C l u b H Polar Bear PLUNGE The 15th Annual New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge is scheduled for Friday morning, January 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Surf Club beach. It’s here that members will dash into the Atlantic Ocean to celebrate the New Year. Hot chocolate served afterwards. Commemorative Polar Bear T-shirts will be on sale. I wanted to inform you that effective December 15th, the Inn & Club’s Membership Initiation Fee will be going up from $23,000+tax to $25,000+tax. Now is a great time for you to recommend a new member to the Club before the initiation fee escalates. Breakfast with Santa Members are invited to join Santa and Mrs. Claus for a delightful breakfast buffet on Saturday, December 12 from 8-11 a.m. Here’s just a sampling of what to expect: Seasonal Fruit & Berries – Assorted Juices – Yogurts Cereals, Muffins, Bagels & Danish – Fluffy Scrambled Eggs Buttermilk Pancakes – Sausage Links – Applewood Bacon – and more! Throughout the morning, the “First Couple of the North Pole” will be available to pose for photographs. Children can also enjoy the Crafts Table and the Candy Bar. Each youngster will be given guidance and all the arts & crafts supplies to create a lovely holiday gift for the family. The cost is $25 per child. Gingerbread House Decorating A Gingerbread House Decorating party is scheduled for Sunday, December 6 from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Conference Center’s Ballroom. A “Sleighful” of Holiday Fun Join in on the fun of the season with these activities! hayrides Santa will again lead all Members through the streets of Ponte Vedra in his decorated holiday hay wagon. There are TWO hayrides scheduled on separate dates: Saturday, December 12 (a ride every 30-minutes from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.) and Sunday, December 20 (a ride every 30-minutes from 1 to 5 p.m.). The cost is $5 per person (infants under 18 months are free) which includes beverages and cookies. Meet at the Surf Club Entrance. Reservations are required, please call 285-1111 ext. 7604. Holiday Crafts! There’s no better time to get in the Christmas Spirit than Wednesday, December 23 by creating Candy Cane Wreaths and decorating Christmas Cookies. Twas the night before Christmas! On Saturday, December 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., The Inn will be hosting Polar Express themed event for the young ones sure to bring out the spirit of the season. An admission of $25 per child (18 months and younger free) provides access to the following fun: Story Time with Mrs. Claus Fun for Elves Join the First Lady of the North Pole as she reads a holiday story to the young ones. It’s a great chance for parents to browse through the wonderful selection of holiday gift items. 12:30 - 2 p.m. A variety of imaginative craft stations will be displayed in the Lagoon Room. In addition to craft stations, there will be a ‘Letters to Santa’ table, where boys and girls can write to Santa about how good they have been this year. Polar Express Refreshements All aboard the Polar Express! This small batch Florida sugar cane vodka is hand crafted, distilled and bottled by hand in Fernandina Beach. Marlin & Barrels small batch approach means a clear, light, and smooth Vodka for your palate. Shop Local An Evening of Italian Cuisine On Monday, December 21, from 5:30-9 p.m., the Chef will be featuring another of his popular Italian themed dining experiences in the Golf Club Restaurant. The cost is $28 per adult which includes a glass of Chianti. Service charge and tax additional. $7 for children. Reservations are requested. In December, two local companies will be in the Gourmet Shop to showcase their unique products. The Topsy Toffee owner will offer a sampling of his gourmet toffee on Friday, December 11 from 9 a.m. to Noon. Later that weekend on Sunday, December 13, a local honey maker, Stubbees, will have a tasting of their unique blend of handmade creamed honey from 9 a.m. – Noon. Please stop by and enjoy! Dazzling Desserts Tuesday, December 1 is National Pie Day and to celebrate the Gourmet Shop will discount all pie orders 10% from December 1 – 7. Each pie is handmade by PVIC’s Pastry Chef and include classics such as Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Apple Pie, as well as more adventurous delights like Bourbon Pecan Pie. His menu focuses on coaxing the most flavor out of individual ingredients. Examples of his artisic creations are Port Orange Swordfish with Baby Beans, Gremolata & Mirepoix Escabeche; Mayport Shrimp with Orange Purée, St. Augustine Distillery Rum, Red Fresno Jalapeño, Garlic, and Carrot (pictured left); and Hudson Valley Foie Gras and French Gnocchi with San Sebastian Vintners infusions and Seasonal Garnish. This, the most popular event of the year, begins with a 8:30 a.m. breakfast in the clubhouse followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start conducted on both courses. Beverages will be served during play and after the round concludes. Register in the Pro Shop. The Ponte Vedra Women’s Golf Association annual Christmas Luncheon is planned for Thursday, December 10. This popular event is preceded by a “Step Aside” Captain’s Choice competition at 8:30 a.m. on the Ocean Course. All participants are encouraged to dress in holiday-themed attire.
