The new generation of KTM SX offers state-of-the-art technology
combined with class-leading performance and the lowest weight
in each class, which will set a new benchmark for motocross
machines. A full range of new 4-stroke engines, plus a new 125cc
2-stroke, have been developed to work perfectly together with
state-of-the-art suspension from WP bolted on to both ends of
a completely new frame and covered with heavily redesigned
bodywork. These developments for the already world dominating
machines will mark a major step forward when it comes to performance, rideability and weight. The goal was simple; KTM engineers
wanted to make their new bikes faster than ever before. To achieve
this, over 90% of the parts are new compared to previous models.

INTRODUCTION
Across the water in North America, KTM took the 250cc West Supercross title in the hands of Jason Anderson, while also taking
the manufactuer’s second AMA Motocross outdoors championship under the steer of Ken Roczen with the 450 SX-F, which
highlights the adaptability of KTM’s bikes in numerous types of terrain and formats.
The 2015 Supercross season has been another major racing milestone for KTM as Ryan Dungey dominated the 450cc class to
become KTM's first-ever 450 Supercross World Champion thanks to the huge step forwards in development with the SX machines and a consistent determination from the Austrian manufacturer to win this prestigious series. This motivation was also
confirmed in the 250SX East Championship as Dungey’s teammate, Marvin Musquin, made it a double Supercross success this
year for KTM after claiming six wins plus two podiums from eight rounds to clinch the title.

In addition, KTM can boast numerous European Motocross titles in 2014 including the 65cc, 85cc and the EMX250 series, plus
many, many national wins, which concrete the brand promise READY TO RACE. Much of the R&D for the production bikes is
filtered from a strong and comprehensive racing program, which is central to the success of the SX range. Not only that, the
factory bikes are fully and fundamentally based on the production versions – which is more than obvious with the many race
wins and championship successes achieved by those on standard machines straight out of the dealer.

KTM IS RECOGNIZED AS THE GLOBAL DOMINATOR IN OFFROAD and, with more than 250 world championships to its
name, the company can be sure that its products are capable of fighting through the toughest of terrain and overcoming the
most intense battles. In 2014, Antonio ‘Tony’ Cairoli took KTM’s nimble 350 SX-F machine to 15 wins during the season to
clinch the Austrian firm’s fifth consecutive MXGP championship – the elite class at the FIM World Motocross championship.
After an intense and emotional championship, Jordi Tixier took the honors aboard 250 SX-F machinery for KTM’s seventh consecutive FIM MX2 World Championship win, while teammate Jeffrey Herlings took a close second place with 23 race wins to his
name. The Red Bull KTM factory duo took 25 of the 34 moto wins available. It was another outstanding season for the Austrian
brand with both World Motocross Championship Manufacturers’ titles to its name.

EXHAUST
FIM noise limits are a real challenge for every manufacturer; therefore KTM has put a lot of effort into the
development of the new exhaust systems. For MY 2016
all 4-strokes are fitted with new header pipes including
a unique standard feature; the additional resonator
system – a small chamber connected with the pipe.
For the 450 SX-F, the engineers developed a further
advanced version called FDH (Flow Design Header) that
for this model also provides better engine performance
and reduced noise. In terms of noise, all 4-strokes are
fitted with a reworked and shorter silencer (250 by 40mm,
350/450 by 80mm) providing a snappier power delivery,
with a design that contributes to improved mass centralization for better rideability. The 125 and 150 SX models
also feature a new exhaust pipe and silencer.

FOR MY 2016 KTM HAS INTRODUCED COMPLETELY NEW FRAMES
for all motocross models (except 250 SX), which are made of high-tech
lightweight chrome-moly steel material in various profiles and feature
reworked geometries for better handling and rideability. Compared to the
MY 2015 SX, the new frame design provides approximately 20% higher
torsional rigidity (triangle profiles tubes are 6 mm wider and 2mm lower)
and 30% less longitudinal stiffness, with newly designed engine stays for
less vibration. This increased flexibility results in better absorption of the
energy created from the front and rear wheel loads supporting the suspension for more comfort and less rider fatigue. It’s around 380g lighter than the
previous model, around 1kg less than the lightest competitor and has been
designed with easy maintenance in mind. The subframe is also around 20%
lighter than the previous model and is made of new aluminum profiles.

AIRBOX
The revised airbox design offers
maximum protection of the air
filter against soiling, while ensuring
maximum airflow in conjunction with
300g lighter intake snorkels that are
made of a new material (reducing the
deformation due to air intake pulses)
for improved performance. As found
on previous models, the Twin Air
filter can be changed without tools in
seconds, a standard, original feature
by KTM. The simple design also
minimizes incorrect installation of the
filter and cage.

FOOTPEGS
A new sophisticated "NO-DIRT"
footpeg solution prevents dirt from
blocking the pegs in order to bring
them back into position, even when
digging in deep ruts. In addition these
footpegs are larger and more stable,
provide better grip and they are also
lighter than on previous models.
FUEL TANK
All models of the SX range have new
lightweight polythene tanks with a
capacity of 7.0 liters of petrol. The
filler cap with an inside thread makes
for easy and reliable closure. The
4-stroke models are fitted with an
integrated fuel pump system.

COOLING SYSTEM
The proven integrated KTM cooling system routes the coolant
from the cylinder head through the frame triangle, directly to
newly developed aluminum radiators made by WP, which have
a new filler cap system and are made of a stiffer alloy. Due
to flow optimized internal circulation and CFD calculated air
ventilation, the cooling efficiency has been improved by approximately 10% and the sophisticated radiator guards provide
efficient protection in case of crashes.
SEAT
Ergonomically perfect, the new seat has a higher foam
volume, which offers great comfort and durability at the
same time, while weighing the same as the previous model.

High-tech Brembo brakes have always been standard
equipment on KTM offroad bikes for best possible power
and feel. These are now combined with redesigned and
weight-reduced Wave discs made by GALFER, that also
feature an improved heat resistance – the ultimate
solution in braking technology.

LAUNCH CONTROL
For the first time all 4-stroke models feature a newly developed launch
control, which provides more efficient starts out of the gate. It reduces the
maximum engine speed for the very first moment of the start to give better
control.

WHEELS
The KTM wheels use lightweight, CNC machined hubs,
high-end Excel rims and new, weight reduced spokes with
lightweight aluminum nipples that provide maximum stability at minimum weight. The wheels are fitted with the
latest MX tires from Dunlop (Geomax MX 32). These tires
have been developed with KTM factory racing in the USA,
factory testing and expert rider feedback in racing. They
guarantee perfect traction and outstanding performance.

HANDLEBAR
The latest generation SX models are equipped with a new tapered
handlebar made of high-strength aluminum by NEKEN, which is
fixed in a new rubber damped clamp allowing the bars to be mounted
in two different positions.

As in the past, all SX-F engines are fitted with the proven electric starter – a unique KTM feature and a major
benefit at all levels of motocross racing. For MY 2016 the SX-F range fits a super compact and lightweight 495g
lithium-ion starter battery made by Samsung into a standard motocross bike, providing safe starting of the engine
and reducing the weight by 1kg over MY 2015! Data: 12.8V, 2.2Ah, 90x90x51mm

BODYWORK
For the new generation of SX models the KTM factory
riders were involved in shaping the bodywork together
with the specialists from KTM R&D and Kiska Design.
The goal was to achieve complete harmony between
rider and bike down to the finest details. The results
are all-new plastics that provide perfect ergonomics
and contact points for the rider, maximum freedom
of movement, a lower seat height of between 10 to
20mm (rear end) and better comfort, especially
in the rear part of the seat.
The right fork leg integrates a completely new damping cartridge to fit single
damping leg requirements, and the damping can be adjusted to the track
conditions or the rider’s preferences with a twist of a dial (compression from top,
rebound from bottom, 30 clicks each).

The new forks with approximately 300mm travel have outstanding response and
damping characteristics, while also with a reduced weight of 1.4kg compared to
the bladder fork of MY 2015. This is a benefit that every rider will certainly feel.

The US models feature the advanced WP 4CS four-chamber forks, which was
successfully introduced for MY15 (the 450 SX-F won the MXA shoot-out). The forks
have been specifically designed and adapted for the motocross riding conditions
in the USA and for MY 2016 it has improved settings.

The left leg features a two-chamber system with a capsuled air cartridge to prevent loss of air pressure e.g. spring force. This means in the case of a leaking outer seal, the internal cartridge pressure keeps the bike in position. The air spring
is easy to adjust to any rider weight via a single air valve. No special tools are
required; a standard fork air pump is enough (available also as a KTM POWERPARTS
featuring an extra precise scale). The maximum air pressure is 12 bar.

All EU models are fitted with revolutionary new and super-lightweight WP AER 48
forks – 48mm USD air-spring forks developed by WP Suspension in close collaboration with KTM. It is a split fork system with separate functions for each fork leg.

The linkage system has also been reworked with a revised geometry,
which was tested last season in most of the KTM factory bikes.
WEIGHT REDUCTION
The main target for the KTM engineers when developing the new
SX generation was a massive weight reduction in conjunction with
improved handling. The reduction result of between 4 and 5kg
is outstanding making the new KTM models the lightest bikes in
the competition, even though the 4-strokes are equipped with a
super-beneficial electric starter as a standard feature, while the
competitor models need to be kickstarted.

TRIPLE CLAMP
Top quality, CNC machined triple clamps have been something
of a KTM trademark for years. Ensuring precise handling, they
perceptibly support the flex characteristics and, with it, the
action of the forks. For MY16 the upper triple clamp features
a newly developed rubber damping system for the handlebar
clamp in order to reduce the vibration level of the bars.
The clamps retain their forward and back adjustability
for any rider preference.

250 SX-F ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The completely reworked Keihin Engine Management System, with
electronic fuel injection, features an all-new 44mm throttle body, which
provides a spontaneous response and maximum performance thanks to a
revolutionary injector position.
Powered by a 100g lighter AC generator made by Kokusan, the EMS also
features a new lightweight and faster processing ECU. This new ECU
includes a launch control for more efficient starts with the provision of
different maps according to the gear sensor selection. In addition, the
rider can activate an optional map for a different power delivery via the
map select switch on the handlebar.

In order to balance the mass-forces the new
250 SX-F engine uses a multifunctional
counter balance shaft, which at the same
time drives the water pump and timing
chain. It features new sprockets fitted to the
new timing chain.
250 SX-F ELECTRIC STARTER
The new 250 SX-F is again fitted with an electric
starter as standard, which is well known as a clear
advantage when it comes to crunch time in the heat
of battle. A new starter motor made by Mitsuba and
a weight reduced starter drive guarantees more
efficient and reliable starting.
Not only that, the optional User-Setting-Tool allows to readout engine data
with a laptop and change the ignition and injection mappings with a few
mouse clicks.

250 SX-F CRANKSHAFT
The new 250 SX-F’s crankshaft features a stiffer design and employs
a 6mm shorter connecting rod, contributing to the compact and light
engine with an instant power delivery. A plain big end bearing features
two force-fitted bearing shells run directly on the crank pin. This design
is a major prerequisite for the extremely high engine speed levels and the
unrivalled maximum power of the 250cc engine. Not only that, it enhances
the engine’s durability, allowing long crankshaft service intervals, which
is a huge customer benefit in relation to time, effort and cost.
250 SX-F CLUTCH
The highly compact CSS clutch (coil spring steel) has numerous new
features for MY 2016.
» Weight reduced, wear-free steel basket, and now seven instead
of eight clutch plates, which are extremely heat resistant due to
their steel carrier discs.
» New clutch springs with new spring rates are made of a new material
that offers a more consistent behavior under heavy use and over time.
» Reworked inner hub and a pressure plate to guarantee a better oil
supply along with even better cooling of the clutch. A smaller master
cylinder diameter of the Brembo hydraulic system provides easier
and precise modulation.

With the arrival of the new generation 350 SX-F the success story can continue. The dominance with which this machine
has won one world championship title after another is certainly unrivaled. Since Tony Cairoli’s first win in the 2010 MX1
World Championship, his first year as a KTM factory rider on the 350 SX-F, the Red Bull athlete from Sicily has dominated the class with five consecutive world championships at the top tier of motocross aboard this nimble, but powerful
bike including many, many race wins. The bike itself comprises of almost as much power as a 450, but with the agility
of a 250 – so the basic idea is easily summarized, and has been a concept with success from the start.

For MY 2016 everything is new: chassis, suspension, bodywork and the fuel injection with a more powerful engine. The

The new DOHC (double overheard camshaft) engine of the 350 SX-F,
which shares the same layout as the smaller capacity 250 SX-F,
features a completely new construction in order to make it even more
compact and powerful than before. Fitted with the latest electronic fuel
injection system and electric starter, it has a very wide usable speed
range, high performance and incredibly efficient rideability. The new
design made the engine 20mm shorter than previously, while reducing
the weight by 1kg to only 27.2kg.

The new 350 SX-F’s crankshaft is lighter and features a stiffer design
than previously. It utilizes a shorter connecting rod, contributing to the
compact and light engine with a typically snappy power delivery. A plain
big end bearing features two force-fitted bearing shells run directly on
the crank pin. This design is a major prerequisite for the extremely high
engine speed levels and the unrivalled maximum power of the 350cc
engine. Not only that, it enhances the engine’s durability, allowing long
crankshaft service intervals – a customer benefit in respect of time, effort
and cost.

350 SX-F CYLINDER HEAD
The new cylinder head features an improved combustion chamber
geometry, two overhead camshafts with a friction-optimized super-fine surface, new finger followers with a 30% harder DLC coating and high-flow ports. In conjunction with new valve springs
and retainers for the four lightweight titanium valves (intake
36.3mm, exhaust 29.1mm) the flow rate has been maximized for
an optimal power band, with more performance across the entire
range, which ends at an engine speed of 13,400rpm. The peak
performance now is at 58hp. New lateral brackets allow a
more efficient fixation of the engine to the frame.

with metal shims instead of seal rings reduces
space in the crank room and reduces the engine
width. A shorter primary ratio (31/76 instead of
32/76) reduces the shaft distance, which also
contributes to the compact dimension.

range, it is 17.2kg in total, which is more than 2kg lighter than the predecessor while also being

Within the heart of the new engine is a freshly designed cylinder that has a
bore of 54mm. Apart from reworked ports, it features a newly developed power
valve unit with a sophisticated mechanism for the lateral support exhaust ports.
Together with a new two-component cylinder head, this is the key for a massive
performance increase over the entire range. Even though it is 360g lighter and
more compact than the previous model, the new layout of the water jackets in the
cylinder and head guarantee a better heat dissipation, which is important when
the going gets tough.

A new 6-speed transmission provides the same gear ratios as the
previous model, but due to the latest production technologies the
width could be reduced by 6mm and the weight decreased by 200g.
An advanced “NO-DIRT” gear lever design prevents dirt from blocking
the joint of the lever guaranteeing safe activation of the transmission.
150 SX ENGINE
The newly developed 150cc engine for MY 2016 features a completely revised architecture with the latest
know-how and state-of-the-art technology. The result is that it produces better power across the rev range,
it’s more than 2 kg lighter than the predecessor and it is much more compact. The benefit for the rider will be
reflected in faster lap times due to better rideability and higher performance. This motorcycle shares many of
its key components with the class-leading 125 SX – including the piston, cylinder head, and cylinder (which
has a bore of 58mm instead of the 125 SX’s 54mm). These parts can now also be fitted on a 125cc engine
base converting it to a 150 SX without replacing the crankshaft. The new crankshaft provides the same stroke

The 65 SX is a fully-fledged piece of sports equipment for young pilots
aged around eight to 12 years, up to a body height of 1,60m. The new
generation of 65 SX featuring an all new bodywork and a lot of detail improvements defines a new standard of its class in terms of power, riding
dynamics, equipment and craftsmanship. Like its larger counterparts,
this bike is truly READY TO RACE for its young competitors.
The 11 to 15-year old riders of the junior class are no longer beginners.
These are future champions fighting for victory, no matter if it is the
Junior World Championship or a regional championship. In this scene,
the 85 SX is considered a winner’s bike. With the most powerful engine
in the field and a super lightweight, stable chassis, it does not need to
