The Awata Festival, which features a grand parade of decorated floats, is held in October.For the festival, Awata Daitoro (a float adorned with many lanterns) revived in 2008 after 180 years. Usually, it is used for the Yoshimoto Gion Kagetsu comedy stage. This temple is famous for its garden created by Soami and the sculpture of the Buddhist deity Fudo-myoo and his attendants is a National Treasure. 6 Chion-in Temple B3 Tel: 075-531-2111 Entrance fee for Yuzen-en: ¥300. Open 9:00 ∼ 16:30(reception until 16:00). Mieido is unavailable for public viewing until the end of 2018 for renovations. Chion-in's gate is a National Treasure; the Mieido and Daishoro are famous. Chion-in also boasts seven mysterious things. Ishibe-koji is a narrow stone path that runs from Shimogawara-dori to "Nene-no-michi." The path gives the appearance of a stone landscape with elements of restaurants and inns surrounded by stone walls. This temple is one of subtemples of Kodaiji and the garden was moved from Fushimi Castle. Open: 9:00 ∼ 16:00. 9 Yasaka Kaikan (Hall) B2 This temple is the entrance to the Toribeno, one of the ancient crematoriums in Kyoto. The sculpture of the Yakushi-nyorai (the Medicine or Healing Buddha) was made by Saicho. There is also an ancient well from which it is said that Ono-no-Takamura (a Heian scholar and poet) passed between this world and the other world. The statue in the temple's hall is of the Buddhist deity Fudo-myoo, also known as the "Juman Fudo." The five-story pagoda is a symbol of Higashiyama, and offers to go upto its second floor. This temple belongs to the Tendai sect of Buddhism and features the living quarters for priests built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and many other cultural assets. Entrance to the Hondo: ¥300. The Kanon is believed to help illnesses such as headaches and increase knowledge. 50 Imahie-jingu Shrine E2 35 Ninenzaka Sanneizaka Path (Sannenzaka Path) C3 is Sannenzaka; the path that continues up the next small slope is called Ninenzaka. These paths still retain the atmosphere of old Kyoto. This dry landscape garden, or karesansui, famous for its unique stones, was rebuilt by modern garden designer Shigemori Mirei. The sculpture of Sanbo-kojin in the Kojin-do is said to be the The Hojo is a National Treasure and an oldest one in Japan. It's garden was designed by Shigemori Mirei. The sitting image of Daimyo Kokushi is one of many cultural treasures. 72 Tentoku-in Temple G1 oldest of its kind in Japan. 64 Yokihi Kannon-do Temple G2 Admission fee required. This Kanon-do is famous for an image of Seikanon-bosatsu, which was made by Emperor Genso-kotei as a tribute to his love for one of the beautiful women in China, Yokihi. The image is worshipped to bring beauty and marriage. Furnishing goods from the powerful Kashiwaya merchant family and numerous cultural treasures from the Edo period are displayed twice a year. About 500 stone steps lead to a ninemeter high, five-story stone pagoda. The roof of this three-story vermillion pagoda is covered with Japanese cypress bark.
