2015 SESG Annual Meeting June 18th – 20th
Mark your calendars today! The SESG is going back to a favorite spot, beautiful Asheville,
North Carolina. Our meeting venue is at the 5-Star Inn on Biltmore Estate. Many of you
know the elegance of the historical Biltmore House and Gardens, and now there is so much
more to the Estate that the entire family will enjoy. The Biltmore properties offer lots of fun
for all ages. In addition to the array of tours of the elegant Biltmore House and Gardens,
there are many other activities such as horseback riding, carriage rides, float trips down the
French Broad River (excellent choice for the very young family), fishing, paddle boards,
kayaks, Land Rover-4 wheeling, hiking and biking trails, Segway trails, Sporting Clay Hunt
club, wine tasting and tour of vineyards, shopping and an array of restaurants in the Biltmore
Village. There will be golfing at the Jack Nicklaus Signature course the Cliffs at Walnut
Cove and shopping in the quaint downtown of Asheville. For more information on all these

We will kick off the family fun by having the Thursday evening welcome reception at the
Antler Hill Barn on the Biltmore Estate Property. Be entertained with a local flavor of music
by the Whitewater Bluegrass Band. Make sure to reserve time on Friday afternoon for a tour
of the vineyard and a bit of wine tasting. Plan to attend the farewell dinner on Saturday
evening at the Lioncrest, located on site.
Our distinguish speakers will be Dr. John Olmsted and Dr. Don Tyndall from the University
of North Carolina. Both will be speaking on Cone Beam CT Technology for the Endodontist. In addition, Dr. Olmsted will be leading a “Hands-on Course” on Saturday morning.

2014 Annual Meeting Recap
Atlantis was enjoyed by 55 endodontists, 46 children (under the age of 18) and many spouses, guests and older children totaling
71. All total 172 attendees enjoyed the beautiful beaches and endless activities at beautiful Atlantis in the Bahamas.
SESG Business Meeting Minutes - June 21, 2014

Dr. Timothy Mihle called the general assembly meeting of the Southern Endodontic Study Group to order at 12:00 p.m. and
thanked everyone for staying after the course to participate in the business meeting.
The minutes from June 15, 2013 were approved.
Treasurer’s Report - Dr. Stuart Miller reported the current balance in the checkbook is approximately $180,000. The SESG
bookkeeping is now being entered into QuickBooks and reports are provided to the Steering Committee. He said the SESG now
is able to accept credit cards. He shared that PNC Bank recommended some funds be moved from the checking account into an
investment account, such as a money market. The SESG Steering Committee will be discussing this further at a future
conference call.
Membership Report – Dr. Obermayr presented the report as printed. She welcomed new members in attendance. Review of the
SESG Bylaws re: Life Membership. Motion made to change the age for Life Membership from 60 to 65. Motion adopted
unanimously. Three applications for Life Membership were approved (grandfathered in under old bylaws).
Administrative Assistant – Dr. Mihle reminded everyone that last year the group decided to hire an administrative assistant.
Marlinda Fulton thanked the group for allowing her to attend the meeting and gave a brief overview of her experience with
dental associations. Marlinda left the room to allow for discussion and vote to retain/dismiss. Retained.
Reduced Meeting Registration Fee for Life Members – Dr. Obermayr explained that two years ago the Steering Committee was
supposed to report on this. She stressed that Life Members in the SESG are highly valued and are respected and provide
guidance. She said that for years to come the SESG must encourage Life Members to continue to attend the meeting and
participate. The SESG Steering Committee discussed this issue two years ago and it was decided at this time it was not fiscally
responsible to have reduced meeting fees for Life Members. The Steering Committee is challenged to try and make meetings
profitable and she suggested that the group revisit this issue after the SESG has financial history to allow for a more sound
decision.
Website Usage – Dr. Obermayr explained that the SESG is charged for each change to the site. She is looking into ways to save
money with website maintenance. The Steering Committee may retain the present company, but are also looking at other
options.
Incoming SESG Officer – The Steering Committee with approval from the members present welcomed Dr. Joseph Bernier as
the new Program Chair/Steering Committee Member.
Southwest Endodontic Study Club – Dr. Joel Small reported this group has expressed an interest to attend the SESG meeting at
the Biltmore. The Southwest Members registration fee for the 2015 meeting should be at the non-member rate. A motion was
made to invite the Southwest group to the 2015 meeting. Motion adopted unanimously.
There being no further discussion a motion was made at 12:38 p.m. to adjourn the meeting. Motion adopted unanimously.
