History of our company
1885
Walter Blombach, the great-grandfather of today's owner, Birgit Lennartz,
founded a file manufacturing business as a family business in Klausen
near Remscheid.
In the previous century, these products were already being sold to many
countries by exporters in Remscheid, Hamburg and Bremen.
At the turn of the century, the first electrical file manufacturing machines, as
well as a forging hammer, were acquired. The business ran well up to the
First World War.

But then, the sons and all employees were called up for military service. In
spite of this, Walter Blombach was successful in continuing to lead the
company through the time of war and to maintain it!
1922
His sons, Max, Fritz and Eugen took over the family company in 1922.
From that time the company was called "Walter Blombach und Söhne".
Many setbacks had to be endured due to times of inflation and unemployment. In spite of all this, it was possible to extend the range of products. In
1928, vices for the home shop were manufactured for the first time.
The Second World War also left its traces on the company. In the meantime, co-owner, Max Blombach had left the company to found his own
business!
Once again, almost all employees were called up for military service and
the owners, Fritz and Max Blombach were left with only a few remaining
employees, who nevertheless stood by the company faithfully.

From 1951 onwards, Fritz Blombach led the company "Richard Blombach"
with his son, Werner.
Eugen Blombach founded the company "Walter Blombach & Co" with his
sons Max and Walter. Their trademark "WABECO" is, meanwhile, well
known worldwide.
The product range was enlarged extensively. Additional articles, such as
filing vices, screwdrivers, levels, screw clamps, special knives, anvils and
many more, all found their way from Klausen to European countries and
overseas.

A new factory was built in Klausen in 1954 and later, an office building was
added.
History of our company
1961-1969
In 1961, a branch was established in the existing building in Neuerburg,
district of Bitburg. The complete production was moved to Neuerburg.
In 1966, the new building for administration and sales was officially opened
in Remscheid.
In 1969, a new production centre including a paint shop, a locksmith's
shop, a foundry, an apprentice shop, a tool room etc. was set up on the
grounds of the station in Neuerburg.

In cooperation with well-known steel works, a new vice made of very lightweight, fracture-proof and shock-resistant material was developed and
launched on the market "Simalit 70".
1989
1973
The first WABECO lathe was introduced at a hardware exhibition in
Cologne in 1973.
The production range was being enlarged continuously. Articles such as
drill stands, drilling and milling stands, miter-box saws, band saws,
grinding machines, disc sanding machines, universal attachments with
base and sharpening machines were developed and launched on the market.

1980
In 1980, the first WABECO milling machines went in a serial production.
1987
In 1987, the first WABECO CNC lathe was shown at the hardware exhibition in Cologne, in cooperation with the University of Oldenburg.
1989
The milling machines were developed into CNC milling machines. Highly
efficient control units and user friendly software were developed and
added to the program.
1980
Today the WABECO machines are being developed and improved continuously. There is the possibility to make WABECO CNC lathes and milling machines into a manufacturing cell, i.e. parts are turned in the CNC
lathe then transferred to the CNC milling machine by means of a robot, in
order to perform drilling and milling operations.
WABECO has earned a good reputation for itself as a manufacturer of
gears, in cooperation with well known national and foreign companies.
The spectrum includes all the necessary equipment for boring and cutting
cement.

Round column drilling machine
on a scale of 1:5
An old round column drilling machine made by Alzmetall was
the original which Jörg Scepanski produced as a full functional model on a scale of 1 : 5. Mr. Scepanski produced all
the turned pieces on his WABECO Lathe D2400 E. All the
milled parts he made on his WABECO F1210 E high speed
mill.
The machine stand is milled out of a full block of brass. The stand
is milled hollow like the original and has four support feet. The contact surface of the work piece is milled out of stainless steel and is
connected to the machine base. The stand is drilled to fit the vertical and tapered holder of the round column. The tapered holder
is turned completely out of one piece of red brass. To get a strong
interference fit, the collet of the holder is turned a few hundredths
mm larger than the hole in the machine stand.
The machine round column is turned out of a full block of stainless steel. The round column is a few hundredths mm larger than
the hole of the tapered holder and therefore provides an interference fit.
The table is milled out of a full block of brass. The original from
Alzmetall is made of cast iron and the underside of the table has a
complex ribbing. The ribbing of the model is the same as the original. At first the bore of the round column was drilled. The working
surface of the table was milled out of stainless steel including the
T-slots for the T-nuts. The crankcase is milled out of red brass and
screwed on to the table. For the crank gear (for raising and lowering the table) a worm gear and a worm shaft were used, which
were built into the crankcase. The rack is grooved into the hole for
the round column and interlocks with the worm gear, exactly as it
is in the original. In this way it is possible to crank the work table
in the required position. In order to clamp the table for drilling or
swivelling it out of the way, the table was split on the backside of
the round-lead-hole. On the top is an adjusting screw and counter
nut and underneath is a clamping lever. Thereby it is possible to
adjust the table free of play. The clamp lever was milled and filed
out of brass. The clamp lever was milled hollow on the inside with
a 1 mm radius milling cutter.
The machine head is milled out of aluminium. The “inner workings” of the machine head consists of an outer spindle of stainless steel including the depth gauge, the inside spindle made of
titanium with an MT3 collet in a scale of 1 : 5 with a space for the
engaging piece of the drive pulley, the shaft and the gear wheel for
the spindle travel, recuperating spring for the spindle including
depth gage, the spring stop plate made of titanium, two drive pulleys made of brass, working lamp including the reflector made of
polished stainless steel, an extra control lamp for the work lamp
which gives light for the table, two switches, a lot of cables and
resistors… etc, etc, etc.
The inside spindle with the tool collet is positioned in the outside
spindle with two ball bearings. The drive pulley for the inside
spindle is in a large ball bearing, which is positioned in the
machine head. For that reason it doesn´t put any pressure on the
drive O-ring of the inside spindle. In this way a correct travel is
given to the outside spindle. In the outside spindle a rack was
milled to engage the drill travel. It is possible to adjust the depth
stop infinitely to the desired drilling depth. Exactly like the large
Alzmetall, the drilling depth will be read on a scale at the front.

Turned and milled on WABECO lathes and milling machines
The machine head cover is milled out of a full block of aluminium. The name plate is made of 1mm brass plate sawn out
with a goldsmith fretsaw and cleaned up with small files. The
name plate is 10 mm high and a 54 mm long. Finally the name
plate was silver plated and chemical etched on the black base
plate.
The front side of the machine head is milled out 15 mm in
depth. An edge of 3 mm is left. In this edge a control panel was
milled for the head plate with switches and buttons. The buttons are dummies. Both switches are operational and turn on
the motor and the working lamp. The body of rev.-counter is
made out of a base plate of brass. The classification lines are
painted on the white coated instrument dial. The figures are
glued on separately. The needle is sawed and filed out of a
brass plate of 0.2 mm thickness. The 0.8 mm thick glass plate
was ground round with a diamond grinding disc and embedded into the dial. After that a turned stainless steel cage ring
was put on.
The original motor is screwed on the outside at the back of
the machine head. In the case of the model a
“Glockenankermotor” including a gearbox was fastened in
exactly the same place. Because the motor is visible, and
since such a small motor doesn´t look like the original, a
dummy cover of red brass was milled and turned. The cover
was placed over the electric motor and held by the clamping
plate of the motor. The cooling fins were milled in using a 1.8
mm milling cutter, the cooling fins have a thickness of 0.8 mm.
The connection box is integrated in the cover. It is possible to
open the box to get at the cables to the motor at any time. The
fan cover underneath is milled out of brass.
The connection box is milled out of a full block of brass and
inside hollow like the original. The cover is screwed from the
outside. Inside the box are the connection cables and the two
screws that hold the machine head on the round . The screw
connections are milled and turned out of one piece of brass.
The upper nut is offset by 30°, so that it looks like it is tighten.
The upper hexagon was milled on the dividing attachment,
than reversed, 30° offset, clamped and then the lower hexagon was milled. The T-slots of both hexagons were grooved on
the lathe.
Operating- Drilling with the model is an absolute pleasure.
You don´t want to stop. The model has such power that there
is no problem drilling brass or stainless steel. The depth gauge
can be adjusted to any desired drilling depth. Thanks to the
motor it is almost impossible to stop the 8.8 mm thick spindle
with your fingers. The voltage supply is 24 volts. For better
vision you can use the working lamp, which is in the radius of
the machine head.

the dovetail guides are adjustable and play-free. Milled
graduations in the graduated collars make cuts in the
hundredths range possible. The upper slide can be rotated 360° on the traverse slide in order to turn different
tapers.
Inside turning
Powerful tailstock - in order to turn slender tapers, the
upper part of the tailstock can be adjusted. The tailstock
sleeve is provided with a internal morse taper MT2.
A graduated scale on the sleeve allows the depth setting
to be read.
Precision guides - precision-ground high-quality solid
steel guide ways guarantee a high level of durability,
precision and a long life.
Drilling
The ON-OFF switch is equipped with a low voltage
release, i.e. the machine will not re-start automatically
in the event of a power failure. The drive electronics are
equipped with a multiple fault monitoring circuit and this
permits a smooth start under all operation conditions.
Easy maintenance - WABECO lathes are easy to
maintain because all the modules are easy to reach.

Extremely rigid work spindle in extendable sleeve - the precision
ground work spindle with an accuracy of 0.01 mm and is mounted in a
generously dimensioned drilling and milling quill with anti-friction bearings.
The milling head can be swivelled 90º to both sides for drilling and milling at every angle. The vertical position can be set by means of a hardened and ground conical index pin.
Tool, clamping and ejection system for mounting and ejecting tools

Construction - the machine column and cross table are
produced from annealed high-quality ribbed grey cast iron.
The spindle milling carriage with vertical milling spindle is
guided along a vertical column.
The advantage of this type of construction is that there is
good absorption of the cutting force and the weight of the
work piece. The height of the work piece remains constant, making both work piece and chucking fixture easy to
handle.
High torque on the work spindle allows working without
problems even in the lower speed ranges for example
when machining materials which are hard and difficult to
cut.
Gear milling - module mill
A wide toothed belt between the motor and the work
spindle provides for slip-free drive.

Universal milling head adjustment - the milling head
can be rotated 90° in both directions. This allows milling and drilling operations at any angle. The angle
position can be easily read off the large scale. The vertical position can be set by means of a conical index
pin.
Functional tool clamping - the work spindle is equipped
with a new tool clamping and ejection system. This system
makes it possible to mount tools (milling cutter, drills, chukks, etc) in the tool spindle and eject them again with little
force even after many years. This makes any knocking
out of tools with a hammer causing damage to the spindle
bed, unnecessary.

Software - the CNC lathe software nccad basic
allows the easy creation of milling contours. By offering
the possibility of backlash compensation, nccad basic
provides for high accuracy when machining with a
machine tool equipped with trapezoid spindles (backlash).
Network
compatible software
An Update to nccad professional can be installed at
any time (provided that ball screws are used).
Type of control - 2 ½ D interpolation, i. e. two axes
can be displaced simultaneously. The 3rd axis can be
advanced when required. By supporting the microstepping feature, this control type guarantees a smooth run
and high position resolution.
Conventional machining – is possible with the
controller switched off.
Dialogue-oriented operator guidance
Program input - according to DIN 66025 with
G- and M functions as well as graphical programming.
Data import - the contour is imported in form of dxf
files from a CAD system such as Auto CAD or HPGL in
case of Corel Draw or as a STL file from inventor. nccad
basic automatically converts these files into an executable program. Designing may also be done in the
comfortable CAD mode.
Contour designing - CAD mode allows the input
or modification of coordinates i. e. instructions can be
modified, added and/or deleted. With nccad basic, the
contour to be milled can be drawn and displayed on the
monitor by using the mouse or the keyboard. As a standard, the CAD mode offers the drawing of straight lines,
arches, circles, polygons, engravings etc. The contours
can be moved, rotated, copied, mirrored and trimmed.

Graphic simulation - prior to the actual machining
of a work piece the operator may run a simulation. By
means of this method potential programming errors can be
eliminated in a quick and easy way and an unnecessary
collision can be avoided.
Operating panel - via the operating panel the CNC
milling machine can even be run without a program either
by direct input of the displacement value via the keypad or
by using the arrow keys of the operating panel. The current
values are displayed on the monitor.
Tool specification - serves for the administration of
the tools.
Machine zero point – is interrogated by means of a
reference travel via limit switches. Up to 20 further
zero points can be set.

- the CNC milling software nccad professional allows the easy creation of milling contours and simple 3D drawings. The Helix function is also available. CAD
is provided with the special features toothed wheel, ellipse,
curve interpolation, engraving, circuit board milling etc.

Type of control - 3D interpolation i. e. 3 axes can be
displaced simultaneously. The 4th axis is programmable in
CAD mode. In CNC mode (DIN 66025) all 4 axes can be
displaced simultaneously in one sentence. By supporting
the microstepping and the Look A-head feature, this control
type guarantees a smooth run and high position resolution
as well as an anticipatory program process. With nccad
professional the machine runs at a very high speed on all
axes and the work spindle can optionally be turned on or off
as well.

Terms and conditions of delivery
1.
All sales are subject to the terms and conditions set forth hereinafter and any deviation therefrom
shall require our written acceptance and approval. Terms and conditions set forth by any
purchaser cannot be accepted by us -even if not expressly rejected by us in writing or otherwise.
2.
Prices are quoted in €. List prices are invoiced as applicable on the date of delivery. All prices are
non-binding and subject to alteration.
3.
Design, finish, dimensions, weights, illustrations and specification data are, unless specifically
confirmed, approximate and subject to change. All rights towards changes of models and
modification of the production program are reserved and may be effected without any specific
notice. Our catalogues are protected by copyright, and any reprint and/or partial reproduction
shall require our specific written approval.
4.
Packing standards:
Various items are supplied in standard packages containing fixed quantities. It contrasting hereby
reserve the right to supply other quantities in the next higher or lower packing standard units.
5.
Delivery:
Delivery dates quoted by us are approximate and non-binding. The delivery period commences
with the date of our confirmation of order, yet is subject to the settlement of all details of delivery.
The delivery period shall be deemed as duly kept once readiness for shipment has been advised,
which also applies in all cases, where shipment is impossible due to reasons beyond our control.
Partial shipments: In the interest of prompt delivery, we are entitled to effect partial delivery,
whenever we are under stocked with certain sizes, which will then be shipped as soon as
available. The purchaser shall not be entitled to reject any such partial shipment as every
individual shipment is deemed as an original transaction.
Subsequent deliveries: Any item not in stock or available at short notice at the time an order is
received, will be held pending by us as an unfilled order until such time that we can effect
shipment.
6.
Acts of God, strikes, lockouts, catastrophes/disasters, operational breakdowns and shortage of
material shall release us from the delivery deadline for as long as any of the above events prevail.
7.
Shipment and devolution of risk:
Any and all risks passed to the purchaser tram the moment the goods ordered are accepted by
the forwarding agent or carrier for onward handling - at the latest when goods have left the
supplier's works. Routing, means of transport and packing shall be left to our discretion with
exclusion of any and all liability unless specific shipping instructions have been set forth.
8.
Retention of Title:
The goods supplied by us shall remain our property for as long as we still have unsettled claims
origination from the commercial relations with the purchaser.
The purchaser is entitled to use our goods - being our property in accordance with the aforesaid in the course of proper and acceptable business transactions, provided the purchaser meets the
obligations arising from the commercial relations with us, in due time. The purchaser is not,
however, entitled to pledge or assign the goods as a security for a debt. The purchaser is obliged
to safeguard our rights and title in the event of reselling the goods, if such resale is not performed
against cash payment.

In the event of the purchaser defaulting on payment, we are entitled to request the temporary
return of our goods, which still represent our property, without going to the extent of exercising the
right to withdraw and to fix a final deadline at the expense of the purchaser, provided such measures do not unduly interfere with the production activities in the operating facility of the purchaser.
9.
Damage Claims and Warranty:
Damages which also include the absence of warranted quality are covered by our liability as follows:
The purchaser is expected to inspect the goods immediately after receipt for damages and/or the
absence of warranted quality features. Apparent defects must be reported to us in writing within
ten (10) days; hidden defects must be reported in writing immediately upon discovery.
Goods proved to be unserviceable or showing defects likely to extensively impair their use due to
circumstances having occurred prior to transfer the risk, will be replaced or improved upon by us
at our option.
We extend the same warranty cover to replacements and improved upon items as is applicable to
the original delivery item.
The warranty period for replacement items is the same as for new delivery items. If we have not
been able to meet a deadline extension imposed upon us without having provided a replacement
or having repaired the damage, the purchaser hag the right to withdraw tram the sale.
No liability is accepted by us for subsequent damage due to circumstances beyond our control,
namely:
Inappropriate or inexpert use, incorrect assembly, installation and/or start-up by the receiving or
any third party, normal wear and tear, inadequate or negligent handling, unsuitable production
equipment and facilities, chemical, electro- chemical and/or electrical influences.
No liability is accepted by us for the subsequent results of inexpert changes, modifications and/or
repair work per- formed by the receiving or any third party without our express approval.
10.
The customer is not authorized to exercise any right of restraint against our claims or to set them
off with counterclaims unless such rights or claims are expressly recognized by us or have been
determined to have legal force.
11.
Place of fulfilment and jurisdiction for all mutual claims is Remscheid, Germany.
