Shag Rag October 2007 Vol. XIIII, No 10 Dedicated to the Preservation of the Carolina Shag and Beach Music PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE by David Rodgers The NVSC Nominating and Elections Committee members have begun contacting NVSC members to ask who wants to volunteer to run for one of the officer or director-atlarge positions for the 2008 NVSC Board of Directors. The business of running the affairs of NVSC and planning all the activities and events for the Club is the responsibility of the Board of Directors. If you want to be a candidate for one of the positions on the 2008 NVSC Board of Directors, talk with one of the members of the Nominating and Elections Committee. On Sunday afternoon, October 14th, NVSC will have a Sunday Social at Rene’s from 3:00-7:00 PM. Come to Rene’s that afternoon and enjoy an afternoon of dancing, a free dance lesson and a free buffet for NVSC members. A cover charge of $6.00 will be charged for NVSC members and guests. See the flyer in this newsletter for more details. SOS Fall Migration at North Myrtle Beach drew large crowds of Shaggers from clubs throughout the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs. II. ELECTION PROCESS AND PROCEDURES A. Nominees are encouraged to campaign for the positions for which they have been nominated. Members who are not on the ballot may choose to campaign for their favorite candidate(s). The term campaign refers to an organized effort to inform members about the campaigner's choice(s). If a member, or group of members choose to campaign, they are urged to do so openly, informing as many voters as possible. We are a social club, made up of volunteers, and as such should conduct ourselves in a spirit of camaraderie and good fellowship. Positive campaigning is encouraged. The information contained in this paragraph regarding campaigning will be included in the Corporation's newsletter along with the publication of the official NVSC list of nominees. In addition, at the fourth quarterly meeting of the members, after the Nominating and Elections Committee has presented its list of nominees to the members; the President or Committee chairperson, will instruct all members to review the campaigning guidelines outlined in this paragraph.
