Happy Spring! As the flowers and plants begin to grow and bud, it’s a great time for us to grow and learn some new
techniques as well. And this season we have some exciting guest teachers coming as well as some great classes
offered by our local teachers!
Darlene Miller will guide you through her techniques to find just the right shape for you and help custom fit your
pattern. This is a great opportunity to get personalized pattern fitting! Check out her classes on June 3, 4 & 5

Do you have one of those adorable little Singer Featherweight sewing machines? Dave McCallum is
coming back to teach another hands-on class on machine maintenance June 18th and 19th. Learn all the

This big quilted bag is the perfect way to
carry or store your quilts. Use purchased pre-quilted fabric or quilt
your own. (Want a smaller size/ Make the smaller version!). Bags
feature covered seams, pockets and a strap that goes all around the bag
for added strength. The top edges have dowels to cover the contents for
protection.

time. This is an easy project for any skill level.

Come and learn all about your machine!
We will take the time to play with the stitches, feet and sewing techniques. Elna 7200 or 7300 machine required. Workbook optional.
Class is free if machine purchased from GQ, $30 if machine purchased

of 3 required to hold this class.
English Paper Piecing $30
Wed. June 2, 10:00 to 3:00
This is the perfect take-along project.
Use pre-cut paper pieces for additional ease
or cut your own. Sew or lightly glue the fabric
around the edges of the pieces and you are ready
to sew the pieces together. Note: This is a hand sewing class.

This quilt is assembled using a
‘quilt-as-you-go’ technique. The piecing
method allows you to complete the quilting as you
assemble each block. Sew the blocks together and you’re done!

This class is hands-on, and will teach

yourself! There is a max of 10 students

Tuesday June 8, 10:00 to 3:00
This is the quilt for you if you are a beginner,
want a quick and easy pattern and doesn’t require a lot of thinking.
Only two colors are used and the cutting and stitching is easy and
straightforward. The only requirements are basic sewing skills and
the ability to use a rotary cutter. If you are more interested in baby
quilts, I also have instructions for a miniature size.

tips and ideas to make it easier for you to get it just right. We will
be using one of Barbara’s Springtime Symphony stencils so choose

To needle felt you poke a variety of fibers with a barbed needle
until the fibers cling to each other. Not only is it fun but it can be
a great stress reducer! Learn the basics of needle felting while
creating this needle holder.

“A place for everything and everything in its place.”
Now you can organize your sewing supplies to travel
or to hang over a chair arm. There are pockets and a
large pincushion as well as ribbons to hold your thread or scissors. It folds up and
closes with Velcro to keep your supplies contained and is easy to carry with you.
Change the pockets to make an “over the chair caddy” for remotes, books or whatever you like to keep at hand.
Quick & Easy Puff Quilts

This is a fast and simple dimensional quilt.
Each square has a little bit of stuffing to make it
look like hundreds of little pillows sewn together.

Add Fusible Quick Bias and machine top stitching to
create an elegant table topper or slice it to make a tree skirt.

a rag quilt. This class is great for the person
who needs some basic sewing and quilting skills.

this class! It is so easy! Your shape will be determined, you will get a pattern

It is based on the body shape concept that is discussed in detail in her book “Your
Shape, Your Clothes and You – Secrets of a Successful Wardrobe”. In addition,

You will love this jacket – it is so easy! You will learn your body shape and the
correct pattern to select. It can be a simple jacket with no lining or can be fully
lined, even have buttons – however, there is no tailoring. Basic construction
technique will also be demonstrated. Go home with a great fitting pattern that
you can use for all your future creative embellishment techniques.

Lake Forest. Each block is now available
as single patterns or kits! Make one or make them all!
You can pick your own fabric! Take advantage of 10% discount on
your fabric, books, patterns & notions for blocks and any other
projects on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
At 9:00 am on the 3rd Saturday of each month we will introduce that month’s
block and give a short demonstration of a technique or tool that can be used
to make that block.
We would like to encourage you to work on a non-traditional setting
for your sampler quilt. Instead of nice tidy rows, scatter your various sized
blocks and fill in the space in-between with smaller “filler” blocks. They
can be 2”, 4” or 6” blocks or whatever sizes you choose. They can be nine
patches, flying geese, miniature blocks, foundation-pieced blocks,
appliqués or anything else that captures your imagination! Every month
if you bring in new filler blocks you receive an extra drawing ticket for
each block towards that month’s door prize.
Our Hugs group is still doing community outreach quilts. If you bring a
12” block to donate you get an extra drawing ticket towards that month’s
door prize. Red, White and Blue is still a favorite or each month we
will suggest a color group for the next block.
