Peter T. Campon Council 206 136 Park Ave. Binghamton, NY 13903 www.kofc206.org [email protected] GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE Brother Knights and Friends, I would like to thank everyone for entrusting me as your Grand Knight for another year. I am more than just merely encouraged and proud with the accomplishments, the brotherhood and the charity our council has demonstrated this past year. I am truly humbled and inspired. We have held fundraisers, helped organizations and people in our area, we reach out to our community to assist them and promote our faith, charity and brotherhood. We have created and continue to operate under a budget; we are continually working closer as an organization to find ways to improve what we do and how we do it. We have accomplished much in the past year but our journey is far from over. As we encounter bends and forks in the road, it is imperative we move forward. Some of the projects we are working on and could use your help are; the 2016-2017 Columbian year budget, Hall renovation projects such as new bathrooms, hall cleanup, painting, and other improvements. We will have our turkey party, coat drive, Keeping Christ in Christmas campaign. We have streamlined our business meetings so they start earlier and end as close to one hour as possible. We have a lot on our plate for the upcoming holidays and year. We need your help and hope to see you and hope you can help us as we continue to move forward and increase our presence and charity in our community. I hope to see more members at our meetings and please bring a friend. We are proud members of the Knights of Columbus. We would like to show others what we can offer in theirs and others lives. I am proud and honored to be your Grand Knight of Council 206. Let us not allow our work to stop but make sure it keeps growing. We do it together! Vivat Jesus! Tony DelNero FATHER COREY’S CHAT Brothers: Because of your powerful prayers. I am nearly recovered from 4 leg surgeries, Bells Palsy and surgery to repair a brain aneurysm, in the last 15 months. Thanks for your prayers and patience with my absence from our meetings. I will see you all soon. I am elated with the elevation of Mother Theresa to Sainthood and suggest your devotion to her and her message of dedication to serving the poor as a serving of Jesus Christ. The Knights have been a huge supporter of her mission and her cause for Sainthood for many years. We are now entering into our Fall season, a time for us to reflect on the beauty of creation, the wonder of the cycle of all nature and life. Re-dedicate yourself to our Order every day to the protection of all life, especially the unborn. May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in his love. Fr. CENTRAL NEW YORK CHAPTER KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS , PRESIDENT INDIAN HILL PILGRIMAGE—2016 Dear Brother Knights and family: The Knights of Columbus is overjoyed to share with everyone an extraordinary gift; a gift to us and to the Diocese of Syracuse. We have discovered that right here in the Syracuse area, under our very feet; the earth received the blood of courageous witnesses for Christ, martyred for the sake of the name of Jesus and Church, who are our brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ. We are bringing to light a glorious moment in the history of the local church, which has been hidden from all but a few for 300 years. On Sunday, September 25, 2016, a Memorial Service will be held, at Indian Hill in Manlius, N.Y., to commemorate the Celebration of the 1st Mass in New York State. We will be attending 10:15 mass at St. Ann’s. All Brother Knights, color corp, families and friends are encouraged to attend. A family picnic with a light lunch and beverages will be served immediately following the Memorial service that will begin about 12:00 P.M. This year, we draw on our tradition of pilgrimage and its place in the Christian life, and out of that understanding we celebrate the gift of glory that Christian martyrdom is to the Church, particularly in this diocese. We hope that you’ll take the time to be with us this day to honor the martyrs and enjoy the pilgrimage to Indian Hill. The service will last approximately 20 minutes. It would be much appreciated if each person attending could bring one or two lawn chairs to enhance comfort. Also, there is no cover at the site. Those of you who may be sensitive to the sun may want to wear a hat or bring an umbrella. On behalf of the Knights of Columbus I hope you will make a special effort to attend this service and let us all worship as a Catholic Family. Fraternally, Brian Brian Langdon Chairman
