The wedding industry is as profitable as primetime
football, celebrities compete for the shortest, most
gimmicky marriages and the exotic appeal of a romantic getaway has led to the widespread popularity

absolute explanation as to why destination weddings

The author of "Destination Weddings for Dummies,"
Susan Breslow Sardone, says the traditional American
wedding costs an average of $28,082, whereas destination weddings average around $20,600. "Some of
the cost difference is definitely a result of resorts and
hotels capitalizing on the trend. Many now offer the
full wedding package with wedding planners, musicians, photographers, etc.
Budget-conscious brides have become a trend as
well, according to Patricia MacArthur, executive director of WeddingStar.com -- a go-to authority on all
things wedding-related. MacArthur says more brides
are trimming expenses by taking the DIY route for
guest favors and some decorative elements.
For tropical weddings especially, many of the cheaper,
DIY options are more easily packed into suitcases. For
instance, colorful fabric is being used to replace flowers
and native delicacies are replacing towering cakes. An
extra tip from the experts, when considering the perfect setting to make your vows: look at locations that
are one flight away from you and most of your guests.

6 Tips for Planning Your
Wedding Photos Like a Pro
(NewsUSA) - With everything that goes into your wedding
day, those once-in-a-lifetime moments will go by in a blur,
which is why hiring a professional wedding photographer is
a must. After all, the last thing you should be worrying about
is whether your photographer will be able to capture your
big day.
The key? Prepare yourself so that you can accurately evaluate the "right" photographer for you. "The best photographer will take the time to build a rapport with you and use
his or her experience and creativity to capture the mood,
personality, ambiance and even the geography of your wedding," says PPA (Professional Photographers of America)

is more than a series of still pictures. It's physical poetry -- it
tells the story of the day and portrays the essence of both
people and place."
To this end, PPA, the largest international nonprofit association created by professional photographers, has taken the

1. Book far in advance. The best photographers get booked
quickly -- sometimes as much as a year in advance -- so
don't wait until the last minute to book your photographer.
2. Show them the money. Now is not the time to skimp on
your photo budget. Call around and get a price range for
services, and remember: after the cake is long gone, and the
dress is stored away, your wedding photos will be the only
things left to share and enjoy for years to come, so don't cut
too many corners on your photography budget -- you'll end
up regretting it.
3. Make sure your photographer is a real pro. Only hire
someone who has liability insurance, experience taking the
style of photos you want, backup equipment and a plan for
when things go south. Ideally, he or she is a PPA photographer. PPA photographers do more than just snap pictures.
They have the technical expertise and artistry to make you
look your best and bring your vision to life. They also abide
by a strict code of ethics that makes a real difference.
4. Request to see a full gallery of real weddings. Look at full
wedding coverage (not just a small selection of each wedding's best moments) to see a photographer's true style and
get a sense of how he or she might tell your "story." Do you
prefer more artistic or traditional poses? Would you rather
have a photojournalist approach or a mix of all styles?
5.Work with your photographer to create a detailed shot list.
PPA wedding photographers can also help you create that
shot list, as they know what key moments tell a wedding
story and can prepare for those. But talk about your musthaves, and walk through the entire program with your photographer ahead of time. Share your expectations ahead of
time to ensure that he or she captures the key shots, while
remaining attentive and available to catch the best candid
moments.
6. Plan your post-wedding photo strategy ahead of time! Almost as soon as the festivities are over, you'll be eager to
look at the photos so you can relive your big day over and
over again. Ask your photographer for teasers or a "sneak
peek" and a timeline for when the rest of the pictures will
be available. Will they give you an online gallery for family
and friends to choose the images they want? Again, knowing these things ahead of time will make things easy on the
back end, sparing you any heartache.

Standing is an American reality television talent show on NBC that
aired from 2003 to 2010, then again in 2014 and 2015. The goal of
the program is to select a comedian from an initially large group of
hopefuls. For the first seven seasons, the winner received a cash
prize and a television special; for season 8 in 2014, the winner won
a cash prize, a talent deal with NBC, and a half-hour scripted project
that will be developed by Universal Television. In July 2014, NBC

(1980) contained four US Top 40 hits and is the group’s best-selling

thirteen Top 40 hits, including the number ones “Keep On Loving You”
and “Can’t Fight This Feeling”. REO Speedwagon’s mainstream popu-
larity dissipated in the 1990s but the band remains a popular live act.
11/6 - Harrah’s - The Tenors: Pereira, Victor Micallef, Fraser
Walters, and Clifton Murray. They perform operatic pop music that is
a mixture of classical and pop, featuring songs such as “The Prayer”
and Panis Angelicus from the former genre, and Leonard Cohen’s
Hallelujah from the latter. Originating from Canada, Pereira from
Ottawa/Gatineau, Micallef from Toronto, Walters from Vancouver and
Murray from Port McNeil, the Tenors have performed on more than
60 international television programs. They appeared on The Oprah
Winfrey Show with Celine Dion in 2010, at the 63rd Primetime Emmy
Awards, at the opening ceremonies of 2010 Winter Olympics in
Vancouver and on ITV Diamond Jubilee Show at Windsor Castle for
HM Queen Elizabeth II. The venues they have performed in include
the Tel Aviv Opera House, and the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las
Vegas. They also appeared on the 2009 Grey Cup broadcast and on
CBC Television’s Holiday Festival of Ice.
11/7 - Tropicana - Meatloaf: Meatloaf is an American musician
and actor. He is noted for the Bat Out of Hell trilogy consisting of Bat
Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III:
The Monster is Loose. Bat Out of Hell has sold more than 43 million
copies worldwide. After 35 years, it still sells an estimated 200,000
copies annually and stayed on the charts for over nine years, making
it one of the best selling albums of all time. He is also known for his
powerful wide-ranging operatic voice and theatrical live performances. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with worldwide sales of more than 80 million records. He has also appeared
in over 50 movies and television shows, sometimes as himself or
as characters resembling his stage persona. His most notable roles
include Eddie in the The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Robert
“Bob” Paulson in David Fincher’s Fight Club (1999) and “The Lizzard”
in The 51st State (2002). He also appeared in several television
shows such as Monk, Glee, South Park, House, M.D. and Tales from
the Crypt as a guest actor.

singer, songwriter, model, record producer and actress. Starting
her career as a background singer on Uptown Records in 1989,
Blige released her first album, What’s the 411?, in 1992, and
has released 11 studio albums since and made over 150 guest
appearances on other albums and soundtracks. A recipient of
nine Grammy Awards, in addition to receiving a record of thirty
Grammy nominations, Blige is one of few entertainers in history
to have eight or more albums to reach multi-platinum status. My
Life, in particular, is considered among the greatest albums ever
recorded according to Rolling Stone, Time, and Vibe. For her part
in combining hip-hop and soul in the early-1990s and its subsequent commercial success, Blige received the Legends Award
at the World Music Awards. Blige also received the Voice of
Music Award from performance rights organization ASCAP, with
its official Jeanie Weems stating that “[Blige’s] music has been
the voice of inspiration to women worldwide in both struggle
and triumph.” Blige made Time magazine’s “Time 100” list of
influential individuals around the world in 2007. As of 2013, Blige
has sold more than 50 million albums and 25 million singles
worldwide. Billboard ranked Blige as the most successful female

11/14 - Tropicana - Carlos Mencia: Carlos Mencia is a
Honduran-born American comedian, writer, and actor. His style
of comedy is often political and involves issues of race, culture,
criminal justice, and social class. He is best known as the host of
the Comedy Central show, Mind of Mencia.
11/27 & 28 - Borgata - Earth, Wind & Fire: Earth, Wind &
Fire is an American band that has spanned the musical genres of
R&B, soul, funk, jazz, disco, pop, rock, Latin and African. They are
one of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands of the
20th century. Rolling Stone Magazine has described them as “innovative, precise yet sensual, calculated yet galvanizing” and has
also declared that the band “changed the sound of black pop”.
Also known as EWF, the band was founded in Chicago by Maurice
White in 1969. Other members have included Philip Bailey,
Verdine White, Ralph Johnson, Larry Dunn, Al McKay and Andrew
Woolfolk. The band has received 20 Grammy nominations; they
won six as a group and two of its members, Earth, Wind & Fire
have 12 American Music Awards nominations and four awards.
They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame, and sold over 100 million records, making them
one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time. Five members of
Earth, Wind & Fire were also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of
Fame: Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Larry Dunn and
Al McKay. The music industry and fans have bestowed Lifetime
Achievement honors from the American Society of Composers,
Authors and Publishers (Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award – 2002),
NAACP (Hall of Fame – 1994) and the BET Awards (Lifetime

11/28 - Resorts - The Spinners: Most often thought of as a
Motown recording act, the classic group sound of legendary R&B
recording artists, The Spinners has never lost its universal appeal. Throughout the years they have sold millions of records

and topped both the Pop and R&B charts with smash hits like “I’ll
Be Around” and “Then Came You.” Today, original member Henry
Fambrough is joined onstage by lead singer Charlton Washington, high tenor Marvin Taylor, tenor Ronnie Moss, and bass singer
Jessie Peck; a soul-infused 5-piece band, led by Keith Ferguson,
backs them up. After a brief time at Motown, The Spinners signed
to Atlantic Records in 1972. There, under the helm of producer and
songwriter Thom Bell, The Spinners charted five top 100 singles
(and two top tens) from their first post-Motown album, Spinners
(1972), and went on to become one of the biggest soul groups of the
1970s. A partial list of their hit singles on Atlantic include “Mighty
Love,” “Then Came You,” “I’ll Be Around,” “One Of A Kind (Love
Affair),” “Games People Play,” and “Could It Be.” With the release
of “Can’t Shake This Feeling,” their fourth LP in just over two years,
the quintet entered a brand new phase of their remarkable career
as they joined the award winning producing/writing/ playing team of
James Mtume and Reggie Lucas. Other past releases include songs
on the motion picture soundtracks of “Twins” and “Spaceballs,”
and a single on Arista Records with Dionne Warwick entitled “Then
Came You.” The Spinners have six Grammy nominations and have
performed twice during the awards ceremony. Inducted into the
Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999, they have also been awarded
the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Award for their contribution to

October 27th, November 10th, 17th & 24th
If you enjoy dancing or just listening to great
music, then have I got an event for you! Elizabeth
Gorman, one of our long-time readers, who enjoys
this column, advises us about a note-worthy event.
The Single Parents Society Shore Chapter presents
a note-worthy weekly Dance Social each Tuesday at
7:30PM til 10PM at the Social Hall of the Somers Point
Fire House Co. #1 located on Bethel Road in Somers
Point, NJ. Refreshments will be served. Live music will
be provided. A different musical entertainer or musical
group performs each week.
On October 27, 2015, it's a Halloween Dance
with Singer/Guitarist Johnny Tocco. There will be no
dance social on November 3, 2015. On November 10,
2015, it's a Veteran's Day Dance with Tony DeLuca at
the keyboard. On November 17, 2015, it's the Musical
Duo, "Star." On November 24, 2015, Singer/Guitarist
Johnny Tocco returns for a Thanksgiving Dance. Happy
Thanksgiving! There will be some line dances and a
mixer, too. The cost of each event is $8 for members
and $10 for non-members.
The event is open to all ages. The public is
invited to attend, too. The group has been meeting in
Somers Point for over 30 years. For further details, call

Any reasonable person understands that there is a price to be

casino investors and shareholders, and, ultimately, us taxpayers.

After more than sixteen years in documenting the “best” and
“worst” of Atlantic City casinos a clear pattern emerges. It proves
the old axiom that, “you cannot save your way to success” when
it comes to successfully operating a casino and keeping it a
healthy and prosperous operation that sustains thousands of
jobs important to all who reside in our area. Those entities who
forget their customers and try to “squeeze” every nickel from
them by all manner of deceptive ads, undue promotional restrictions, bad odds, poor price/value opportunities, cutting corners
on guest safety and maintenance, and generally poor treatment
of customers eventually die or wind up in a chapter.
There is an absolute strong correlation between the above
“Wiz’s” best list and a casino’s financial viability and ability to
prosper and survive. For the most part, just about all of those on
the best list are not going to go out of business anytime soon.
Their best offerings encourage repeat business. Those shortsighted casino operators who think they can save their way to
success by screwing their customers eventually fail, taking a lot
of good people down with them.
It is also said that, “a fish stinks from the head.” How true. One
leader of a failing casino just left a week ago and you would
think that some of the remaining ones would take a page out of
the book from the more successful casinos on the bay (Borgata,
Harrah’s & the Nugget) to improve their own operations and not
suffer the coming consequences.
