About the Auction
The UUCSS Auction is our biggest fundraiser. A wide variety of objects, services and events
are donated by church members and friends and area businesses. When you check in, you will
be given your Auction Number, which you will use to sign up for offerings in the Fixed Price
Auction and for bidding in the other Auctions. The Auction consists of several separate
auctions: The Fixed Price Auction; The Silent Auction (3 parts); and The Live Auction. Plus
you have the opportunity to win more "goodies" through Quickie Boards and Raffles.

Auction Rules and Procedures
Registration
Check in at the registration table in the entrance to the Sanctuary building to receive your bidder
number. You MUST have a bidder number to bid.
Bid Sheets
The bid sheets look like this:
DOO2
Bid
$30
$35
$40
Mardi Gras Dinner Party – 4/17/16 – John Doe
Description of Event, something very exciting.
Place 1
301
250
Place 2
301
Place 3
250
539
To bid, the bidder number is
written in the next blank space
Only even dollar amounts are accepted.
The winner in the silent and live auctions is the person whose bidder number is the last one in each
column. In our example, #539 won one place for $35, and #250 won two places and can bring a
friend to the party. #250 will pay $65 for two places, one at $30 and one at $35.
In the fixed price auction, every spot is the same price, and every spot wins. When all the spots are
filled, that item is closed.
Quickie
Boards
The quickie boards happen simulataneously with the open auction. The bid sheet for each board is
projected onto the wall for 5 minutes. Physical items sold on the quickie boards will be on display at
the front of the sanctuary.
How to Bid
To bid in the fixed price or silent auctions, write your bidder on the bid sheet.
To bid in the live auction hold up your bidder number (you will receive it written large on a piece of
paper when you register.) For items with multiple places, also hold up fingers indicating how many
spaces you want. The auctioneer will call out your bidder number, and the number of space you want.
The recorder will enter this information on the bid sheet.
To bid on a quickie board raise your hand and a runner will bring you a slip of paper. Write down
the dollar amount of your bid, the item number, and your bidder number. The runner will then bring
it back to the quickie board captain, who will record it.
Check Out &
Payment
Check out begins at 8:30 in the foyer. After that time, give your bidder number to one of the check
out people and you will be shown a list of your winnings and the total amount due.
Payments are due on Auction night by cash or check made payable to UUCSS. We cannot accept
credit cards.
Your Receipt will be given to you after you pay.
Items you won can be picked up at the winner’s table in the choir loft. Items not removed by March
21st, 2016 will be donated to a local charity.
Delivery of
Services
All events and services are fulfilled on the honor system. Neither the auction committee nor UUCSS
can enforce these commitments. All donations are assumed to be made in good faith.

digitally restored masterpiece will be presented live at the UUCSS community hall on October 22, 2016, from
6:30 to 9:30 pm. Don't miss this once in a lifetime chance to be among those who will hear this work for the

P022 The Incredible Auction Eventioneering Party!
Bob Hirshon and Laura Nelson
Do you await each year's church auction with mounting anxiety concerning what fun, creative event you can
offer? Do you avoid your email inbox for fear that there will be a guilt-inducing message urging you to submit
your auction item right away, and that the deadline is only days away, and the entire auction may be cancelled
and you can't even come up with a single idea?! Then this party is for you! Party-goers will pull cards
featuring cuisines, hobbies, pop culture touchstones, skills, rituals, holidays, fashions and bizarre wild-cards
they can combine and trade until they achieve the unique and exciting auction event they'll love having and
others will love over-bidding for! Event to be held at the UUCSS community hall one month prior to the next
UUCSS Auction deadline.
P027 Candide Cottage Session
Donna Simonton
My soon-to-be-named little house is hosting its first evening of music making. While "sessions" are
traditionally Irish, at this event, creativity is essential, but it doesn't have to be Irish. Bring a song, instrument,
poem, or something else to share, and expect to participate in creating something new. Food and beverages
provided. This house has two harps, two pianos, a harpsichord, an organ, oboe, recorders, and lots of
percussion to add to the mayhem...even a canine quartet! Date arranged by consensus.
