These should be reviewed independently. • The Bugaboo Bee is suitable from birth and designed to accommodate your child from infant to toddler (from 0 to 4 years and up to a weight of 17 kg). Excessive weight may cause a hazardous unstable condition to exist. Check and maintain all safety features frequently. • Children should be harnessed in at all times. •For any child unable to maintain an unaided sitting position the backrest should only be used in the most reclined position. • When adjusting the Bugaboo Bee, the child should be clear of moving parts while making adjustments. • A child’s safety is your responsibility. A child should never be left unattended. • Any load attached to the handlebar affects the stability of the pushchair. • Take your child out of the Bugaboo Bee when going up or down stairs, escalators or around steep or unstable conditions. All you need to do is attach the swivel wheels. It’s quick and simple. 1 Slot each swivel wheel onto the connection rod at each end of each of the Bugaboo Bee’s front legs. Make sure that the handlebar clips are closed. The instructions below show you how to do fold the Bugaboo Bee when the seat is facing the world. 1 Apply the brake by pushing firmly down on the pedal. 2 Adjust the backrest so that it is parallel with the handlebar. 3 Press the secondary lock on the handlebar down while lifting the folding locks upwards. This will release the folding mechanism and the Bugaboo Bee will do the hard work for you. This will allow you to move the backrest all the way forward so it is in line with the handlebar. 3 Hold the secondary lock on the handlebar down while lifting the folding locks upwards. This will release the folding mechanism and the Bugaboo Bee will do the hard work for you (see page 16 and 17). 18 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 18 5/11/07 10:20:02 2 get going brake To release the brake, push the upper part of the brake pedal downwards. To apply the brake, firmly press the lower part of the pedal downwards, but don’t force it. WARNING The brake is a parking brake only. Apply the brake whenever you park the Bugaboo Bee. o not apply the parking brake while the D Bugaboo Bee is moving. Only apply the parking brake when the Bugaboo Bee is stationary. So the Bugaboo Bee is easily adaptable. 1 While pressing the lock on the underside of the seat, slide the seat to the correct length to fit your child’s legs. seat adjustment lock 20 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 20 5/11/07 10:20:04 3 the beginning adjusting the backrest Whatever the age of your child, there’s a posture that’s just right for them. 1 On the back of the Bugaboo backrest is an adjustment lock. To release the backrest you’ll need to squeeze the lock while you change the position. The Bugaboo Bee has four positions, from upright to reclining, to suit your child’s mood or activity. 2 nce you have positioned the backrest, O let go of the release lock to secure. 1 backrest adjustment lock WARNING For any child unable to maintain an unaided sitting position the backrest should only be used in the most reclined position. en 21 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 21 5/11/07 10:20:05 3 the beginning adjusting the harness It is essential for both comfort and safety that the harness is always a snug fit. 2 to adjust the shoulder height of the harness: The straps should attach to the backrest, level with the top of a child’s shoulders or slightly higher. 1 Pull the white harness toggles away from the backrest by pushing the clips that hold them in place at the front of the backrest. 2 Twist the toggles so they feed through the holes. 3 Reinsert the toggles at the preferred height and click them into place to secure. 1 WARNING The harness must be adjusted to fit your child and must be properly secured. 22 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 22 5/11/07 10:20:06 3 the beginning 1 to secure the harness: 1 Place the crotch strap between your child’s legs. 2 Place your child’s arms through the 3 Insert the clips on the body straps into the main buckle on the crotch strap and click into place. 4 Squeeze the clips to release. body straps. 2 WARNING Avoid being caught off-guard by your child making unexpected movements. You should be able to comfortably insert two fingers under each strap. to adjust the waist straps: 1 The harness has indicators (I and II) to help you get the right tightness for your child’s size. For a smaller child, the ‘I’ setting on the waist strap will ensure a snug fit. As the child grows bigger, slide the strap along to the ‘II’ setting. Position the number in the middle of the slider. WARNING Always use the harness to avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. 24 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 24 5/11/07 10:20:10 3 the beginning adjusting the sun canopy Children are so excitable; one moment they’re up and active, the next they’re tired and irritable. The Bugaboo Bee comes with an adjustable sun canopy allowing privacy while your child has a well-deserved nap, or offering protection on sunny or windy days. 1 2 3 NOTE The sun canopy will fit the Bugaboo Bee for a child with a maximum bottom-to-head length of 51 cm/20.1 inches. 1 To adjust the sun canopy, pull at the wire frame. There are three positions: closed (1), halfway open (2) or fully open (3). WARNING Children have very sensitive skin. Never put a child in the Bugaboo Bee in direct sunlight without fitting the sun canopy. en 25 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 25 5/11/07 10:20:11 4 the perfect fit the perfect fit adjusting the handlebar The Bugaboo Bee wasn’t designed just for your baby’s comfort, but yours too. The handlebar is adjustable so it’s the right height, for whoever is pushing. 1 Open the clips on both sides of the handlebar. 2 Adjust the handlebar to your preferred height by pulling up or pushing down. 3 Fasten the clips to secure in place. 1 26 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 26 5/11/07 10:20:12 4 the perfect fit using the wrist strap The wrist strap must be worn at all times, but especially on uncertain or rugged terrain and on an incline. Check the safety warnings, which are printed on the wrist strap. en 27 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 27 5/11/07 10:20:14 4 the perfect fit locking the wheels Gravel or uneven surfaces can be tough to travel over with swivel wheels, especially when pushing the Bugaboo Bee with heavy shopping in the underseat basket. To help relieve this problem the Bugaboo Bee’s front wheels can be locked. Line up the swivel wheels so that the 1 2 2 kneecaps are facing forwards. Above each of the Bugaboo Bee’s front kneecaps is a white wheel lock. Squeeze each one and slide it upwards until they click. This will lock the wheels and they will no longer swivel. You can turn the seat to suit their mood. NOTE Even if the seat unit of your Bugaboo Bee is facing you to begin with (rather than facing the world as shown in the illustrations) the instructions given to turn the seat unit are the same. Press the seat unit onto the frame until you hear a ‘click’ on both sides. 8 When the seat is securely in place the red indicators on the seat unit release lock will not be visible. If the arms do not reach the sockets, squeeze the backrest adjustment lock and slot each one into the correct position. 10 Click the seat in place and adjust the backrest to a suitable position (see adjusting the seat on page 20 and adjusting the backrest on page 21). en 33 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 33 5/11/07 10:20:23 5 explorering exploring attaching the rain cover Come rain or shine, the Bugaboo Bee can protect a child in any setting. The snug-fitting and fully ventilated rain cover is sure to keep the child dry, warm and comfortable. 1 Fully extend the Bugaboo Bee sun canopy. 2 Place the rain cover on the head-end of the backrest. 3 Pull the rain cover over the sun canopy so that the Bugaboo label on the rain cover lines up with the Bugaboo label on the Bugaboo Bee. It should fit snugly. 4 6 Adjust the touch fastener in the middle of the rain cover to adapt the cover to the chosen seat position. 7 By attaching the touch fasteners you create an air vent. NOTE The rain cover will fit the Bugaboo Bee for a child with a maximum bottom-to-head length of 51cm/20.1 inches. The rain cover has an elastic loop and a hook on each side. Ensure that the seat fabric, the brake and the safety belts are all working properly, the handlebar is locked and that the seat is fitted correctly to the chassis. • Do not use the Bugaboo Bee near open flames or other sources of heat. Avoid exposing the Bugaboo Bee to extreme temperatures. • The Bugaboo Bee is not resistant to saltwater. • Check to see if the Bugaboo Bee is damaged. You should ensure that any damaged or worn parts are repaired immediately (see warnings on pages 8-10). • To ensure complete safety for your child do not use the Bugaboo Bee until any damaged or worn parts have been repaired or replaced. • The Bugaboo Bee seat unit (no. 580200) should only be used with the Bugaboo Bee chassis (no. 50100). Do not use Bugaboo Bee parts or components with any non-approved pushchair, other device or any other Bugaboo product. en 37 BUGA_BEE_UK_Z80061_INNER_rv01.indd 37 5/11/07 10:20:27 6 taking care maintenance tips cleaning • Clean the Bugaboo Bee chassis and wheels with a soft towel and lukewarm water. After a few tough months on the streets the Bugaboo Bee may begin to get a bit grubby. • Use a soft brush to clean sand from the mechanisms and sliding tubes of the frame. • Use silicon spray in the mechanisms of the backrest release/adjustment and brakes to ensure that the parts remain in good working order. We’ve made the Bugaboo Bee fabric detachable and machine washable. See turning the seat unit on page 29 for instructions on how to do this. 1 Undo the eight buttons around the edge of the backrest. 2 Unhook the three sets of elastic loops found both sides of the Bugaboo Bee. Pull the sun canopy, with the metal wire frame still attached, away from the Bugaboo Bee. 3 4 To wash the sun canopy, slide the metal wire frame out of the sun canopy (see cleaning on page 38). 1 1 To ensure that the bend on the wire is facing the correct direction, each wire has a marking on one end. The warranty period is 24 months, from the date of purchase. The warranty period shall never be extended, even in the event of repairs being made. 2.
