PARENT Connection - Nov 9 - Rivertown Community Church
ISSUE NO. 11 RIVERTOWN COMMUNITY CHURCH/NOVEMBER 9/VOLUME 1 Parent Connection ** As a nonbeliever, you had nothing to motivate you to live righteously. You may have searched for purpose and meaning in life but found nothing satisfying. As a believer, however, you are “God’s masterpiece,” which means that his Spirit is working in your life to make you more like Christ and to give you a purpose for living. Ephesians 2:10 describes part of the purpose God has for your life as his child—to do good works by helping others. The amazing and wonderful truth about God’s purpose for your life is that he had plans for you to do good works long before you even existed. He has already scheduled the days and events of your life with the opportunities to tangibly share his love with others. The next time you see a neighbor in trouble, hear about a friend struggling with a problem, notice a coworker or classmate in distress, or see a stranger who genuinely needs a helping hand—take hold of this opportunity God has placed in your path. Let your “good deeds shine” because you are his child. When we take hold of that opportunity it demonstrates Christ in your life and ultimately demonstrates your desire to glorify God. **Excerpt from the New Believer’s Bible; NLT. Tyndale Press NEXT WEEK: NO SWITCH SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES: ALLmost: Follow Through This week we will conclude the series: ALLmost. While this series has focused on Checkpoint # 6: Ultimate Authority, we want the students to understand what it means to “love God with all of their strength.” It’s not enough for the students to love God with ALL of their heart, soul and mind and then not follow through with what God has asked them to do. Loving God with all of their strength involves action, it involves obedience. look at the following verses of Scripture: Ecclesiastes 9:10 and 1 Samuel 10:7. both of these verses give a clear picture of how they are to conduct themselves as Christians. They can’t simply come to church or just read their Bibles, they must take the truths found in scripture and apply them to their lives. When they do this it honor God and it allows the world to see who it is that is living inside of them. You can use the questions below to facilitate discussion with your student.
