cords
Attach beading or rat tail cord using a zig zag stitch or decorative stitch. Always test stitch a
sample at a slow sewing speed and adjust the stitch width and length to fit the beads or decorative trim. For 4.0mm beads, a good guideline on stitch width is 4.0 and stitch length is 3.0-4.0
Mark a line for bead or cord placement on fabric.
Place beads or cord so that it extends 1 inch beyond the edge of the fabric and zig zag beads
or cord in place.

Decorative Stitch Techniques
Create Piping using the beading foot by using the 1/4 inch stitch and placing the wrapped cord
into the groove on the presser foot. Insert the piping into a seam line using the same technique.
Roll Hemming Techniques:
There are two optional hemming feet for the Exceed Series machines.
Rolled Hemmer Presser foot for Zigzag.
Rolled Hemmer Presser foot.
The Rolled Hemmer Presser Foot for Zigzag works best with light weight fabrics and creates
a rolled hem similar to the hem found on an overlock. Decreasing the stitch length creates a
decorative rolled hem.
The Rolled Hemmer Presser Foot for Zigzag:
Pull the top and bobbin thread under the foot and to the back of the machine so that the thread
tails extend approximately 3 inches. Place a few straight stitches onto the edge of the fabric
approximately 1/4 inch from edge.
Clip the corner of the fabric at an angle where sewing will begin taking care to not clip through
the thread tails.
Select the standard zig zag stitch on the machine and set the stitch length to 1.0.
With right side of fabric facing up, gently insert
fabric into the groove of the presser foot using
the thread tails to help guide fabric through
groove and under needle.
Decorative Stitch Techniques
The Rolled Hemmer Presser Foot works best with light to medium weight fabrics and creates a
narrow flat hem using the straight stitch on the sewing machine.
