Cocchi Americano ($45/750ml) is an apéritivo new to Australia,
but with plenty of history in Italy. Similar to Lillet, it works well on
the rocks, with soda, or with a splash of gin or
Campari or both. vinosita.com.au

harvest bounty
GT contributor and all-round
legend Stephanie Alexander teams
up with Pipers of Penola and Rymill
Coonawarra to present the winery’s
harvest lunch on Saturday 28 April.
A long lunch held on the estate’s
lawns, it’s a satellite event of the
Tasting Australia festival, and
Alexander will speak about her
Kitchen Garden Foundation. It’s $95
a head, all inclusive. rymill.com.au
EVEN MORE HARVEST BOUNTY
Harvest is one of the great
traditional reasons for a rural
community to celebrate, and there’s
no shortage of bucolic attractions
this time of year. Another to mark
on the to-do list is the Daylesford
Macedon Produce Harvest Week,
which runs from 27 April to 6 May.
The popular country Victorian
destination is hosting dinners,
tastings, farm tours, cheesemaking,
baking and gardening
demonstrations and more, all
against an attractively autumnal
backdrop. dmproduce.com.au
ON A ROELOFS
This month marks the second
anniversary of the dessert
evenings hosted by pastry prodigy
Pierre Roelofs at Rosamond in
Melbourne’s Fitzroy. Roelofs serves
three new desserts each Thursday
night and says that by 19 April he
will have created 250 unique sweet
dishes for the project. “Nobody
seems to ask if it’s a pop-up any
longer.” pierreroelofs.com

region as religion
Have you got a taste for exploring
Italy’s regions in more detail?
Australia’s restaurants are here to
help; many of our favourite Italian
chefs and restaurateurs regularly
put the spotlight on individual
regions with special events.
Melbourne’s Scopri and Sosta
Cucina both fly the flag with
dinners, Maurizio’s in Perth has its
Il Giro d’Italia calendar, and Pilu at
Freshwater now offers a series of
city-specific mid-week lunch deals
(Rome, Naples and Cagliari all
feature this month). Its fellow
Sydneysider, Vini, has been doing
