Robert S. Sparrer
Bobby Sparrer, a beloved member of our club, passed away on Saturday morning (August 11, 2012). Please
join us in extending condolences to Zora and their family.
Portsmouth - Robert "Bobby" Sparrer, 67, passed away in his home on August 11, 2012, after a courageous
battle with cancer. He was born on December 7, 1944. He was the son of the late Milton and Bertha
Sparrer.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years Zora; a daughter Denise Gilkerson and her
husband Chris; a son Greg; twin brother Bill; older brother Donnie; a sister Barbara Ann Crider; sisters-inlaw Jackie Carr and husband John, and Nadine Miltier and husband Harvey; nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Bobby was a Millwright for 43 years and retired in 2006 from Millwright Local #1402. After retiring, he worked at nuclear power
outages in Surry and North Anna, VA. He enjoyed playing golf, riding his Harley motorcycle and traveling. He loved music and
loved listening and shag dancing to his favorite band Cooling Out.
Bobby was a very kind and trusting man. He was a friend to everyone and always thought about others before himself. The family
would like to thank friends, neighbors and Hospice caregivers for their prayers and kindness.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will follow in
Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Contributions may be made to
the Salvation Army.
Bobby will be greatly missed. We love you.

From our N-Telos Chairman …
We had a very successful year at N-Telos this year. This success was due to the many dedicated members
who volunteered their time and efforts to work the events, rain or shine. With the efforts of these
members, Boogie on the Bay Shag Club will be able to accomplish some of our goals for this upcoming year.
When you see any of these folks, please thank them for their efforts. I would like to add my personal thanks
for their hard work and support this year.
