SETUP RECYCLING FACILITIES TO RECYCLE SEGREGATED MATERIALS 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL SETUP RECYCLING FACILITIES TO RECYCLE SEGREGATED MATERIALS CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION WASTE RECYCLING FACILITY: • One of the busiest facilities in the world, given the rate of construction in the UAE. • The facility recycles construction, demolition and land clearing debris resulting from the construction industry. • Annual capacity of more than 350,000 tonnes. 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL More than 6,000 tonnes of construction waste made up of concrete, bricks, wood, insulation and asphalt, is processed daily at Bee’ah’s Construction & Demolition Waste Recycling Facility, for re-use as aggregate for roads, pavements and walkways. SETUP RECYCLING FACILITIES TO RECYCLE SEGREGATED MATERIALS ORGANIC & GREEN WASTE COMPOSTING: • The Compost plant processes organic and vegetation waste via biological degradation by microorganisms. • This natural process breaks down organic waste into smaller organic compounds producing an earthy nutrient-rich compost that can be used in several applications – fertilizer and/or conditioner for gardening. • In future, the Plant will incorporate new innovations and processes, and find modern ways of expanding its scope and capabilities to treat other organic wastes to meet the high quality demands of our clients. 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL New innovations and processes are being explored to expand the Compost Plant’s scope and facility capabilities to treat other organic wastes to meet the high quality demands of its clients. SETUP RECYCLING FACILITIES TO RECYCLE SEGREGATED MATERIALS THE CAR AND METAL SHREDDING & RECYCLING FACILITY: • Considered one of the world’s most powerful shredding machine to date. • It shreds old car bodies and other light metal scrap, and segregates the individual metal, glass and plastic components for recycling. • The facility is operated on crawler tracks so that it can travel distances, weighs 44 tonnes and can shred 60 tonnes of car bodies/hour. 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL Considered the world’s most powerful shredding machine to date, the Car and Metal Shredding & Recycling Facility’s main purpose is the shredding of old car bodies and other light metal scrap, with the aim of segregating the individual metal, glass and plastic components for recycling. SETUP RECYCLING FACILITIES TO RECYCLE SEGREGATED MATERIALS MEDICAL WASTE PROCESSING & TREATEMENT: • Wekaya is the medical waste management division, for the safe and compliant collection, treatment and disposal of medical waste produced by healthcare establishments in Sharjah. • It provides the necessary transfer containers, collects them, and safely treats and disposes of the medical waste while ensuring maximum infection control and maintains accurate tracking documentation. 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL The E-Waste Dismantling Facility SETUP RECYCLING FACILITIES& TOProcessing RECYCLE SEGREGATED MATERIALS THE E-WASTE DISMANTLING & PROCESSING FACILITY: The E-waste Dismantling & Processing Facility provides both a secure and environmentally conscious solution for the disposal of hazardous consumer goods and counterfeits. Bee’ah collects transports and disposes of electronic products to this facility for dismantling and recycling of parts. 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL The E-waste Dismantling & Processing Facility provides both a secure and environmentally conscious solution for the disposal of hazardous consumer goods and counterfeits. ESTABLISH INDUSTRIAL WASTE EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES TO REDUCE INDUSTRIAL WASTE & ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH PROGRAMMES Our team is comprised of highly qualified and experienced personnel that produce various plans ranging from assessment studies, emergency response, audits and inspections that include: • Environmental Baseline Surveys (EBSs) • Environmental Health & Safety Impact A ssessments (HSEIAs) • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) • Facility Inspections • Occupational Health & Risk Assessments (OHRAs) • Hazards Identifications (HAZIDs) • Hazards of Operations (HAZOPs) • Spill Contingency plans • Fire & Safety and Emergency response plans • Health & Safety Audits • Environmental Audits & Waste Exchange Programmes 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL ESTABLISH INDUSTRIAL WASTE EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES TO REDUCE INDUSTRIAL WASTE & ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH PROGRAMMES • The Bee’ah Environmental Research Institute was launched in line with Bee’ah’s growth strategy to be a global leader for creating positive environmental change throughout the Middle East. • The Institute’s main objective is to give students the opportunity to learn and explore new technologies and concepts that could aid environmental sustainability, while also researching alternative environmental waste management practices. 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL GERC IS A JOINT PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BEE’AH AND THE AMIRICAN UNIVERSITY OF SHARJAH (AUS) WASTE TO ENERGY: IMPLEMENTING CONVERSION TECHNOLOGIES Bee’ah’s strategic plan focuses on diverting waste from landfill and increasing the diversion rates from 62% to 100% in three phases: ① Enhance the current operations and technical capabilities of current facilities. ② Set up additional recycling facilities to increase recovery from current levels to 65-70% ③ Waste to Energy program (WTE) instead of the Landfill making diversion 100%. 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL EDUCATION & AWARENESS TO FACILITATE SOURCE SEGREGATION 2015 ZERO-WASTE TO LANDFILL EDUCATION & AWARENESS TO FACILITATE SOURCE SEGREGATION • • Bee’ah is the first environmental company to introduce an online and offline education programme that targets students from KG to grade 12.
