At A Glance: DOMTAR’S KAMLOOPS MILL Domtar’s Kamloops Mill derives its name from the Secwepemc word “Tk’emlups,” which translates to “where the rivers meet.” Positioned where the North and South Thompson Rivers join in the Canadian province of British Columbia, Kamloops was an ideal locale for early settlers with the abundant wildlife, water and farmland available. The gold rush of the 1800s brought the area its initial prosperity, bringing trade, industry and infrastructure. Considered “Canada’s Tournament Capital,” Kamloops offers world class sporting events and venues, as well as spectacular outdoor recreational resources. In 2013, the Kamloops Mill contributed $5,900 in grassroots giving to the local community.
