The AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program awards students living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis and who
strive to sustain an optimal level of wellness, allowing them to excel and inspire others to do the same.

BC 4-H Provincial Scholarships
Open to all 4-H members who are completing grade 12 (or have completed grade 12), have not previously
received a provincial 4-H scholarship, are planning to enrol in post-secondary education by December 31st
annually, have achieved in 2 years within the last 3 years in 4-H and have been registered as a 4-H member
within the last 2 years are encouraged to apply.

BC Recreation and Parks Association Scholarships
The objective of the BCRPA student scholarship program is to ensure future quality leadership through the
provision of financial support to emerging leaders enrolled in recreation and parks related studies throughout

Be The Boss
Over the past decade, Be The Boss has experienced tremendous success in helping savvy investors purchase
the right business for their lifestyle. To give back to the community and foster the next generation of
entrepreneurs, Be The Boss has developed the Future of Franchising award.
Four awards, valued at $1000 each, will be awarded on August 1, 2014 to post-secondary students with an
interest in franchising. To be eligible, you must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident full-time in postsecondary studies.
Please submit a 500-600 word commentary on the importance of franchising, including what it means to you
and your community. This should be a unique piece of writing to you. Entries must include the following to be
considered complete: Your full name, address and telephone number, as well as your post-secondary school,
program and expected graduation date.

Brian Grant Award
The Ministry of Environment, the Recycling Council of British Columbia (RCBC) and the British Columbia
Chapter of Solid Waste Association of North America (BC Chapter SWANA) have established a posthumous
award to recognize the work of Brian Grant in advancing solid waste management in British Columbia. The
Brian Grant Award is for $1,500. Eligible students must be currently enrolled in a full-time college or university
program and have completed at least one undergraduate year in environmental science, engineering, or other
suitable major related to the field of solid waste management, industry product stewardship or recycling.

Canadian Federation of Sexual Health
Action Canada offers a number of awards and scholarships. These awards and scholarships reward excellence

Canadian Federation of University Women Comox Valley
Eligible candidates must be full-time female students working on a first degree, and entering second, third or
fourth year of a bachelor program to a degree at an accredited Canadian college or university, OR transferring

The Canadian Federation of University Women/Parksville and Qualicum offers a variety of scholarships and

CHF BC Scholarship Fund
The Co-Operative Housing Federation of BC works to support the community of housing co-ops in BC. The
purpose of the CHF BC Scholarship Fund is to support the educational goals of co-op members, particularly
young co-op members who are already making a contribution to their communities. Scholarships can be
awarded to students graduating from high school and planning to enrol in a college, university, or
apprenticeship program students already enrolled in a college, university or apprenticeship program; and
students returning to school after a break in their education.

CMSA Scholarship Program 2016
Undergraduate students in any year of a recognized, full-time B.Sc. program in Agriculture and/or Food
Science at a Canadian University, interested in studying Meat Science in Canada, are eligible to apply for the
Ronald A. Chisholm Undergraduate Scholarship.

Commissionaires BC Bursary Opportunities
Commissionaires BC is a Canadian not-for-profit organization and one of 16 divisions across the country that
offers a wide range of security services. Everything we do to protect our community and country supports
those who serve and have served. Therefore, we aim to provide meaningful employment to former members
of the Canadian Forces and RCMP. Must be a person, an immediate family member or descendant of a person
who works or has worked for Commissionaires BC, OR who served in the Canadian forces, the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police, or the Canadian Merchant Marine. Consideration will also be given to persons who served in

Credit Union Foundation of BC Awards
The Credit Union Foundation of British Columbia is the provincial wide philanthropic organization of the credit
union system founded and funded by British Columbia credit union members. Each year the Credit Union

Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships at Harvard University
Up to three (3) Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships will be awarded to students from Canada for graduate study
at Harvard University in the academic year 2016-2017.In establishing the Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship
program at Harvard University, Annie Reid Knox sought to honor her late husband and his lifelong
commitment to America. According to the wishes of Mrs. Knox, Frank Knox Memorial Fellows are selected on
the basis of outstanding academic excellence, strength of character, and potential for leadership in their fields.

Government Finance Officers Association – Scholarships for Full and Part
Time Students
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada, which serves
government finance professionals throughout those countries, is pleased to announce the Daniel B. Goldberg
Scholarship, Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship, Minorities in Government Finance
Scholarship and the Government Finance Professional Development Scholarship.
Candidates for these scholarships should have a superior record of academic achievement and/or job
performance and show promise of completion of their studies at a high level of performance. In addition,
candidates should have plans to pursue a career in state or local government finance.

Irving K. Barber Transfer Scholarship
The Ike Barber Transfer Scholarship program is open to students who after completing two years of study at
an eligible sending institution, must transfer their credits into full-time studies at another public postsecondary institution in BC to complete their degree. Successful applicants must clearly demonstrate academic

James Craig Reid Memorial Scholarship
Given to one student who graduated from a District 69 secondary school or lived in District 69 for at least
three years. Candidates should be entering their fourth year of study or beyond in a Canadian university
academic program. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Music, Fine Arts, Liberal Arts or
Education. The award will be paid and applied directly to tuition and book fees.

LGMA Ken Dobell Public Service Education Fund Scholarship
The Ken Dobell Public Service Education Fund Scholarship has been established to encourage students with an
interest in federal, provincial, local government or First Nations administration and policy studies to pursue
post-secondary opportunities.

Live Your Dream Award
The Live Your Dream Award is an annual program that begins at the local Soroptimist club level, where award
amounts vary. Club recipients become eligible to receive region–level awards, which are granted through
Soroptimist’s 28 geographic regions. Each Soroptimist region grants one first-place award for $5,000. Eligible
applicants must be women who provide the primary financial support for their families, and who are enrolled
in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need, and cannot have already earned an undergraduate degree. Only

Lotus Light Charity Scholarship
The Lotus Light Charity Society’s annual scholarship program has recognized some of the brightest and most
community-conscious students since 1993. The scholarship recipients had achieved excellency in academic
performance and at the same time actively involved in community volunteer programs in local, national or
international levels.

The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund (MMMF)
Since 1981, the MMMF, a US based 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity has awarded over 285 education grants
to women from developing countries who demonstrate a commitment to improving the wellbeing of women
and children in the developing world. The purpose of these grants is to provide financial resources for the
completion of academic degrees to women who are enrolled in designated universities. Since 1981 many
MMMF grantees studying at universities in the US and Canada are from over 70 developing countries, but we
seek to provide financial support to more women students.

Masonic Bursary Fund – Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon
The Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon, through their Bursary Fund, annually grants a number of
bursaries to students residing in British Columbia and Yukon and attending institutions in British Columbia and
Yukon. Consideration will be given to students attending other institutions if similar programmes or courses
are not offered in British Columbia and Yukon. Masonic Bursaries are intended to assist the advanced postsecondary education of promising young people who otherwise would not be able to continue their education
in full-time graduate and/or diploma courses. Although consideration is given to scholastic standing, Masonic
Bursaries are granted primarily on the basis of financial need.

Media & Arts Scholarship for South Asian Youth
Through generous donations from the television community in Canada, we have successfully raised funds to
send outstanding youth of South Asian origin, living in Canada, who wish to pursue an education in media or
arts, to a Canadian university or qualified post-secondary institute.

The National Union of Public and General Employees Scholarships
Each year, the National union of Public and General Employees offers four scholarships that reflect its pursuit
of equal opportunity for all workers. They are open to the children for the National Union’s 340,000 members
who are starting at post-secondary education.

Out On Bay Street Scholarship Awards
Out On Bay Street is committed to recognizing excellence in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer &

Pacific Leaders Scholarships for Children of Public Servants
Every year up to 60 scholarships of $2500 each will be offered to children of public servants who are full-time
students and taking a bachelor’s degree program, trade, technical or vocational training. If you are a qualified

Public Guardian and Trustee of BC Educational Assistance Fund
The purpose of the Fund is “to assist any beneficiary selected under the provisions of the Trust to further his
or her educational goals, whether academic or vocational, provided that the bursary shall not be used as a
sole means of support but rather as a supplement to existing funding.”

Return to School Bursary for Women
To a female student from District 69 resuming their education immediately following an absence of at least
two consecutive years. They must be registered at an accredited Canadian school/college/university where

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards
The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards (formerly the Women’s Opportunity Awards) assists women who
provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to
improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

Veronica Bailey Chapter AQ British Columbia Award
The Veronica Bailey Chapter AQ Scholarship was established in 2005 in memory of Veronica Bailey who was a
charter member of P.E.O. Chapter AQ on the North Shore. This award has been established to provide
financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who wish to resume their postsecondary studies. The award is open to women attending Capilano University and residing in Greater
Vancouver and who can demonstrate need for financial assistance to achieve their educational goals. Please

British Columbia Wildlife Federation Scholarship
The BC Wildlife Federation is pleased to offer a scholarship to a BC resident and a student attending a credited
university or college in the sciences or related outdoors field in the upcoming Spring term. This scholarship
was made available from a generation donation by American Income Life.

Burnaby Historical Society Scholarship
Annually available to an undergraduate student attending an accredited BC university or college and enrolled
in a major or an honours program that specializes in Canadian history, with preference given to the history of
BC. Apply in writing, outlining studies to date, provide an essay or an example of research done and include a
current academic transcript plus letters of recommendation from two instructors at the university or college
the candidate is attending. Submit to The Burnaby Historical Society Scholarship Committee, c/o Burnaby

ISEE Western Canadian Chapter - Dick Shaw Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student attending a college or university in Western Canada
who is studying a subject with some relevance to the non-military use of explosives or blasting. We are flexible
about the subject providing the applicant has an interest in pursuing a career that could involve blasting.
Students may be at any level. The applicant does not need to have any link to the Chapter or explosives
industry and does not need to come from Western Canada, providing he or she is studying here.

The C.D. Howe Scholarship Endowment Fund National Engineering
Scholarship
The C.D. Howe Memorial Foundation is offering up to two undergraduate scholarships (one to a male student
and one to a female student) valued at $7,500 CAD for students enrolled in an engineering program in a
Canadian university. The candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have completed
the first year of an engineering program. Each Dean or Department Head from each eligible institution may
nominate one male and one female candidate.

BC Export Award for International Business Studies
In a continued effort to foster an export culture in Canada, and create a workforce that is globally minded, the
BC Export Award Committee is pleased to offer the 2014 International Business Studies Award.
This Award recognizes students who have demonstrated leadership, excelled in their international business
studies (be it international business, finance, relations or economics) and have made a significant contribution
to the export community in BC. To be eligible, students must be attending a post-secondary school in BC in
their final two years of the program and be actively involved in programs that involve international studies.

CGA Continuing Education Tuition Scholarship
The Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia annually awards CGA Continuing Education
Tuition Scholarships to graduates of the accounting programs at Capilano University. The scholarship will be
credited toward tuition fees when the recipient enrols in the Prerequisite Education Program or the
Professional Education Program of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.

Ellen Bell YMCA Memorial Scholarship

This program develops professional BC artists by assisting with the post-secondary education of outstanding
students of the arts.

Hornby Island Blues Society – Scholarships and Bursaries
The Hornby Island Blues Society’s (HIBS) Blues Music scholarship, Banky Bursary and Casat Bursary were
created to inspire apprentice musicians within the Hornby community and beyond to achieve a greater
awareness of the dynamic nature of the structure, history and creative components of Blues and Roots music.
The funding provides an opportunity for learning in an encouraging and safe environment.

James Lee Foundation Scholarship
The scholarship is open to emerging creative talent from across Canada wanting to enter into the advertising
industry. Entrants must be non-professional Canadian residents over the age of 16. All fields of creativity
related to the advertising community will be considered. (e.g. writers, art directors, film makers, recording
artists, illustrators, digital arts, etc.)

2015 Kwi Am Choi Exhibition Scholarship Fund
In 2007 the family of talented artist Kwi Am Choi endowed the Port Moody Arts Centre Society (PMACS) with
funds to create the Kwi Am Choi Scholarship Fund. The fund was established to provide encouragement and
support to emerging artists between the ages of 15 and 30. The objectives of the fund are to further the skills
and experiences of student artists, to expand their artistic careers, and to enable them to better promote their
work. This is to be done by covering the costs of mounting a solo exhibition of their work at the Port Moody
Arts Centre.

Music BC Charitable Foundation - Burt Harris Memorial Scholarship
A minimum of one scholarship award will be given to an individual age 25 and under who can show financial
need and exceptional ability, to help pay for private instruction in Canada for a musical instrument. And a
minimum of one scholarship award will be awarded to an individual age 25 and under who can show a
financial need and exceptional ability, to help pay for tuition for a music program at a post-secondary
institution.

Megan Newton Memorial Award in Theatre
The Megan Newton Memorial Fund has been set up by Meg’s family and colleagues to honour her spirit and
resourcefulness through an award for students in theatre.

Musicians’ Dream Aid Scholarship
Musicians’ Dream Aid is proud offer an annual scholarship for young musicians. The MDA Scholarship must be
used towards the tuition of a music school or program. Applicants must submit videos of two contrasting
performances, and these are judged by an adjudicator. This year we are offering our winner a scholarship of
$500 CAD and our runner-up a scholarship of $200. The deadline for applications is June 11th, 2016.

The Performing Arts Bursary
The Performing Arts Bursary will be awarded to two individuals enrolled at a recognized post-secondary
institution in a formal performance arts program, anywhere in the world. Applicants must have graduated
from a secondary school in Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore or Belcarra to apply.

Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre Awards
The Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre administer an awards program for new writers, media
artists, folk artists and musicians.

Vancouver Opera Guild Career Development Grant - Singers
The Vancouver Opera Guild will disburse a $6,000 Career Development Grant. This Grant will be available to
Canadian Citizens and those with Landed Immigrant status between the ages of 20 and 33 years. The purpose
of the Grant is to help people involved with, or preparing for, a career in the performance area of opera, to
improve their skills or to work on a personal project related to opera.
The 2015 Grant is available for singers only. Those involved in Production (stage management, directing,
costumes, set design, etc.) may apply for the 2017 Grant in the Fall (November) of 2016.

Development
B.C. Associated Boards of Health, Dr. Ken Benson Memorial Bursaries
This bursary was established by The Associated Boards of Health with funds which they had raised prior to
their dissolution in 1997. The bursary is named in honour of Dr. Ken Benson who, during a long career in
public health in British Columbia, was a Medical Officer of Health, an Associate Deputy Minister and public
health consultant to the Associated Boards of Health of British Columbia.
The funds are managed by the Vancouver Foundation and the Bursary funds will be released to a successful
applicant(s) annually on the recommendation of the Health Officers’ Council. The Health Officers’ Council is
comprised of the Medical Health Officers and public health physicians of British Columbia.

The Early Childhood Educators of BC Bursary
The Early Childhood Educators of BC has received funding from the Ministry of Children and Family
Development to establish a bursary fund for students enrolled in early childhood educational programs.

The Isabel Loucks Foster Public Health Bursary Fund
The Isabel Loucks Foster Public Health Bursary fund has been set up to provide bursary funding for public
health post-graduate studies. The funds are managed by the Vancouver Foundation and the Bursary funds will
be released to a successful applicant(s) annually on the recommendation of the Health Officers’ Council. The
Health Officers’ Council is comprised of the Medical Health Officers and public health physicians of British
Columbia.

SWANA Pacific Chapter Stuart Somerville Memorial Scholarship
Since 1994 the BC Pacific Chapter of SWANA has offered a number of scholarship awards each year to
students in programs relevant to solid waste management or environmental protection at British Columbia
universities or colleges. In this time, over 50 scholarship awards totalling over $30,000 have been provided to
students from eight different post-secondary institutions throughout BC. Last year the awards were $1000

This scholarship supports Canadian Citizens who reside in Western Canada and have a high school diploma or

The Chinese Government is offering scholarships for eligible British Columbia (B.C.) students to study abroad.

Dr. Jacob McKay Awards
Adult Aboriginal students who are attending, or have in the past attended, an IAHLA institute are invited to

AbbVie IBD Scholarship
Supported by an educational grant from AbbVie, Crohn’s and Colitis Canada will extend 10 one-time
scholarships of up to $5000 to students living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis who are entering into

CMHA Lorne Fraser Educational Bursary
Each year, the Lorne Fraser Educational Fund awards several bursaries to people with a mental illness to help
further their pursuit of post-secondary education. Bursary amounts, $700 each, are based on the annual
interest of the fund and are awarded for the fall term of each year.

Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA) Scholarships
The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Scholarship Program was established in 2002. This Program is
supported by donations of the members of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA) and by the
generous contributions from the Algar family, Doreen Laszlo (spouse of Dr. Charles Laszlo) and MedEl.
The mandate of CHHA is to encourage awareness of hearing loss and to advocate self-help for people with

Cerebral Palsy Association of BC – Tanabe Bursaries
The Cerebral Palsy Association of BC proudly offers 10 bursaries of $1000 each, to any eligible student 17

continue their studies the following term. The bursary is named for Yoshinori Tanabe in recognition of his
years of dedication to, and advocacy for, people in BC who live with Cerebral Palsy.

The NEADS National Student Awards Program is offered to encourage full access to post-secondary education
for persons with disabilities, who often have greater barriers to participation in higher education, as well as

of the award.

Sarah Gaulin Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship seeks to support and encourage the resilience of individuals with mental illness pursuing postsecondary education, which Sarah believed strongly in.
Students must be registered in a post-secondary institution and provide documented proof of their mental
illness. The scholarship will be awarded to outstanding applicants who meet the criteria of the program. The
awards will be paid directly to the post-secondary institution (in the students' accounts) that the recipients are

For students from developing countries who are currently studying in the United States or Canada, the MMMF
awards grants of approximately $12000 each; grants are not renewable. The MMMF also typically invites the

The African Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships Fund
The African Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships Fund will be funded in equal part by Foreign Affairs, Trade and
Development Canada (DFATD) and the MasterCard Foundation. In recognition of the importance of a strong
and effective public sector in advancing sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction in Africa, the
Fund will support promising professionals in becoming leaders in public policy and administration.
Over a period of five years starting in 2015, the Fund will grant up to 130 scholarships to young African men
and women to pursue a master’s degree in public administration in Canada. Scholarships will be awarded
based on merit and include a range of countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Special consideration will be given to
encouraging the advancement of women leaders.

Victory in Europe Scholarship
The Victory in Europe Scholarship was established in 2015 to mark the 70 th anniversary of the liberation of the
Netherlands by Allied troops, including many Canadians, during the Second World War and is in recognition of
the strong bond that exists between to the two nations today. This scholarship is offered to Dutch students
who possess Dutch citizenship and be accepted into a Master’s of Doctoral level program at a British Columbia
public university. The program must be on a full time basis and the student’s period of study must commence
during the 2015/16 academic year. Scholarships of $10,000 will be awarded, and may be renewable for up to
one year.

The BC Foster Parents Associations offer a number of scholarships and bursaries for youth in and from care,
