HORECA LEBANON 2013 Opening ceremony HORECA 2013: Packing a punch A true pioneer of all hospitality events in the region, HORECA kicked off on April 9th and ran until the 12th at the Beirut International Exhibitions & Leisure Center (BIEL). On its 20th anniversary, the annual regional tradeshow stretched its wings across some 15,000m2 to showcase everything from product offerings to an extensive array of live demonstrations, competitions and workshops, as well as exceptional pavilions And as the confetti came out for the 20th anniversary revelry, there was another great cause for celebration. Lebanese President Michel Sleiman decorated HORECA’s visionary Nouhad Dammous with the National Order of the Cedar. The nod is a culmination of the luminary’s efforts to literally pluck the local hospitality industry from oblivion, polish its image both nationwide and globally, and set the academic foundation for its future. The fair endorsed Beirut as the Capital of Taste while also unveiling a string of exciting new features and add-ons. Demand for exhibition space surpassed expectation with 385 plus exhibitors, as well as a buyer and trade professional visitor turnout that pushed the 14,000 mark. HORECA has unyieldingly supported innovation, rewarded creativity and commended excellence with the myriad competitions it organizes. By popping into this area, trade professionals rubbed elbows with hospitality and foodservice industry experts and consultants who conveyed their invaluable advice so that entrepreneurs can develop their concepts and propel their businesses towards success. Annual Hospitality Forum Hospitality and food service leaders gathered in a series of conferences, enlightening workshops and cutting edge round tables to discuss hot topics, share knowledge and provide valuable insight on the latest consumer and product trends influencing the industry.
