There‘s No Place Like Home:
The Wizard of Oz kicks off the 10th Anniversary Celebration of 6th
Street Playhouse - our beloved artistic home!
Welcome to 6th Street Playhouse’s 10th Anniversary Season! We couldn’t
be more proud that over the last ten years 6th Street Playhouse has grown to
become the premier performing arts theatre in Sonoma County; engaging,
entertaining and inspiring our diverse community. For the last decade it has
been an honor to serve our community by “holding the mirror up to nature“consistently producing plays, musicals, and educational programs that are
of the highest quality and reach the broadest possible constituency - and
we look forward to the next decade, and beyond, of artistic and educational
service to our home town of Santa Rosa, and all of the North Bay.
That next step starts tonight with The Wizard of Oz, and we couldn’t be
more excited about this production. I’ve learned the hard way as a director
and a producer that creating a challenge for an audience, no matter how big
or small, is usually a good thing and worthwhile as long as the play and story
are still served. I’m acutely aware of the love and adoration that most of us
have for The Wizard of Oz may predicate an adverse reaction to seeing it
done any other way than the definitive MGM motion picture, starring Judy
Garland. But we also have to ask oursleves as artists and ticket purchasers
is, “Why another Wizard of Oz?“
For me, The Wizard of Oz not only offers the opportunity for, but demands a
heavy directorial and design hand. It is a great message and told with great
music – that doesn’t change – but how we are able to visually tell a story,
taking what is proven, and even seemingly dated or tired, feel fresh and
breathing new life into it, (through scenic, costumes, lighting, and sound
innovation – and even a new idea about character physicallity) that is what
is exciting to me! Our director, Ben Stowe, and his cast and staff have done
just that – taking what we know, and making us see it as new.
I want to thank them for their fearlessness in their approach tonight, and
thank you for being here tonight to celebrate what has come to pass, and
what is about to be new – both at The Playhouse and with The Wizard of Oz!

Acting Company
SASKIA BAUR
(Hunk/Scarecrow) Born
and raised in Los Angeles,
Saskia has had the
pleasure of performing in
Santa Cruz and Sonoma
County for the last 15
years and is excited to be
performing again with 6th Street Playhouse.
She was most recently seen as Maria in
Twelfth Night with Shakespeare in the
Cannery, directed by David Lear. She is
thrilled to be performing in this re-imagining
of The Wizard of Oz and to have the
opportunity to work with Director Benjamin
Stowe, an incredibly talented and dedicated
crew, and wonderful fellow cast members.
IRIS BERTO
(Ensemble/Scarecrow
Understudy) Iris has been
acting since she was six
years old and has loved
it the whole time! She has
done the Youth and Teen
summer productions for
6 years, as well as acting in 2 original plays
in the Studio Theater: Hamlet’s Orphans by
Dezi Gallegos, and Great War Chronicles,
a folk rock opera. You may have seen Iris
recently as the Scarecrow in the teen Wizard
of Oz, or as Millie in the youth production of
Thoroughly Modern Millie last summer. She
is thrilled to be a fully-fledged Ozian!
BOBBY BRADBURY
(Ensemble) Bobby is
extremely excited to be
a part of the cast of The
Wizard of Oz, which
will be his first adult
production. He has played
the parts of Benjamin in
the children’s cast of Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers, Doody in the teen cast of Grease,
Henry Hill in The Music Man, and Gaston
in Beauty and the Beast at Herbert Slater

Next Victim Please, The Clumsy Custard
Horror Show, and Once Upon a Mattress.
Currently he is a cast member of the teen
version of The Wizard of Oz as the Tinman.

DAVID BRADBURY
(Ensemble) David is thrilled
to be a part of his second
professional production at
the 6th Street Playhouse!
Most recently he was a
part of the Playhouse’s
new plays festival, Voices
on the Vine. He has also been a part of the
6th Street School of Drama program for
years, performing roles such as Danny in
Grease, Franz Liebkind in The Producers,
and Phillips/Ensemble in Singin’ in the Rain.
He is currently a senior at Montgomery High
School, where he has performed in shows like
And Then There Were None, A Midsummer
Night’s Dream, Rumors and How to Succeed
in Business Without Really Trying. He hopes
you enjoy the show!
ALLY CLINE (Ensemble/
Dorothy Understudy)
Alexandra Cline is a senior
at Analy High School.
She has been acting for
many years at 6th Street
Playhouse, and treats
the theatre like a second
home. Some of her favorite roles include
Joy in Cinderella, and Sandy in Grease. You
may have seen her in the teen production
of Wizard of Oz, performing as Dorothy.
She appreciates the many opportunities 6th
Street Playhouse has given her to perform
and hopes to stay on the stage her entire
life. If she follows the Yellow Brick Road long
enough, she’ll get there eventually.

LAURA DAVIES (Auntie
Em/Glinda)
Laura
is
thrilled to be back in the
G.K. Hardt sharing the
stage with such a talented
cast and crew. She has
been seen locally at 6th
Street Playhouse in A
Christmas Story, Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers, The Tennessee Menagerie, and
several other shows in the Studio Theatre.
She has also directed for the past three years
for the Redwood Writers New Play Festival.
You may have seen her locally on stage with
North Bay Stage Company (Witness for the
Prosecution), Novato Theatre Company
(Steel Magnolias), Sonoma Stage Works
(Trifles), and Narrow Way Stage Company
(Antigone). Laura trained for a BFA in Acting
at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis,
and performed in the Minneapolis/St. Paul
area at the Chimera Theatre, Theatre in the
Round Players, the Civic Theatre and the
University of Minnesota’s Showboat. She
looks forward to more acting and directing
this season. Lastly, a huge “thank you” to
her husband, Richard, and sons Zack and
Jake for their love and support – you make
me realize there’s no place like home.
JESSICA GERSON
(Ensemble) Jessica is
excited to be performing
at 6th Street Playhouse for
the first time! Previously
she’s been on the Napa
stage in Lucky Penny’s
8x10 Festival and as Ms.
Bedwin in their production of Oliver!. She’s
very excited for this opportunity to sing and
dance in a new city, and hopes you enjoy
the show! Thanks to the cast and crew for all
their hard work, and the friends and family
who have come to show their support.

NATALIE GREEN
(Ensemble) Natalie is
fifteen and has been
doing theatre for six years.
She started at Speckels
Performing Arts Center
and fell in love with acting
and
performing.
She
joined 6th Street Playhouse two years ago
and enjoys being apart of it! She recently
was in the teen version of the Wizard of
Oz at 6th street and is excited to be apart
of the adult production. One of her favorite
parts of theatre is the dancing. She has been
dancing for eight years mostly at Sebastopol
ballet school. When dancing off the stage,
Natalie enjoys mostly ballet, but also jazz
and contemporary.She is extremely thrilled
to be apart of this production.
STARR
HERGENRATHER
(Miss Gulch/Wicked Witch
of the West) Starr has been
a Theatre Arts educator/
director/choreographer/
producer in Sonoma
County for 28 years and
currently teaches at Analy High School. She
has not been an actor in someone else’s
production for many years and is elated
to be a part of this production with such a
wonderfully talented director, cast, and crew,
and she thanks Ben and Areyla for this
opportunity. Peace and love!!
SOLANA JOLLY
(Ensemble/Lion
Understudy) Solana Jolly
is
a
freshman
at
Montgomery High School
She
enjoys
theatre
because she gets to
experiment with different
characters, their different backgrounds, and
possible futures. She has always taken
theatre when she had the opportunity in
school. In addition to the Wizard of Oz,

Solana played Annie in Annie when she
was 12. She also plays instruments mostly
guitar. You might have seen her play at Bike
Expo and other events in Santa Rosa or at
the Club Georges in San Rafael.
MICHAEL LUMB
(Ensemble) Michael Lumb
began performing at nine
with Bay Area ETC. Eighth
grade Michael starred in
Tom Sawyer. Lumb played
Lysander in A Midsummer
Night’s Dream. He played
Charlie Bucket in Willy Wonka in college and
was nominated to compete in the Kennedy
Center American College Theatre Festival.
After performing in SRJC productions such
as Jesus Christ Superstar and My Fair Lady
he moved to Anaheim and completed a
professional internship with Disney, Since
returning to NorCal, Lumb has played Tulsa
in Gypsy with NTC and was most recently
seen in The Addams Family here at 6SP. At
23, Michael is thrilled to be onstage with this
talented cast.
DANA NELSON-ISAACS
(Zeke/Lion)
Dana
is
honored to be part of this
tremendous
company!
She was most recently
seen in Mary Poppins
(Mrs. Corry/Ensemble) at
SPAC. You also may have
seen her in The Full Monty (Joanie) here at
6th Street Playhouse, Legally Blonde (Enid)
at SPAC, in the critically acclaimed Our
Town (Mrs. Gibbs) at SRJC, or farther afield
in Vinegar Tom (Goody) at The Rabbit Hole
in San Francisco.She has recently directed,
assistant directed, and stage managed at
6th Street Playhouse and Lucky Penny
Productions. Dana is a proud consultant for
FOGG Theatre in SF. This one is dedicated
to Sky and Eliana, who display and inspire
courage in every possible way.

(Ensemble/Tinman Understudy) This is
Bryce’s first performance at Sixth Street
Playhouse, and he is glad to be a part of
such an ecstatic cast. He has performed
in the pit orchestra as a percussionist for
shows such as Phantom of the Opera, and
Les Miserables at the Santa Rosa Junior
College, and Oliver at Spreckels Theater in
Rohnert Park. He enjoys listening/playing
Classic and Psychedelic Rock (favoring The
Flaming Lips and Tame Impala), and is ready
to take on the role of Buddy Holly’s number
one man, Jerry Allison. Bryce hopes that
this show relays his idea (as well as Buddy
Holly’s) of music being for all to connect to
and enjoy.
KATE STEWART
(Ensemble) Kate Stewart
has been dancing since
the age of four in various
styles such as ballet, hip
hop, ballroom, jazz, and
tap. She has danced in all
four musical productions
throughout her high school career at Analy
- My Fair Lady, The Drowsy Chaperone,
Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,
and Oliver. She was co-dance captain for
Cinderella and co-choreographed last year’s
production of Oliver. This past year she also
taught two jazz classes to teens and preteens where she continued her passion of
dancing and discovered her growing passion
for working with kids. She also has worked
with kids the past three summers teaching
tennis. She will be attending UC Davis in
the fall in the college of Agriculture and
Environmental Science. She has enjoyed
dancing for as long as she can remember
and is so excited to be a part of this wonderful
show. She’s also excited that her dog looks
like Toto.

KATIE KELLEY STOWE
(Dorothy Gale) Katie is
honored to make her
childhood dreams come
true as Dorothy in this
new look of ‘Oz’. Katie has
performed in over a dozen
shows with 6th Street
playhouse, most recently seen as Elaine
in The Graduate and Laura in The Glass
Menagerie. Look for Katie in October as
she takes on Gruesome Playground Injuries
at Lucky Penny Productions in Napa, co
starring with Benjamin Stowe. Thank you to
all supporters of the theater, and to my sweet
daughter Emmalina, who makes every day a
dream come true.
KIM WILLIAMS
(Hickory/Tinman)
Kim
is having a great time
skipping
down
the
yellow brick road with
this wonderful cast! She
was last seen on the
G.K. Hardt stage as Mrs.
Braddock in The Graduate. She has also
appeared at 6th Street Playhouse as Mrs.
Wells in Jolly Juliana or Her Fruitcake Has
Nuts, Alice Beineke in The Addams Family,
Muriel Eubanks in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,
Mother in A Christmas Story and Julia
Leverett in Lend Me A Tenor. Other favorite
North Bay appearances include Dotty Otley
in Noises Off, and Grace in Bus Stop.
LARRY WILLIAMS
(Uncle Henry / Professor
Marvel/Guard/Oz) Larry
has been performing
throughout the bay area
for the over twenty-five
years. His most recent
roles include Mr. Braddock
in The Graduate, Shep Henderson in Bell,
Book, and Candle, Lucifer Bellows in Jolly
Juliana or Her Fruitcake Has Nuts, Andre in
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Clown 2 in The 39
Steps, Pantalone in Servant of Two Masters,
Saunders in Lend Me a Tenor, Marcus Lycus
in Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the
Forum, Mr. Potter in It’s a Wonderful Life, Bill
Coles in Other People’s Money and the Tin
Man in The Wizard of Oz. Larry just finished
directing Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story. Last
year he wrote and directed Jolly Juliana or Her
Fruitcake Has Nuts. He has written several
plays that were produced and performed
in Sonoma and Marin County including an
adaptation of It’s a Wonderful Life for 6th
Street Playhouse. Other roles include Roger
Debris in 6th Street’s production of The
Producers, Thomas Welles in Kite’s Book
and Mr. Kirby in You Can’t Take It With You.
Production Staff
BEN HARPER (Properties Designer) This
is Ben’s seventh show as a props designer
for the Playhouse. He is also an award
winning designer for his work on 6th Street’s
production of The 39 Steps. He is extremely
proud of his previous work for this theatre
and is equally proud and pleased to be
working with this talented cast and crew. He
hopes you will enjoy the show.
CRAIG A. MILLER (Executive Artistic
Director) Originally from Peoria, Illinois,
Craig received his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Acting at the Illinois State University School
of Theatre, and his Master of Fine Arts in
Directing at the University of South Carolina.
Before coming to 6th Street Playhouse, he
served as the Executive Artistic Director of
East Window Theatre Co. in Chicago, IL
(1996-2000), served as Casting Associate
for The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey
(2003-2005), and founded and served as
the Artistic Director of The Texas Repertory
Theatre Co. in Houston, TX (2005-2011).
Craig has directed professional productions
at regional theatres across the United States,
receiving critical acclaim in publications

Variety, and The New York Times. Craig’s
directing credits at the Playhouse include

39 Steps, The Marvelous Wonderettes,
The Producers, August: Osage County,
The Rocky Horror Show, Lend Me A Tenor,
RED, Spamalot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,
Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Glass
Menagerie, and Bonnie & Clyde. He was
nominated for Best Director by the San
Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle
for his productions of August: Osage County
and RED, and both productions won the
SFBATCC award for Best Ensemble.
AREYLA MOSS-MAGUIRE
(Choreographer) Areyla Moss-Maguire
is originally from Sonoma County.
Beginning first at the children’s circus,
Camp Winnarainbow, run by famous
clown Wavy Gravy. She went on to earn
her B.A. in Theater Arts at UC Santa
Cruz, focusing primarily in dance and
choreography. Areyla continued on to
Europe where she completed her graduate
work in Jacques Lecoq Physical Theater
in Barcelona, Spain. Throughout her time
in Spain, she worked as a choreographer,
dancer and clown while cultivating the
art of swing dance. Lindy Hop led her to
northern Sweden and London where she
danced extensively with the members
of Syncopated City Dance Company
from NYC. Areyla earned a diploma in
contemporary dance in Denmark at the
Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School
while also teaching the Charleston, Jazz
and Lindy Hop. While in Denmark, she
was an instructor of physical theater
and mime at the Copenhagen Film and
Theater School and worked with Why Not
Theater Company. Areyla has recently
returned to the Bay Area and has been
performing with site-integrated theater
company We Players, while working as a
choreographer, teaching for Cal Shakes,
Flying Yoga Studios, The Theater School

BENJAMIN STOWE (Director)
Benjamin is very proud and humbled
to make his directorial debut with 6th
Street. You may have seen him acting
on the 6th Street Studio stage in The
Glass Menagerie. Other credits include
WE Players productions of Ondine at the
Sutro Baths, Macbeth at Fort Point, Twelfth
Night on Hyde Street pier and Hamlet on
Alcatraz, The Lion in Winter with Spreckels
Performing Arts Center, The Loin and
The Fox with Central Works and Romeo
and Juliet with Lake Tahoe Shakespeare
Festival. He has also performed with
several North Bay Theaters in All the Great
Sports (Abridged), The Three Musketeers,
A Long Days Journey into Night, Hamlet,

HISTORY
In 2004, two separate theatre companies - The Santa Rosa Players (est.
1971) and Actors Theatre of Sonoma County (est. 1984) - joined forces
and transformed the 107-year-old Del Monte cannery in Santa Rosa’s
Railroad Square into the 6th Street Playhouse. This $1.3 million dollar
renovation resulted in a state-of-the-art theatre facility, which opened to
acclaim in 2005.
In July 2007, the main stage was named for Santa Rosa businessman and
arts patron, G.K. Hardt. In 2009, a second more intimate theatre space
- The Studio - was opened. Together, these two theatres are home to
dramatic, musical, and improv performances, School of Drama presentations,
and a variety of special events.
6th Street Playhouse is honored to have received the City of Santa Rosa
Award for Cultural Enrichment and the Sonoma County Historical Society
Award for Preservation of a Historical Building. Our productions have
received critical acclaim with nominations and awards from the San
Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, and our company has been
named Best of Sonoma County by The Press Democrat and Best of the
North Bay by The Bohemian.
What started as a small endeavor continues to grow year after year with
the support of our community. We look forward to continuing to offer
outstanding productions and educational programs here at 6th Street
Playhouse.
