Home and School Association At Immaculate Heart of Mary School, the Home and School Association is a vital and active organization. Our volunteer parent group provides relevant programs to meet the needs of the IHM School community and offers meaningful ways to strengthen the bonds of our community. The Home & School Association enhances communication between parents and the school, coordinates volunteers, supports teachers and staff and provides supplemental income to strengthen the financial health of the school. Through the combined efforts of our parent volunteers and the generous support of the IHM community, the Home & School Association raised in excess of $109,000. The surplus of approximately $84,000 was returned to the school to use toward operating and capital expenses. The Home and School sponsored Major Fundraising events including the very successful A Night in Paris Auction and our QSP & Great American sale. These events netted more than $92,000. Our Ways and Means Committee sponsored numerous efforts including the Uniform Shop, Pizza DJ Night, the Advent Bake Sale, various Spirit Events, partnership programs, and Spirit Wear sales, all of which contributed to a successful fundraising year. Funds raised by the Association helped support the following activities during the school year: • Funds for teaching aids and classroom supplies • Kindergarten Picnic • Parent Coffees • Hosting of Grade Level Family Dinners • Grandparents Day Reception • Veterans Day Reception • First Communion Ice Cream Social • Catholic Schools Week • Red Ribbon Week • Marian Devotion Week • Military Packages • Screen-Free Week • Blessed Virgin Mary’s Birthday • Middle School Dances • Graduation Breakfast and Reception • Hospitality at Open House and Applicant Testing • Faculty/Staff Back-to-School Luncheon and Holiday Party • Faculty/Staff gifts, cards and rewards, as well as Teacher Appreciation Week • Light lunches and snacks at monthly staff meetings Immaculate Heart of Mary 2014 Annual Report Home & School Fundraising Net Results A Night In Paris Auction. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $79,881 QSP & Great American. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 12,268 Uniform Shop. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . *(14,154) Membership. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9,365 Partnerships. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4,398 Advent Bake Sale. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3,000 Pizza DJ Night . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4,141 Spirit & Field Day T-Shirts. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4,384 School Supply Packets . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2,376 Spirit Nights. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1,876 Poinsettia Sales. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 804 Other. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 855 Subtotal. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $109,193 (off by a dollar, should be $109,194) Home & School Expenditures Teacher Support Services. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $12,137 General Expenses. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4,612 Middle School Support Svcs. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2,870 Family Focused Services. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2,269 Spiritual Life. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1,963 Communications & Marketing. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 450 Subtotal. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $24,302 (off by a dollar, should be $24,301) Net Income Gifted Back to School:. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $84,891 (should be $84,893) The $84,891 gifted back to the school is for completion of phase two of the carpool canopy and for operating and capital expenses. *Negative income due to set up of uniform inventory with new supplier, Educational Outfitters. Verizon Wells Fargo Foundation School Advisory Council The School Advisory Council’s mission is to help foster the development of the school within the community and through the families that support it. The Council serves as a liaison between the Archdiocese, the school and the community at large through visionary leadership and works directly with the school administration to ensure academic and religious growth in a diverse Catholic Christian environment. COVER Dear Members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Family, One of the most important, and certainly the largest ministry of IHM parish, is our school. For over fifty years the good people of this community have supported its mission as a diverse school “striving to achieve excellence, in order to develop positive, productive Christians serving society.” The publication of our Annual Report gives us an opportunity to reflect on the past year’s successes and challenges and to look with great hope and enthusiasm to the future. IHM Finance Council The Parish Finance Council is an advisory body whose membership includes individuals with an expertise in management, business, civil law and/or finance. The Parish Finance Council does not have decision making authority, but actively reviews budgets and monthly financial reports and shares information, generates discussion and promotes consensus. They provide guidance and counseling to the pastor and principal, promoting the financial health of the parish and school. The administration and faculty continue to focus on the four pillars which guide the development of our students: Faith, Knowledge, Service and Integrity. As a Catholic School we are focused on the formation of all of our students into truly engaged members of their church community. Our school families recognize the value of a Catholic education and graciously make sacrifices of treasure and time so their children can enjoy the benefits of an IHM education. Our dedicated educators work tirelessly to build a foundation for our students to become critical thinkers and life-long learners. This is done within the context of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate. Through the combined efforts of our parent volunteers and the generous support of the IHM community, the Home & School Association raised in excess of $109,000. The surplus of approximately $84,000 was returned to the school to use toward operating and capital expenses. Highlights from 2013-14 included A Night in Paris Auction; support for faculty and staff in the form of classroom supply funds and gifts, cards and rewards; and a wealth of hospitality, service and social events and efforts.
