– The European Festival Association
Founded in November 1998 – Today representing over 70 members from 26 countries.
Yourope members are dedicated to improving the European festival scene in terms of:
•
•
•
•
•
working conditions
health and safety issues
environmental awareness
exchange of knowledge and information
promoting the cross-border exchange of live music talent
The overall aim of the association is to collaborate, share experiences and to pinpoint areas
that would benefitfrom a joint approach. Having gained respect within the industry and at
government level, Yourope also has the power to lobby for all legal and industry issues relating
to the European festival industry on behalf of its members and together with other associations
in the live music business.
Yourope also focuses on other key issues for festivals – such exchange of information regarding
marketing and sponsoring, contracts, production riders or radio/TV/internet rights and more.
The members will meet between September 22-24, 2011 at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg for
a 2nd members meeting with a full day of workshops to exchange information.
– European Talent Exchange Program
Yourope is also a founding partner of the European Talent Exchange Program and has been
active during the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival for many years. ETEP stimulates the circulation
of European artists within Europe by performing at selected festivals troughout Europe.
The result is impressing:
Every year more than 200 confirmed shows by over 70 unique European artists from at least
20 countries at the 60 ETEP festivals! www.etep.nl
Due to financial support from the European Commission for the next five years Eurosonic
Noorderslag, Yourope and all other participating partners will be able to continue the already
successful ETEP program and develop it. In the next years we will be able to add more festivals and create more results for the selected ETEP acts and festivals and work on better
opportunities and border breaking carriers for European Artists in Europe.
– Yourope Event Safety Group
Since 2006, Yourope has organised ten health & safety seminars for festival security staff from
all over Europe. Headed by a steering comiteee around Chris Kemp from Bucks New University
an Hendrik Bondo Nielsen from the Roskilde Festival, the seminars and workshops have had a
big impact on Yourope in recent years.
The YES group in cooperation with the Buckinghamshire New University (Bucks) are also pleased to
announce the launch of the Professional Certificate in Event Safety and Security Management.

Public Panel in October 2011 at MaMa Conference, Paris (France)

– Green’n’Clean
Yourope’s environmental guidelines for music festivals (since 2006).
The online tool is providing festival organisers with customised environmental advice
plus a “Green‘n‘Clean Award” for festivals who achieve a defined number of criteria. So far,
over 30 Yourope members have achieved the “Green’n’Clean Award”.
Since 2009, Yourope co-promoted three seminars for “Sustainable Management” at Bucks New
University in cooperation with agreenerfestival.com, Julie’s Bicycle and Theresa Moore from Bucks
New University and in November 2010 at the Green Events Conference in Bonn.
Yourope is a founding member of the Green Operations (GO) Group. The Green Operations (GO)
Group is an independent, pan European and cross industry think-tank to inspire people in the
music festival and event industry to run their operations greener and smarter. Initiated in November
2010 by Bucks University, GreenEvents Conference, Green Music Initiative (GMI) and Yourope
at the 1st International GreenEvents Conference in Bonn. The first GO Group workshop took place in
Amsterdam from the 23rd – 24th May 2011. The next meeting will be during the 2nd International
GreenEvents Conference in Bonn on November 2–3, 2011.
Yourope members get a special discount!
– Virtual Festivals Europe
In 2008 Yourope launched the first pan-European Festival portal in co-operation with
Virtual Festivals, connecting the entire European festival market on one website!
