Retaining One Bull
Dr. Steve Schultz has done a stringent BSE (Breeding
Soundness Evaluation) on every bull in this sale. Each
bull selling has passed Dr. Schultz’s tests and is considered a satisfactory and potential breeder. All bulls are
guaranteed as breeding bulls through the first breeding
season. If a problem should arise, please contact any of
the above numbers and we will offer a replacement bull
of equal or greater quality. If a replacement bull is not
available when needed, a credit will be issued for Mound
Creek’s 2015 Bull Sale.
Once we receive Spring 2014 EPDs and final DD results,
Mound Creek will select one bull to retain possession and
we will only sell special semen packages from this bull.

Directions to Mound Creek Ranch
Located northeast of Madisonville or southeast of Centerville. From I 45, take Exit 152 and go east on Hwy
OSR. About 6.5 miles from I 45, turn north on FM 579
and go 1.9 miles to Mound Creek Ranch. From Crockett, go west on Hwy 21 to Midway. Take a right on Hwy
OSR and go about 7.5 miles and turn north on FM 579.
Mound Creek sale entrance will be 1.9 miles.
Developmental Duplication (DD)
This is a simple recessive genetic condition first reported in Brangus cattle in August 2013. All cattle tested as
DD Carriers will be reported on our website prior to the
sale and also will be made available at sale time. The
incidence of this issue is very small in this sale offering
potentially affecting less than ten bulls and four females.
Palpation
The palpation of this sale offering has been performed
both physically and with ultrasound. You will be given
our best estimate as to the breeding status and service
sire of each female. Palpation is still a best estimate
and not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Each female
called bred is so guaranteed.
Herd Health
Mound Creek Ranch is a Brucellosis Certified Free. All
cattle have been inspected for health and fertility by our
veterinarian, are current with annual vaccinations and
come with interstate health papers.
Cattle Load Out
Cattle can be loaded out during and after the sale. We
ask that any pot-sized loads wait until the conclusion of
the sale. We will load out cattle on Saturday and Sunday
and ask that each buyer inform the clerks of your desire
to load out on Sunday along with an approximate time of
arrival. If you require a load out on another day, please
inform the clerks as to your desired date and time.

on March 14 and 15. We have fun talking about our Silver Anniversary Sale but that is strictly due to the fact our catalog cover theme
is silver. In reality Mound Creek Ranch has been in the registered seedstock business for 27 years and collectively over that period of
time we have hosted 33 production sales with the last 27 of those sales taking place at our current sale facility since the fall of 1999.
As you read this brief introduction to our 2014 sale offering we hope you realize Mound Creek Ranch has always tried to offer highly
accountable cattle for any and all programs spread around a global beef industry by being creative, innovative, and futuristic in our
approach to a well thought out genetic program. We are more passionate about the Brangus business than ever before even though
we have hosted more sales than any current Brangus breeder. We hope you realize upon reflection that Mound Creek Ranch is your
most reliable source for fault free, well designed, and accountable Brangus genetics. We are the program Tested by Time............
As has always been the case we never consider short term solutions to long term problems, and because of this thesis we have
given all of our efforts to being innovators, creators, and outside the box thinkers. Eighteen years ago we felt the entire Brangus breed
was lacking in so many areas of economic importance so Mound Creek began remodeling our entire herd based on the fundamentals
of redesigning Brangus genetics using foundation Angus and Brahman to achieve a more fault-free registered Brangus. We referred
to these efforts as our New Genetics program. Strict emphasis was placed on early puberty, soundness of hoof and leg structure, calf
raising value, total performance, carcass merit, fleshing ability, breed back rates, and quality of individual phenotype.
Now, all these years later practically every animal at Mound Creek traces back to this design effort. We require our heifers calve
at two, our entire cow herd calve every spring season, our entire bull calf crop pass a viable semen test between 11 and 13 months
of age, and our yearling bulls successfully perform in the breeding pastures at 13 to 15 months of age. We have not trimmed a single
hoof in this entire set of sale bulls and every female in the genetic herd has passed our udder quality standards while delivering a
viable and marketable calf each year. Our pressure for performance and carcass merit continues to raise the bar to new heights each
year. This year is highest performing to date as the entire set of bulls averaged 81 lbs. actual BW, 752 lbs. for AWW, 1316 lbs. for
AYW, 37.0 cm. SC, 3.96 lb. ADG, 15.0 in. REA, and 4.9% IMF! Although those are the best measured facts you will find in any set
of Brangus bulls anywhere in the world we still believe we can make our product better. Better as in more uniform, more consistent,
more durable, easier tempered, more aggressive in the breeding pastures, more fault free breeding females, less scurs, more uniform
color, and more valuable with greater demand in all market endpoints. The evolution at Mound Creek grabs another gear.
After several years of study, research, and deliberation Mound Creek embarked upon a new design program many call Ultrablacks,
but we call our New Brangus. Unlike other programs involved in Ultrablack production Mound Creek made the decision to use
the front end of our cow herd rather than the back end. Reason was simple for us. At any point in the future when you see cattle
from our New Brangus program, any and all can rest assured they are from the best end of our herd and intended to give us that
evolutionary step to making the best beef bulls in the world! We flush our top donor females and make a concerted effort to AI a top
quality set of females in our efforts to produce these extraordinary New Brangus stock bulls along with their sisters destined to be the
backbone of our female herd. Take a glimpse with us into the future. We now can tap the very best genetic resources from a breed
that records over 300,000 animals annually and still give you the best Brangus bulls in the country. Our first New Brangus offering is
phenomenal surpassing our lofty expectations. Stockmen will love these beefy, thick ended, wide bodied, deep sided, sound moving,
easy tempered beef bulls. This year our New Brangus bulls averaged 83 lbs. actual BW, 770 lbs. for AWW, 1370 lbs. for AYW,
38.7 cm. SC, 4.47 lbs. ADG, 15.5 in. REA, and 5.1% IMF! You be the judge. Compare against any other Ultrablacks in the country.

in removing substandard females from the herd, and each time we do this our ability to produce a better set of stock bulls improves.
Those tasks are not easy for you to see, measure, or quantify. However, we strongly believe these efforts you do not see are as
important as those weights and measures you can see printed in the catalog. We understand the responsibility that comes with your
commitment to our genetic program and so we take every step possible to fulfill our commitment to you as your seedstock provider.
The record cattle market continues to exceed all expectations. A pound of beef is worth more than ever before. We sell beef by

Those noted with a “UB” number are Ultra-Blacks, indicating they are a Brangus-Angus blend. “AX” recorded bulls are appendix registered purebred Brangus that have non-typical Brangus color pattern.
Polled/Scurs: Denotes bulls that are either smooth polled or have the presence
of scurs or slick spots. Those bulls noted as “scurs” typically have had scurs
removed post-weaning.
Summit Cow or Summit Sire: Are noted in pedigrees with the word Summit
or the abbreviation (SC or SS). Initially, must maintain a calving interval of 380
days or less, weaning at least 3 calves. The weaning weight ratio for all calves
must average at least 105%. Once a Summit Cow has earned her distinction
she will always be noted as such. A sire is given Summit status once he has at
least 5 daughters reach Summit Cow status
Individual Performance
Weaning or Yearling Weight Per Day of Age (WWDA and YWDA): In pounds
and calculated by dividing the actual weaning or yearling yearling weight taken
on weigh day by the number of days of age on weigh day.
Average Daily Gain (ADG): Expressed in pounds gained on a daily basis while
animal is on controlled gain test. Calculated by taking the weight gained between on test weight and off test weight (actual yearling weight) and dividing
this weight by the number of days between those two weight points.
Birth Weight (BW): Actual weight at birth, expressed in pounds.
Weaning Weight (205): Weaning weight adjusted to a constant 205 days.
Takes into account differences in days of age at weaning and age of dam .
Weaning Weight (Ratio): A direct comparison of an individual to all other individuals in its weaning contemporary group. Expressed as a percentage with 100
being the average for the group.
Yearling Weight (365): Yearling weight adjusted to a constant 365 days. Takes
into account differences in days of age at yearling time, average daily gain
post-weaning, and adjusted 205 weight.
Yearling Weight (Ratio): A direct comparison of an individual to all other individuals in its yearling contemporary group. Expressed as a percentage with 100
being the average for the group.
Scrotal Circumference (SC): Testicular circumference, measured in centimeters, and adjusted to 365 days of age.
Residual Feed Intake
RFI (Residual Feed Intake): A feed efficeincy trait that quantifies variation in
feed intake that is unrelated to body weight and average daily gain. Measures
animals that consume less feed than expected for a given body weight and
growth rate.
FCR (Feed Conversion Ratio): Daily dry matter intake expressed in pounds of
feed required per one pound of gain.
R InX (Residual Feed Intake Index): Expressed in % above or below average of
group. Calculated using measured RFI and average daily gain during test period.

Expected Progeny Difference
Expected Progeny Difference (EPD): The genetic predictor of how future
progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other
animals listed in the breed database.
EPD Accuracy: Since all bulls in this catalog are non-parents, their accuracies
are the lowest calculated by our national sire evaluation program. Every EPD reported is either current or an interim EPD. An EPD noted with a “P” is a pedigree
EPD which is the average of the parent’s EPDs.
Birth Weight EPD (BW): In pounds, predicts calf size and calving ease.
Weaning Weight EPD (WW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s
ability to transmit weaning growth to its progeny.
Yearling Weight EPD (YW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s
ability to transmit yearling growth to its progeny.
Milk EPD (Milk): Predicts a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability
as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other
words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering
ability.
Maternal & Growth EPD (TM): Expressed in pounds and used as a genetic
predictor of weaning weight taken by blending a combination of maternal milk
and weaning weight EPD values.
Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC): Measured in centimenters at yearling time,
predicts testicular size.
Ribeye Area (REA): Expressed in square inches, is a predictor of transmitting
ability of ribeye size and overall muscle mass which is a key component in USDA
yield grades.
Fat Thickness (FAT): In inches, is a predictor for external fat thickness and
correlates to fleshing ability and fat cover at harvest time.
Intramuscular Fat (IMF): Expressed as a percentage, is a predictor of transmitting ability for marbling or intra-muscular fat correlating to USDA quality
grade at harvest time.

We decided to lead our 2014 catalog off with this sire group of bulls that are the most powerful and intriguing set of bulls we have ever produced. Typically referred
to as Ultrablack we call our bulls New Brangus because these bulls, and their sisters, are the lead genetic resources in our approach to new genetic lines of Brangus
cattle certain to insure the future of our designed breeding program. Our approach to this Ultrablack program is unique to any other in the Brangus breed and is
founded on blending power packed Brangus and Angus genetics stacked for soundness, power, performance, muscle, testicle size, temperament, maternal value,
fertility, early puberty, and carcass merit. Our unique New Brangus were produced via embryo transfer and artificial insemenation from our front line females
rather than ordinary cows incapable of producing quality beef bulls. In other words, and unlike others, we used our best cows to build this New Brangus program.
Results reinforce the quality of our efforts when considering the quantifiable facts relative to this sire section of New Brangus bulls. From an average birthweight
of 83 lbs. the bulls in this section weaned at 771 lbs. then crushed the scales at 1370 lbs. average yearling weight while gaining 4.47 lbs. per day on test! Scrotal
circumference is 38.7 cm., ribeye area averaged 15.5 inches, and IMF is 5.1%! Impressive also is their average feed conversion of 6.3 lbs. with Residual Feed
Intake Index of 103%. Equally important these bulls will easily pass the eye test as impressive beef bulls genetically and phenotypically designed for the long haul .

CrossOver created more excitement than any bull
we have raised at Mound Creek when we unveiled
him in 2012. Everybody from our foreign visitors to
our friends in the Brangus business loved his visual
package and measured facts. Our intention had been
to keep total possession of CrossOver but our good
friends from Genex wanted to obtain foreign semen
rights so off he went. We have only sold a limited
300 total straws of CrossOver but averaged $150 per
straw sold from March of 2012 to March 2013. Our
first CrossOver offspring are selling in this offering
with a strong front end to contend for top honors in
a stout set of sale bulls. Maybe what we appreciate
most about CrossOver is his invaluable ability to sire
outstanding daughters. When we go through our
replacement heifers we know those at the front end

Residual Feed Intake (RFI) is defined as the difference between actual feed intake and feed intake predicted on the basis
of the animal’s daily gain and maintenance requirements for its body weight. For a given period of time every bull in this
sale noted with an RFI, FCR, and R InX value was tested at the Genetic Development Center south of College Station, Texas
in a feeding environment that measured every pound of feed consumed against every pound of gain. A more negative RFI
is favored as this indicates less feed intake for given weight and gain. These measurements also allow the computation of
daily Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) noted in pounds of feed consumed per pound of gain. Finally, Residual Feed Index (R
InX) is an index given as a percentage above or below the group average calculated using the RFI value and Average Daily
Gain during test period. A higher R InX indicates a more desirable overall ranking based within the test group.
We know we can select for improved efficiency by placing genetic pressure on this trait, and do so without negatively
affecting others areas in our production systems. If so we can meet other components of our breeding plan by redesigning
beef animals that have the genetic capacity to do more in their selected environments with less inputs. We believe this
selection program based on nutritional efficiency can affect, and improve economics in all areas of beef production from
cow herd foraging ability, backgrounding on planted
pastures, and feedlot conversion.
RFI Definitions
RFI (Residual Feed Intake): A feed efficeincy trait that quantifies variation in feed intake that is unrelated to body weight
and average daily gain. Measures animals that consume less feed than expected for a given body weight and growth rate.
FCR (Feed Conversion Ratio): Daily dry matter intake expressed in pounds of feed required per one pound of gain.
R InX (Residual Feed Intake Index): Expressed in % above or below average of group. Calculated using measured RFI and
average daily gain during test period.

xcept for those stated in the below terms and conditions, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to
the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantees set forth in the “Terms & Conditions” are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or
implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer, or any party through buyer,
for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities.
1. BIDDING: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids,
and his decision shall be final.
2. TERMS: All terms are cash or check. Settlement must be made to the clerk at the conclusion of the auction.
3. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but will not be delivered until
settlement has been made.
4. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: When full settlement has been made, a certificate of registration will be furnished and
transferred to the purchaser on those lots that are registered. Give full name and address to the clerk when making payment
so the Certificate of Registry will be transferred properly.
5. HEALTH: All animals where possession is sold are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise noted. The cattle
have been tested for Tuberculosis and Bangs disease within thirty (30) days of the sale date or come from a Brucellosis
Certified Free Herd or come from a Brucelosis Certified Free Herd or originate from a Certified Tuberculosis or Bangs free
state.. A health certificate will be furnished.
6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements from the auction box will take precedence over the printed matter in this catalog.
All cattle will be sold by lot numbers as announced by the auctioneer.
7. BREEDING GUARANTEE: (A) All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of (1) injury or disease occurring after sale; (2) negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. (B) Any bull which either (1) produces
viable semen; (2) settles 1/3 or more of the healthy cows he serves; (3) is the sire of 20 or more animals or; (4) settles cows
by natural service and passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during any six month trial period, shall be
considered a breeder.
8. LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. Cattle Brokers, Inc. has been employed by the
consignor(s) of the animals being sold solely for the purpose of advertising and conducting the subject sale. All information
regarding the subject animals as published in sales brochures and as announced at the sale is based on the representations
made to Cattle Brokers, Inc. by the consignor(s). Cattle Brokers, Inc. has not made any independent investigation to verify
and Cattle Brokers, Inc. assumes no liability, either legal or equitable, for failure of title, health registration and lien status of
the subject animals; and Cattle Brokers, Inc. makes no representations, either expressed or implied, as to whether or not
the subject animals are security under any lien, either legal or equitable.
9. PRIVATE BIDS: Phone, mail or wire bids may be furnished in confidential form to Cattle Brokers, Inc. at (979) 690-6612
or FAX (979) 690-6619.
10. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT: (A) All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing within six (6) months of the sale date. (B) Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within the time limits specified
above, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the right and privilege of
trying for a period of six (6) months to prove the animal a breeder. If proven a breeder, the animal will be returned at buyer’s
expense. Should the animal fail to breed, the seller will provide a replacement of the animal with another of equal or greater
quality. If a replacement animal is not available when needed, a credit will be issued toward your next purchase. (C) Any
animal returned must have a veterinarian’s certificate that it is healthy and free of Bangs and Tuberculosis.
