinguisher
add to the driller’s safety.

Retrieving superior core samples is the
very essence of the drilling operation.
That’s why we have a full range of wire
line and conventional core barrels in the
most commonly used designs.
The core drilling bits are available in the
following diameters: (imperial) A to S,
or (metric) 46 to 146 mm and operate in
every
thing from soft, unconsolidated
soil, to extremely hard and abrasive
rock conditions.
