PARENT Connection - Oct 26 - Rivertown Community Church
ISSUE NO. 8 RIVERTOWN COMMUNITY CHURCH/OCTOBER 26/VOLUME 1 Parent Connection SWITCH is a Student Ministry NOT a youth group. Which means, everything we do we do with the Small Group in mind. Our ultimate goal in SWITCH is for students to be talking about their faith with a trusted adult and their friends. We have 3 core Values that make up the foundation of SWITCH: ATTEND, BELONG and SERVE. We want the student to ATTEND a relevant environment, BELONG to an authentic small group and SERVE an awesome God. We want the student to develop mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, into a fully functioning part of the body of Christ. This is done through creating an environment that is culturally relevant, that partners with the parent in discussing many of the issues teenagers face, and gives Biblical insight on those issues. The primary tool we use to partner with the parent is The Seven Checkpoints, by Andy Stanley and Stuart Hall. These seven checkpoints make up the foundational principles that were developed to be the irreducible minimum every teenager needs to know. NEXT WEEK: ALLmost: Mind Games Week two o f this series will focus on loving God with all of our minds. The “Bottom Line” for this week is: “In order to truly love God with all of our minds, we have to erase the distractions in life and replace them with God’s truth.” This will be a powerful session because o f all the distraction we face on a daily basis. ALLmost: Heart & Soul This week we will be starting a brand new three week series called ALLmost. This series will focus on Checkpoint # 6: Ultimate Authority. This series is designed to help students move from an ALLmost relationship with Jesus to an ALL in relationship. series – Does Jesus have ALL of you or ALLmost all of you?
