José Maria Trénor Löwenstein
Praktik Hotels
José María Trénor (Barcelona, 1974) is the founder and one of the main investors of the Spanish
chain of innovative, stylish-looking and budget-friendly Praktik Hotels. In 2003, he took over a family

a banker in JP Morgan. After some years managing the hotel and gaining a lot of experience (he
franchised it with AC Hotels, now a Marriott brand), he decided to go on his own and open The
Praktik, the first of the current 5 Praktik Hotels. They share a common philosophy: boutique-style
hotels with great attention to design, competitive prices and unmatched locations in the city center.
His ambition is to build hotels that offer an experience not just a bed. More than that: he believes that
hotels should be a meeting point for locals and guests to mingle with each other. Best example is
Barcelona’s Praktik Bakery that integrates a real bakery within the hotel, always crowded with both
locals and clients, run by one of the most well-known bakeries in town. He is excited to keep on
growing. His goal: to open a Praktik Hotel in every important city in the world!
