GRD Minproc’s Key Capabilities Geology Mining Feasibility Studies Process Design GRD Minproc is among the few engineering companies that services the entire resources product development cycle from feasibility, through to project delivery and into ongoing training, maintenance and operational needs. Some of our key capabilities are outlined below. MINING AND GEOLOGY GRD Minproc’s world renowned team of geologists, resource analysts and mining engineers has completed over 200 minerals studies around the world. The team has extensive experience in exploration programs, mineral resource estimation, mine design, planning and operations, for both open pit and underground applications, and work closely with clients’ in-house metallurgists and design engineers to produce feasibility studies, expert reports, technical reviews and audits of existing studies and operations. Detailed Engineering Project Execution Maintenance PROJECT ANIMATIONS Customised project animations enable clients to visualise the impact, size and scope of projects, metallurgical processes and complex underground mining layouts through fly throughs, working models and development sequences. ENGINEERING AND DESIGN We offer a full range of in-house capabilities, including: - Mechanical Piping Civil/Structural Electrical Control systems PROJECT DELIVERY STUDIES Clients can access full service capability in project management, procurement, logistics, construction management and commissioning. Some of the recent world class projects undertaken from our Perth office include: - Ravensthorpe Nickel Project, BHP Billiton in Western Australia - Tenke Fungurume Copper/Cobalt Project, Freeport-McMoRan in the Democratic Republic of Congo - Telfer Copper / Gold Project, Newcrest Mining Limited in Western Australia In 2007, GRD Minproc also established a regional office in the Queensland capital of Brisbane to focus on prospects in Eastern Australia, South East Asia and South America across a range of commodities including copper, uranium, nickel and gold. GRD Minproc’s Brisbane office was subsequently awarded the definitive feasibility study for Norsemont Mining’s La Constancia Project, located in southern Peru, in January 2008. - Kansanshi Copper Project, First Quantum Minerals in Zambia AFRICA GRD Minproc’s African presence has grown substantially, enhancing its reputation for achieving outstanding results in diverse commodities and logistically challenging locations. GRD Minproc was awarded the EPCM contract for the Niquel do Vermelho Project in January 2006. Award Winning In 2007 GRD Minproc was presented with the prestigious C.Y. O’Connor Award for Excellence in Engineering at the Western Australian Industry and Export Awards. The company was acknowledged for its engineering innovation in using the skills of its engineers and designers to push beyond the frontiers of mineral processing and apply their expertise to recovering resources from waste using the UR-3R Process®. GRD Minproc is currently constructing two UR-3RTM Facilities in the United Kingdom for its sister company Global Renewables, which will process the household waste of more than 1.4 million people. The Lancashire Waste Partnership Private Finance Initiative (PFI) Project reinforces GRD Minproc’s move into waste management; a decision made during the late 1990’s to counter the impact of the cyclical troughs experienced in the resources sector. Our Leadership Team HEAD OFFICE | REGISTERED OFFICE Cliff Lawrenson, GRD Group Chief Executive Cliff joined GRD in 2004, prior to which he spent seven years with CMS Energy Corporation in the United States as Vice President Financial, Advisory and Strategic Planning. He has worked extensively in development and investment banking around the world, including in Australia and Singapore. Cliff has served on several boards in international locations where he has lead the development and financing of numerous major infrastructure projects. Cliff holds postgraduate qualifications in commerce and finance. Malcolm Brown, Chief Executive Malcolm Brown is a qualified engineer, with over 25 years experience in project development, primarily associated with the resource sector. He has worked in both the design and project management fields and in a number of overseas locations during his career. Malcolm is the chief operating officer for GRD Minproc, responsible for all GRD’s project development activities, including GRD subsidiaries GRD Minproc and Kirfield. Prior to this appointment, Malcolm held the position of chief operating officer and director of project delivery for GRD subsidiary Global Renewables, responsible for all new projects undertaken by the company. Malcolm has extensive experience in managing the development of complex technical facilities. Tom Revy, Development and Technical Solutions Executive Tom is a qualified metallurgist with over 25 years experience in the mining industry across a broad spectrum of fields including operations, process design, finance and business development. Prior to joining GRD Minproc, Tom held a number of senior corporate roles with various mining companies where responsibilities extended to the identification and evaluation of mineral deposits and projects worldwide. Tom has undertaken an extensive amount of work in a number of countries including Australasia and North, Central and South America. Tom is an active member of various community groups.
