Rosecliff
548 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, Rhode Island
Nothing makes an event more special than holding it in a mansion. Whether a business
meeting, intimate cocktail party or seated dinner for hundreds, the Newport Mansions
can provide the right venue for your event.
Ballroom
Terrace and Fountain
With Newport's largest private ballroom, Rosecliff was constructed in 1902 as a party
pavilion for one of the leading society hostesses of the Gilded Age, and continues in that
tradition today. Seating as many as 350 for dinner, Rosecliff can accommodate just
about any kind of corporate event or private party you have in mind.
This snow-white fantasy in terra-cotta, modeled after the Grand Trianon at Versailles,
was created for Theresa Fair Oelrichs, heir to the Comstock silver lode. After the house
was completed, at a reported cost of $2.5 million, it hosted many of the most fabulous
entertainments of the Gilded Age, including a fairy tale dinner and a party featuring
magician Harry Houdini. In more recent years, the house has become a popular
Hollywood stage set, doubling for Jay Gatsby's home in "The Great Gatsby" with
Robert Redford, a foreign embassy in "True Lies" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger,
and even the White House for Steven Spielberg's "Amistad", among others.
This incredible setting can transform your private event into the most memorable
occasion for you and your guests.
