Current best practice for teaching Motivational Interviewing
combines traditional installation training (e.g. 1-3 day
foundational or intro training) with either individual and or
group follow up for optimal skill development (Miller, W.R.,et
al.,2004, EMMEE). Many gains made after an initial training
can be enhanced and improved upon by follow up coaching
with feedback.
Got Group will show how Motivational Interviewing skills and
strategies are a natural fit with group models when the goal is
lasting and incremental behavior change (Wagner & Ingersoll,
2012). This program offers an unique blend of advanced MI
training and coaching with group facilitation strategies so that
providers are modeling and building MI spirit and skills within
themselves and also within the culture of the group members.
AUDIENCE
Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, mental
health professionals including substance abuse counselors, social
workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, school
counselors, dietitians, occupational therapist/assistants, physical
therapists/assistants, healthcare educators and other professionals
