Trends? Historical, time travel, urban fantasy, self-help? What’s the next big
thing? Workshops at writers’ conferences range from Advertising on Facebook
to Researching the Amish. Being a hybrid— both independently and traditionally
published, Esther is happy to chat about what’s going on and best guesses as to

Esther Erman: Basically a Jersey girl, Esther has lived
in the lovely Bay Area for the last two decades with her
second (and last!) husband. A long-time language teacher
(first French, then English), Esther’s always been a voracious
reader. Writing seemed like a natural extension of her
love of language and books. Now she writes under three
names—a wonderful way to handle what might otherwise
be an unfortunate penchant toward multiple personalities.
Mardi Ballou, for the sexy romance; Meg Bellamy, for
mainstream romance and “women’s” stories; Esther Erman,
for Jewish history. With a daughter in New Jersey and a
son in England, Esther has become a frequent flyer. She
loves to cook, bake, indulge in fabric arts, and has achieved
world championship status in retail therapy.
