The Garden State Parkway upgrades at Exit 41 have dramatically improved accessibility to
the Jimmie Leeds Rd. corridor in
Galloway Township. The friendlier road eliminates much of the
congestion that made drivers
avoid it. What great news for
thousands traveling every day
to Stockton University's main
campus and the AtlantiCare
medical center, plus numerous
doctors' offices, businesses and
neighborhood senior housing/
assisted living/nursing centers.
More people has created a need
for more places to eat. The Exchange, a new free-standing
food complex, fits the bill. It
opened in late February and
has been packing them in ever
since.
This is no mall operation. The Exchange is a food court concept,
but done differently. Instead of
the usual fast food chain outlets
with minimal quality seating,
The Exchange includes outlets
from four local established businesses. Group-type seating is at
long, thick wooden tables. The
four eateries are doing a lot of
takeout, so parking and seating
should rarely be a problem.
These are like four adjacent food
kiosks, or trucks, with menus
that don't step on each other.
The individual owners designed
different menus, believing it is
counterproductive to compete
on every type of food item.
They preferred joint marketing
to draw in as many consumers
as possible. Regular customers
would ultimately rotate their

I recently had lunch there with a
friend who works nearby at Seashore Gardens Living Center, one
of the region's premier assisted
living/nursing/Alzheimer's care
facilities. Admittedly, I'm a bit biased since I'm a longtime Board
of Directors member. Seashore
Gardens is truly a dignified place
for anyone who may require additional assistance. If your family is in need, definitely go for a
visit.
Upon walking into The Exchange,
I first saw the Roots Coffee and
Tea counter. That seemed like
more of a morning spot for me.
In addition to numerous coffees
and teas, the menu has organic
and sustainable products. I also
saw jars of very appealing cookies on the counter.
Greens and Grains, with a location in Northfield and their Ventnor site reopening next month,
is the place for a healthy meal
of salads, rice/quinoa bowls or
wraps/pita/Panini/sandwiches
filled with vegetables and other
wholesome options. A dozen
side dishes include Mediterranean food choices like hummus,
falafel and stuffed grape leaves.

and gospel music. Founded in Baltimore, Maryland, and active since 1992,

hits “In My Bed”, “Never Make a Promise”, and “How Deep Is Your Love”.
Tamir “Nokio the N-Tity” Ruffin was the group’s founder; his groupmates
included lead singer Mark “Sisqó” Andrews, Larry “Jazz” Anthony, and
James “Woody Rock” Green. Dru Hill continues to engrave itself into the
legacy of R&B music and brings a dynamic sound to the ever-changing
industry. Known for hits such as “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” “Never Make a

at a young age, known for being very animated, she also acted, danced

the Hill’, and ‘Sister Act II’ with Whoopi Goldberg. Ironically all of this was
done while she was still a full-time student. After graduating high school
with stellar grades, she attended Columbia University in New York while a

establish a reputation in the music world as the lone female member of
