On Friday, September 19, the teachers and staff were treated to a 'Back to School' Subway lunch. It was a
huge success. PTA provided the Subway sandwiches and our wonderful McCall hospitality committee
volunteers donated the chips, drinks and desserts. It was a special way to thank the teachers and staff for all
they do for our students each day, and for making the 'back to school' transition a smooth one.
The next hospitality event will be on Friday, October 31, 'Treats NOT Tricks'. We need bags of candy (granola
bars, individually packaged salty snacks, etc.) to be donated for this event. While you are out buying candy
and other treats for your family/neighborhood festivities, get an extra bag for our wonderful McCall Teachers
and Staff. You can drop off your donations in the front office during the week of October 26. I will set up all
the donated items for the teachers to enjoy throughout the day.
There will be several more events throughout the year, so stay tuned! We would really appreciate your help!
Would you like to be part of the wonderful McCall Hospitality Committee? Please contact Minoo Wille at
[email protected] and I will add you to the list.
You can donate food or your time, as your schedule permits.
Thank you! Minoo Wille

Red Ribbon Week
The week of Octobe27-31 is Red Ribbon Week.
The 2014 Texas Red Ribbon Campaign is a statewide anti-drug, tobacco, and alcohol awareness
campaign. Our theme this year is “Knock Out
Drugs”!!! At McCall, we will be participating in
activities each day during the week as well as
having age-appropriate guidance lessons all
month about these topics. Each day the students
will receive a special token as a reminder to be
drug free. Also, the students will participate in fun
dress days. On Thursday, October 30th, the Mav
Man and Champ of the Dallas Mavericks will
present a 45 min program for Red Ribbon Week.
A week prior to Red Ribbon Week, the students
bring home a flyer that will give each parent
more details of all of the fun events. We would
appreciate your participation in our celebration
and pledging to stay drug-free.

McCall PTA Art Reflections Contest
The PTA believes all
children deserve a
quality arts education
and encourages
students to pursue
artistic expression
through participation
in its annual arts
Reflections Program.
The Texas Reflections
program has the most
participation of any
PTA program with
entries totaling over
100,000 across the
state. The program
offers students the
opportunity to create
works of art for fun
and recognition.
Students in preschool
through grade 12 are
encouraged to
create and submit
works of art in six
areas: literature,
musical composition,
photography, the
visual arts, dance
choreography, and
film/video. In its 40+
year history, the
program has
of students across the
nation and in
American schools
overseas to create
works of art. Each
year, the Reflections
Program challenges
students to create art
that interprets a
specific theme. If you
would like to get a
head start on this
year’s program, the
2014-2015 theme is:
“The World Would Be
A Better Place If…”
