“There are those who give little of the much which they have - and they give it for recognition and their hidden desire
makes their gifts unwholesome. And there are those who have little and give it all. These are the believers in life and
the bounty of life, and their coffer is never empty." Khalil Gibran

Lighting the Christ Candle

All:
adapted from Debra Faulk, UU Words for Worship
We light this candle, symbolic of the warmth of community and the brightness that love brings to
the world, illuminating our search for justice and peace.
Here in our midst is this flame, so tiny and so significant

Opening Prayer
adapted from Gathering by Kate Crawford
Remembering the generations who have gone before us, we have come to this place of peace with
you. Remembering the many who gave their lives so that we might be free, we have come to this
hour of peace to worship. Remembering all who have suffered loss and grief in the name of war,
we gather in the name of the Prince of Peace. Amen.

Well, I’m tired and so weary, but I must go along
‘til the Lord comes and calls me away
Well, the morning is bright,
and the Lamb is the Light
and the night is as fair as the day.
There the flow’rs will be blooming
and the grass will be green
and the skies will be clear and serene;
Well, the morning is bright in this valley of dreams
And no clouds there will ever be seen.
There will be peace in the valley for me some day;
There will be peace in the valley for me,
oh Lord, I pray;
there’ll be no sadness, no sorrow,
no trouble I’ll see
there will be peace in the valley for me.
Well, the bear will be gentle,
and the wolf will be tame
And the skies will be clear and serene;
Well the sun ever beams in this valley of dreams
And I’ll be changed from this creature I am.

with) this year’s Christmas Pageant “Child of the Stars”. This will be a short introduction to the script,

* About Today’s Music: We welcome Kaleb Koslowski (organ) and TCO’s Edwin Lang (trumpet). Thank
you for sharing your gifts of music today! The song “Pace sia, pace a voi” comes to us from the Focolare
Movement, a modern intentional community collective with installations across the globe. Describing
themselves as “a vast and varied family,” Focolare communities work to foster values of bridge-building
and mutual understanding between individuals and communities, and across cultures. You can learn
more about Focolare at www.focolare.org.
* Coffee Time Volunteers Needed
If you enjoy the coffee, tea and snacks after (and now before!) the service each Sunday, please consider
volunteering to provide the snacks and serve the beverages. We have a number of Sundays between
now and the end of the year for which we don’t have volunteers, and so our hardworking team needs
your help. We’ll also need extra volunteers for the Christmas holidays. Please send an e-mail to Doug
Harris [email protected] to express your interest. It would be especially appreciated if you can
volunteer in pairs!

Buy your book from us $ 11.75 as no library copies for November (email Carolyn as below). Published
20 years ago, it's a well-loved modern classic; read internationally. Based on an almost obscure woman
in the book of Genesis, the author spins a fascinating story while recreating that biblical period and
portraying the little-known life of women and their huge role in society. John Brown says this as an
excellent read! Enjoy lively discussions by the fire followed by the 9 pm Social Wine and Cheese. Held at
the home of Neil Riach and Carolyn Curren. Membership queries: contact Carolyn Curren [email protected] or 416-465-6174. Info: John Brown 416 463-0844.
