GET READY for the NEW SAE RECOMMENDATIONS
GET READY
for the NEW SAE RECOMMENDATIONS
After more than four years of testing and research with the National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health and key industry partners , the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is publishing their
“Recommended Practice” concerning the forces that an ambulance cot, fastening system, and patient
restraints should be able to withstand in a 30 mile-per-hour crash. Both the GSA KKK-A-1822F specification
and the NFPA-1917 standard plan to adopt the SAE recommendations into their ambulance purchasing
specification.
Traditional “Antler and Rail” fastening systems will NOT meet these new requirements.
The Ferno® Stat Trac® Cot Fastening System has been tested to the new SAE recommendation and is
fully compliant. Stat Trac compatible cots and the new iN∫X™ Integrated Patient Transport and Loading
System™ provide you with a complete set of solutions to meet the new standards.
Stat Trac® Cot Fastening System
In addition to meeting dynamic crash test
standards for maximized patent safety, the Stat
Trac cot fastening system eliminates the need
to steer the cot into the ambulance minimizing
operator strain on angled surfaces. The single-hand
release and wide-angle entrance-guide facilitate
ease of loading on uneven terrain for maximum
versatility. The Stat Trac can be quickly removed
without the use of tools for easy cleaning of your
ambulance and for interoperability within your
fleet. The Ferno Stat Trac is compatible with the
Ferno 35X PROFlexx® manual x-frame cot and Ferno
POWERFlexx+® powered x-frame cot. The iN∫X will
be compatible with a new fastening system that
will be available in Fall 2014.

Ferno’s COMPATIBLE SOLUTIONS
POWERFlexx+® Powered Cot
The POWERFlexx+ Powered Ambulance Cot lifts and
lowers patient loads up to 700lb, reducing situations
where operators may injure their back. The POWERFlexx+
also features advanced power management and the ICS
in-the-fastener charging system, eliminating battery
management and the need to carry around extra batteries
or take them out to charge.

35X PROFlexx® Cot
The Ferno 35X PROFlexx® X-Frame Ambulance Cot
provides industry leading stability and safety to reduce the
chance of injury to you or your patients. A rigid C-channel
and carefully designed frame geometry reduce your
chance of tipping or flipping the cot. The exclusive EZ-Pull™
release handle reduces wrist strain and helps you assume a
stable position yourself before you take the weight of the
cot to raise or lower.

iN∫X™ Integrated Patient Transport
and Loading System™
The iN∫X™ system eliminates the need to lift during raising,
lowering, loading, and unloading, reducing situations
where operators may injure their back. The iN∫X features
an integrated loading system for no-lift loading and
unloading, independent X-Frame leg movement so you
can go over obstacles with your thumb, not your back,
and an integrated lighting system that allows you to see
and be seen in dark, hazardous spaces. The iN∫X will be
compatible with a new fastening system that will be
available in Fall 2014. The iN∫X will also feature in-thefastener charging, eliminating the need to manage your
batteries.
