Chart Configuration
Chapter 1 - Enhancements
Chart Configuration
The new Chart Configuration functionality enables you to tailor your Chart view to reflect your
clinical preference/specialty. You can customize tabs that display in the patient chart to make your
practice workflow more efficient.
Benefits
• You can order tabs to mirror the way tabs are used in your practice. For example, you can set
the order so that the Immunizations tab opens up first in the patient’s chart.
• You can hide tabs that you do not use. For example, if you are a chiropractor, and you do not
use the Orders and Results tabs, you can hide them to make your daily workflow easier.
• You can select a specific tab to open by default for your practice.
Best practice
You must be careful in hiding tabs, since many are needed to meet Meaningful Use requirements.
If you are a specialty such as Chiropractic, you may have lesser data collection requirements, and
therefore you can hide more tabs. However, please review Meaningful Use requirements before
doing so.
New Chart Configuration tab
In Admin view > Clinical, select the Chart Configuration tab. In this page you can set the order of
your tabs, hide tabs, and choose your default tab.
• Any tab, other than Demographics, can be hidden.
• Any tab, unless marked as hidden, can be made the practice default.
• Tabs can be ordered in any way.
The chart configuration changes take effect on a practice level.

Claim Scrubber
Claim Scrubber
This feature allows you to do claim scrubbing while an encounter or claim is actively being worked
on by a biller, provider, or clinician, and claim information is close at hand. You can also view any
errors for the claim.
Claim Scrubber is available for Practice Choice PM customers only.
With this feature, you can:
• Set default parameters regarding how to handle low priority scrub errors
• View scrub results from Diagnosis and Procedures in a Progress Note
• Scrub a claim or new purchase as you create it
• Scrub a claim while a patient is checking out from their appointment
• Scrub an encounter prior to sending it to claim management
• Print a report on errors from claim and encounter scrubs
When you choose to scrub claims, claim information is sent to the Alpha II ClaimStaker web
service to analyze the claims and identify errors. Those errors will be returned to you and displayed
in three levels of priority.
Alpha II ClaimStaker is a web-based software as a service (SaaS) application used by healthcare
entities to audit healthcare claims and/or encounters prior to submission to the patients’ insurance
plans for payment.
To access the Claim Staker website to modify or create claim edits, contact your Value Added
Reseller (VAR). If you do not have a VAR, contact McKesson Support.
Validation of claim data will take place before a scrub is performed and a claim must have a payer.
If no payer is present, the scrub will not take place.
Only primary claims can be scrubbed.
General Preferences
General Preferences has been updated to you to allow you to automatically ignore particular low severity errors. Additionally, you can suppress encounter scrubbing if it is not relevant for your practice’s workflow. Also, you can use the Manage My ClaimStaker Account to manage/configure scrubbing edits and control user access management to ClaimStaker.

Ignore check box
Select this check box if you want to ignore the
error. Use it to indicate that the error does not need to be addressed by the biller. Once this is selected, the error will no longer cause the encounter to be in an Errors status or a claim to be in Failed Claim Scrub status. This is a way for the provider/clinician to identify if they are comfortable with the error or they would like the biller to see it and they will not be fixing it.

Batch Claim Scrubbing
Batch Claim Scrubbing
You can now scrub entire batches of claims in McKesson Practice Choice. In claim scrubbing, edits are performed against claims to reduce errors and speed up reimbursement.
Overview
With this feature you can select an entire batch of claims to scrub. In addition, you can choose to
have these claims posted automatically if there are no errors in the scrubbing process. Any errors
will display on a new tab on the Claims page.
To obtain a log in to Alpha II ClaimStaker, contact your Value Added Reseller(VAR). If you do not
have a VAR, contact McKesson Support.
Validation of claim data will take place before a scrub is performed and a claim must have a payer.
A payer is required, as the claim edits in ClaimStaker are based on the associated payer. If no payer is selected, then no edits can be performed. Only primary claims can be scrubbed and scrubbing will be performed before posting.
Setting Up
Before you start sending batches of claims for scrubbing, you have a new option in General
Preferences to select.

The Account Type selected should identify the correct payer that should be scrubbed against.
If a claim has multiple line items (for example, two will be billed to an insurance payer and one

Performing a batch scrub
When you click either the Scrub Claims or Scrub and Post Claims button, you will not be able to
revise selections for the selected claims nor will another user be able to perform a batch scrub.
Once the scrub is complete, you will have full access again.
If another user attempts to perform a batch scrub while you are performing one, a message will
appear to notify them. Once the scrub is complete, the check boxes for the selected claims will be
cleared.
You cannot save or post a claim while it is being scrubbed.
If you attempt to perform an individual scrub on a claim while it is being scrubbed as part of a
batch, you will receive a message warning you.
Claims that have errors will be assigned a status of “Failed Claim Scrub.” Once in this status, you
cannot post it. This status is an easy way to identify claims that failed scrubbing. Once you are
through making modifications, change the status to “In Progress.”
For the following conditions, a claim will be exempt from scrubbing:
• If the current month has not been opened for processing.
• If the service date on the claim has a future date.
• If the service dates are outside of the open accounting period.

• When rescheduling an appointment, the Start Date field displays the date of the selected
rescheduled appointment. For example, if the original series was set to start on 08/01/14 for 10
appointments. and you select the 08/05/14 appointment to reschedule, the Start Date field
displays 08/05/14, not 08/01/14.
• The End After field displays the number of appointments to be rescheduled. You cannot enter
any value in this field. For example, if the original series of appointments was supposed to end
after 10 appointments, and you have chosen to reschedule the 5th appointment in the series,
the End After field displays the number 6, as the first 4 appointments have already occurred.
