Note to Coin Collectors ...
CEFCU shredded and recycled
over 255,481 pounds of paper
in 2011. This saved an estimated:
2,170 trees; 894,176 gallons of
water; 523,734 kilowatt-hours of
electricity; and 58,759 gallons of oil.
Plus, we’ve eliminated the printing of approximately
6 million report pages over the last two years by
converting numerous internal paper reports to secure
electronic documents and distribution. In addition,
our two most recently constructed Member Centers
were built to be Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED) certified.

Congratulations Diamond Anniversary
Drawing Winners!
What a week it was in early June for
CEFCU® Members Brent and Sara
Fox! Brent’s name was selected as the
winner in our special 75th Diamond
Anniversary Drawing, receiving a
.75 carat diamond valued at $3,200.
Then, a day later, Brent and Sara
celebrated the birth of their first child!
“I really wasn’t able to get her much
when we were engaged and then
married,” said Brent. “Now, to find
ourselves here as the winners, it’s
really pretty neat.”
“I’m afraid I didn’t act very excited
when I was initially called,” he
continued. “After the call, it became
real, and I started thinking ‘Wow, the
baby and then this — what a week!’
We’ve certainly been blessed.”
Brent joined CEFCU in 2004. “I really
appreciate the service, especially at the
Northpoint and Chillicothe Member
Centers when we lived in that area,”
Sara stated. “Everyone is so friendly. If
they don’t always recall a name, they
always recognize you and make you feel
welcome. CEFCU was also very helpful
when we were searching for a loan.”
Brent added “We checked some other
places during that time — primarily
to check rates — but quickly learned
CEFCU was so much better.”

CEFCU at 75 Years
It started in May 1937, while the country was still recovering from
the Great Depression and the average, hard-working person found it
extremely difficult to get credit. A group of employees at Caterpillar
Tractor Company got together, wanting to help co-workers who were
unable to borrow money at a reasonable interest rate.
So, they pooled their money and formed a Credit Union. Borrowers
helped savers earn a better dividend rate, and savers made affordable
credit possible for borrowers. By the end of that first year, the Credit
Union had over 1,000 members.
“We’re better, together” is the insight that started CEFCU. And, after
75 years and dozens of milestones, that same approach and business

Use these safety tips and your own
common sense to stay safe and

Memorize your Personal
Identification Number (PIN).
Do not write your PIN on your
card or keep it in your wallet or
purse. Do not reveal your PIN
to anyone.
Have your card ready — in
hand — before you approach an
ATM. Choose only well-lit ATMs,
park nearby, and have another
person accompany you at night.
Be aware of suspicious activity —
trust your instincts. If you feel
uncomfortable, immediately cancel
your transaction and leave.
Don’t agree to cash or deposit
checks for someone else — even
someone you know.
Shield the keyboard and display
with your body or car so others
cannot see your transaction.
Pocket your money immediately
and be sure to take your receipt.
Verify your transaction privately, and
destroy all ATM receipts after
comparing them to your statement.
