There are not many places in the world where diving is so easy
as in Curaçao. The island offers many beaches where you can
simply walk from the shore into the sea. The water here is
crystal clear, providing a perfect visibility of an amazing
underwater world full of brightly coloured tropical fish.
Reefs surround the island, attaching to the shore like a narrow fringe.
In some places they are like beautiful gardens, with delicate corals and abundant fish. It is no wonder that diving is one of the most
popular sports on Curaçao!
Curaçao has some popular wreck dives, and there are over 60 dive
sites in total. Most notably is the Superior Producer at a maximum
depth of 30 meters (100 feet). The Tugboat is also very popular as it
is in shallow water at 5 meters (15 feet) and is excellent for
photography. Another favorite is the Airplane Wreck, which is a shore
dive and the location is marked on the surface with a buoy.
For me, the best dives are the Blue Bay Wall, Seldom Reef and
Alice in Wonderland where there are copious amounts of star coral.
