Powertec Engines
GSX-R Series I 4
Suzuki’s acclaimed GSX-R series of engines are
the basic building blocks of all Powertec racing
engines, incorporating state-of-the-art technology
with an unrivalled power-to-engine weight ratio.
The GSX-R1300 (Hayabusa) is widely recognised
as the world’s fastest production motorcycle, with
a top speed of 194mph (312 km/h.) Distinctive
features of the Hayabusa engine are its abundance
of low-end torque and strength of the components,
making it an ideal powerplant for four-wheel
applications.
Powertec have designed, manufactured and
developed a wide range of unique engine and
gearbox components, which are available to
customers to enhance the power and increase
the reliability of their race engine:
›Cylinder head race porting and polishing,
including oversize valve seats
›Performance camshafts, in a range of reprofiled
or billet cams
›High-strength roller ‘race’ cam chains
›Race valve gear including titanium retainers,
race valve springs and one-piece stainless steel
valves
›Cosworth lightweight, high-performance two and
three-ring pistons
›Oversized cylinder barrels with Nikasil plated
bores
›Arrow high-strength forged steel connecting rods
›Arrow billet long-stroke crankshafts
›Lightened, polished and knife-edged crankshafts
›High-strength clutch components including billet
clutch baskets/back plates, race springs and
steel clutch centres.
›Uprated gearbox components, including heavyduty steel shafts, stronger gears, close ratio sixspeed and three-speed gearbox kits
›Dry sump systems which eliminate oil surge and
improve efficiency
›Extra-high-volume oil scavenge pumps
›High-strength billet clutch slave cylinder
›Life Racing ECU and wiring looms

01. Powertec GSX-R1000
This unit is the ideal lightweight, high-revving,
small-capacity race motor, and includes:
› Race ported and polished cylinder head
› Reprofiled high-lift camshafts and adjustable
sprockets
› Titanium valves and retainers
› Race valve springs
› High-compression pistons
› Oversized bore and long-stroke crank options
› Crank lightening and balancing options
› Billet anti-surge baffled wet sump kits
› Up to 13,000 rpm rev limit
02. Powertec GSX-R1340
Redesigned in 2008 from 1299cc to 1340cc, with
a lighter, titanium valve train, higher compression
ratio, and a new cam profile, this engine features:
› Stronger gearbox
› Race ported and polished cylinder head
› Full range of Cosworth pistons available for
standard and oversize options
› Long-stroke crank and oversize barrel options
› Dry sump system with new design high-volume
oil scavenge pump

03. Powertec GSX-R Forced Induction
The GSX-R Hayabusa is the most popular donor
bike engine for turbocharging. Powertec have
developed a three-stage system designed primarily
to work in track applications. A Stage One system
can be fitted without any engine work, and will
produce 300bhp with around 6 psi of boost. Stage
Two upgrades require engine modification, but
will produce 350bhp with 12 psi of boost. Power
can be increased to 400bhp with the addition of a
chargecooler and further modification of the engine.
