Congregational Retreat: October 3-5, 2014
Please plan to join the community of First
Presbyterian Church - old and young, married and
single, long-time members and new members alike
- for the annual Congregational Retreat at Montreat,
October 3-5. Program highlights include: S’mores
on Friday night • Interactive, intergenerational
program for older elementary children, youth
and adults Saturday morning • Program-oriented
childcare for children thru 2nd grade • A variety
of recreational activities and free time Saturday
afternoon • Barbecue dinner and ice cream social
Saturday night • Hymn singing followed by casual
worship with communion Sunday morning.
Programing begins at 7:30 Friday night and
concludes by 11:00 on Sunday morning.
We are excited to have The Reverends Pete and
Margaret Peery as our program leaders for this year’s
retreat. Known to our congregation
as Pen’s parents and Wells, Tyler,
Eliza and Liam’s grandparents, Pete
and Margaret are both Presbyterian
Ministers with deep experience in
a variety of ministry settings. They
live in Montreat, where Pete is
concluding his tenure as President
of the Montreat Conference Center.
They will lead us in a program
celebrating the history, opportunities and life of
Montreat. Our time together will include large
group meetings as well as concurrent smaller group
programs such as Bible Study, crafts, and tours of
points of interest in Montreat.
Lodging
There are various options available for lodging.
Enjoy the convenience of Assembly Inn (newly
renovated in 2014!), sleep under the stars in the
Montreat Campground, or join with other individuals
and families and rent a private home.
• Assembly Inn has single-, double- and triple-occupancy rooms. Cribs for infants are complimentary. Linens and room cleaning are provided. Cost is $179 per room for the
weekend. Wireless connection is available in the lobby.
• Middle and High School Youth and advisors will stay in Winsborough Lodge. Total youth retreat cost is $130 per person which includes lodging, meals and retreat fee.
• Sites at the Montreat Campground are available for rent. Call 800.572.2257 for rates
and reservations. Also, there are private homes around Montreat that are available for rent.
