Congratulations on Completion This Month‘s Topics Deutsch Café The Master Office has a broad variety of different topics to present to you in the month of July. First, we would like to invite you to participate in our Deutsch-Café (2). Next, we would like to inform you about the Best of Class Award (3) and the Career Day (4). We are also very happy to inform you about the recently completed Summer Schools “Automation and Simulation” (5), “Systematic Product Innovation” (6) and “Mechatronics Systems Eng. and Product Innovation” (7). Furthermore, we would like to tell you about the participation in a DAAD network conference (8). You can also take a look at our recent graduates (9) and the upcoming events (10) on the bottom of the last page. Do you wish to improve your German skills? Then take part in our “Deutsch-Café” which takes place once a month! You will be invited via e-mail. | The aim of this event is to offer our students a platform to apply and improve their German skills whilst talking with members of the International Academy and their fellow students in German in an informal get-together. There were several topic proposals that could be discussed at different tables accompanied by some drinks and sweets. Upcoming Events Best of Class Award Career Day The RWTH International Academy’s ‘Best of Class Award’ is established a scholarship of excellence to honour young talents with outstanding achievements. It is awarded each semester. In the winter semester 2015/2016, students from the following programmes could apply: (1) CAME (2) MME-EPS (3) MME-PS (4) PSE (5) Textile Engineering It is our pleasure to honor our excellent students in their first or third semester in each Master's degree programme with the Best of Class Award. Our warmest congratulations go out to you and do remember the parental advice: "Keep up the good work"! The official award ceremony will be held later this summer. The RWTH International Academy’s annual Career Day took place on June 9, 2016. It provides our international master students of mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering as well as physicist insights into career perspectives, ranging from industrial positions to an academic path in Germany and the Netherlands. SuS “AS” SuS “Automation and Simulation” SuS “Systematic Product Innovation” This year´s Summer School “Automation and Simulation” started on July 11 and ended on July 29, 2016. The international students both participated in German classes and engineering classes which were held by The Institute of General Mechanics (IAM) and the Language Center (Sprachenzentrum). Our students enjoyed events such as the CHIO horse show, a day trip to Cologne, cooking night, karaoke night, visit of the Research Institute Jülich, soccer tournament and many more. Our “Systematic Product Innovation” Summer School 2016 ran from July 4 to July 15. Students were exposed to such topics as the principles of product innovations, product design and construction, machine design and cooperative product development. Social events such as “Cooking at your Buddy´s place” were arranged. Every student is allocated to a Buddy who is already a registered student at RWTH. SuS “MSEPI” SuS “Mechatronics Systems Engineering and Product Innovation” This year´s Summer School “Mechatronics System Engineering and Product Innovation” took place from July 18 to July 29. The Summer School topics were conceptualized and conducted by the Institute for Engineering Design (IKT), the Institute for Theoretical Information technology (TI), and the Institute of Mechanism Theory and Dynamics of Machines (IGM). Our students also participated in an intercultural workshop and enjoyed their time in Aachen and its surroundings to their fullest. Organized day trips to Monschau and Burg Vogelsang were attractive to learn more about Germany´s history. Moreover, a day trip to Maastricht, soccer games, a scavenger hunt in Aachen and many more activities were organized. DAAD Networking Conference The IntAc team took part in a two-day DAAD networking conference this July which was very successful. Lots of representatives of DAAD information centers worldwide came “home” to the DAAD headquarter in Bonn in order to exchange ideas about new developments in university coorperations, conception of new study programmes, marketing activities and funding opportunities. The Master Office team had very fruitful meetings with representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Mexico, Taiwan, Cuba, Chile and Peru.
