n 2012, Fives celebrated its
200th anniversary. From
the beginning, the company has been a pioneer in the
field of technologies applied
and solutions developed, as
well as in its ability to export
and install its equipment anywhere in the world. Vice President Sales and Marketing,
Fives Machining, Metal
Cutting|Composites division,
FIVES Group, François Duval
says, “Today, our ambition is
to be perceived as the most valuable enterprising partner
who delivers ultimate performance.” This means that from
a very early stage, by acting as
an adviser and engineering
company, it is able to understand and propose the most
valuable solutions for the benefit of the customer. This means that the company not only
aims at delivering the promise
at the time of installation but
also aims at keeping it all along
operational through services
such as maintenance, training,
process improvement and retrofits, upgrades, overhauling,
industrial transfers and so on.
Road map to growth
“In our sector, with the
expansion of the markets we
serve, such as the aerospace,
defense, automotive, railway,
energy and oil & gas sectors,
we are very confident about
the future. We also see a global
trend of our market in the
direction
of
intelligent
machines, big data analytics and automation,”
adds Duval. The company also believes that 3D
printing, and in particular laser metal
deposition, will lead to a real change of paradigm
in the metal cutting industry. That is the reason
why the company entered into a partnership
agreement with BeAM, to sell, build and provide
service on LMD machines. The need in the
fields of infrastructure, energy and transport in
India is huge. Hence, the need for machine tool
in India will surely grow tremendously in the
coming years.
IMTEX Connect
Exhibitions remain one of the main and most
appreciated communication channel in the
machine tool sector. Duval says, “Being present
in an exhibition such as IMTEX is a way to
express our motivation in developing business
in India. This is also a way to show and
communicate about our presence in India, not
only for sales, but more importantly for services.
Last but not the least, this is the place to be if
you want to meet with customers and thus
better understand the requirements of the
market.”

In the Cool Flash system, coolant bore, is
made in the tool holder with which the
coolant is transported up to the face surface
of the chuck. There is a pad placed on the face
surface of the Cool Flash chuck, which leaves
a narrow circular gap leading up to the tool.
The coolant is collected in this chamber,
creates high pressure and is distributed over
the entire circumference of the tool shank. It
flows out of this small reservoir like a closed
housing directly along the tool shank. At the
end of the shank area, the coolant is pressed
into the T-slots, rinses them free and even at
the highest speeds it reaches the cutting edges
directly, without sputtering, where it can
deploy its cooling effect.

CEX is a public business organization that
adds value to the Spanish economy as a
whole, and also boosts foreign investment
in Spain. Economic & Commercial Counsellor,
Economic & Commercial Office, Consulate
General of Spain in India, Elena Febrel Benlloch
says, “ICEX offers these services through 98
economic and commercial offices worldwide,
and 17 business centers abroad. Every year, ICEX
organizes around 1,200 promotional activities
in foreign markets.”
ICEX’s initiative
This is the seventh time that ICEX is
coordinating an Official Pavilion at IMTEX.
The Pavilion occupies a total exhibition area
of more than 400 m2 and about 12 Spanish
companies such as Ekin, Etxe-Tar, Fagor
Automotion, Fresmak Arnold, Gurutzpe,
Ibarmia, Korta Group, Nicolas Correa,
Juaristi, Shuton, Gamor and Zayer are
showcasing their latest technologies at the
event. This Official Pavilion is part of ICEX’s
initiative to support the overseas promotion
of Spanish exporters in the machine-tools
industry in major countries such as India.
Import connection
Spain is the third largest producer and exporter of the EU and 9th in the world. Benlloch adds,
“The industry of machine tools, components,
tools and accessories in Spain represents a total
turnover of 1.4 billion Euros. In 2013, its main
foreign

TaeguTec has lately introduced a new
product line to its popular CHASEMILL
family. The CHASEMILL POWER line has
a unique design with ‘double dovetail’ shape
2PKT inserts that enable high productive
machining. The double dovetail insert
pocket bears most of the cutting forces and
relieves the insert screw from the cutting load
thus, providing powerful and secure insert
clamping. Moreover, this unique design
makes it possible to clamp the insert with a
bigger size screw as compared to similar size
conventional design inserts. These features
combined with high positive design make
the CHASEMILL POWER an excellent
choice for high productive machining even
in low power and unstable setups.

Sophisticated Turning
The market for commercial vehicles is
experiencing a lively development. For
example, emerging economies have a great
need for new technologies in the production
of HGVs or agricultural machines to enable
them to achieve the desired growth in the
construction and agriculture industry. The
future of commercial vehicle production
lies in being faster, more energy efficient
and more flexible. For the turning experts
at EMAG these are very familiar conditions.
The vertical pick-up turning machine VL
8 offers a highly efficient solution for the
production of commercial vehicle components, for workpieces of up to
400 mm diameter.
The basic design of the VL 8 featuressturdy machine construction,
dynamic axes and simple operation. They are also based on a completely
new machine concept that allows for a variety of production technologies
for soft and hard machining to be combined to achieve a very attractive
price-performance ratio.
The ECOLINE machines built
by DMG MORI are high-quality
machines that can be used by
everyone. The new ecoTurn model
unites numerous capabilities: its
stable construction guarantees top
precision, the extensive equipment
promises maximum efficiency,
the wide choice of 3D controls
ensures flexibility – and the taskoptimized expansion options
enable an upgrade of the machines.
The basis of powerful, dynamic and high-precision machines is an extremely
stable construction that allows accurate machining even under difficult
metal removing conditions. The generously dimensioned ball screw spindles
and wide roller guides of the ecoTurn 450 are unbeatable in this class and
clearly set the machines apart from the competition. It achieves best rigidity
values and positioning accuracies of at least 0.008 mm / 0.0003 in and less –
even under 0.006 mm / 0.0002 in with direct measuring system.
