For over 100 years the Southampton Fresh Air Home has provided a unique and caring residential
camping experience for physically challenged children. Our fundraising benefits ensure that no
child is turned away because of financial need. Most of our children come from the five boroughs
of New York City, and our programs are an opportunity for these children to have a sleep away
camp experience. At the same time, it gives their families a rest from the intensive daily care a
special needs child requires.
For the past 16 years, the Decorators-Designers-Dealers Benefit Gala event has been one of the
highlights of the Hamptons’ summer social season. It features a Furniture and Furnishings Sale,
Live, Silent and Wine Auctions, and hosts approximately 500 people from Manhattan, Connecticut,
Palm Beach, and, of course, the Hamptons. Prominent names in fashion, design, jewelry, travel,
wine, fine dining, health, beauty, and entertainment have generously donated to this event. We
are very proud and pleased and extremely grateful to everyone for their committed support.
As we greet another fabulous 2008 season, we open our doors and our hearts to our entire
community of residents, visitors, guests and patrons who come together in support of our mission.
We welcome you, and for the children we will serve this summer, we thank you!
The catalog cover painting is reproduced with the generous permission of the artist, Jonny Detiger.

SALE AND AUCTIONS BENEFIT GALA
Dormitories Project: Welcome to the first DDD Benefit in our new dormitories. We extend special
thanks to Ashley McGraw Architects, Atlantic Collaborative Construction Company, and South
Fork Gardening and Landscaping, who worked tirelessly to ensure that these five new buildings,
completed in nine months, are ready for this summer’s campers.
2008 DDD Leaders: The guiding spirits of our 2008 event are Chairmen Susan Nappa Cocke and
Pamela Rollins Camacho, Auction Co-Chairmen Christine Smith Gray and Lavinia Branca Snyder,
and Design and Decoration Chairman Ann R. Grimm. They have led the dozens of volunteers and
supporters who have worked tirelessly to create the magic that is this year’s DDD.
Our Design Team: Credit for today’s success must go to our marvelous team of designers who each
year transform your generosity into a magical showcase. One year preceding this event they begin
collecting, to produce the show of entirely donated furniture and furnishings. Without their brilliance
and downright hard work there would be no event. We are indeed grateful. We give special thanks

Wine
900One Case 1997 Anderson’s Conn Valley Eloge Cabernet Sauvignon
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 132
Dec 2000 Robert Parker 93 Drink 2000 – 2015 $80-$100 . The finest Eloge to date is the
1997, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Merlot. This
wine has put on weight since last year (a tendency of all of the Conn Valley wines). It
reveals a complex, Cheval Blanc-like nose of black fruits intermixed with chocolate, cedar,
licorice, and Asian spices. A classic, it is deep, opulent, and medium to full-bodied, with
admirable balance between power and elegance. Possessing exceptional purity, an alluring
texture, and a long, smooth finish, it can be drunk now or cellared for 15 or more years.
Value: $950

901One Magnum 1999 Caldwell Proprietary Red Wine
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 142
Aug 2002 Robert Parker 91 Drink 2002 – 2014 $64-$150. The opaque purple-colored
1999 (a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and 22% Syrah) is a surprisingly
large-scaled offering, yet possesses plenty of nuances as well as elegance. It offers notes
of cassis, blackberries, and licorice, a terrific texture, and copious quantities of sweet
tannin. This dense, opulent, provocative 1999 will have a huge following given its sweet
fruit, complex aromatics and flavors, and seamless finish. It is a brilliant achievement for
the vintage. It will drink well for 10-12 years. This is a very impressive offering. There are
approximately 800 cases of this proprietary blend from a 20-30-year old southern Napa
vineyard planted near Coombsville. Made by winemaking consultant Philippe Melka,
it is an impressive efforts that see 50-75% new French oak, and is bottled with minimal
clarification. The packaging (a fascinating, heavy, designer bottle) may be inspiring, but the
real excitement is in the bottle.
Value: $150

902One Case 1996 Calera Pinot Noir Mills Vineyard
RobertParker.com # E2003
Apr 2003 Robert Parker 90 Drink 2003 – 2011
One of the deepest colored wines of this vertical, the 1996 possesses abundant aromas of
black cherries, earth, and a cherry cough syrup-like flavor profile with tremendous depth
as well as tannin, body, and muscle. Not the most delicate or elegant of these Mills Pinots,
it is one of the beefiest and richest. It should drink well for another 7-8 years.
Value: $550.

903One Half Case of Half Bottles (375 ml.) Calera 2005 Viognier
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 166
Aug 2006 Robert Parker 90 $28-$32. Always a top-flight, beautiful Viognier, Calera’s 2005
exhibits litchi, apricot, and white peach-like characteristics along with medium to full
body, a hint of minerals and flowers, and a well-delineated style.
Value: $200
Donors: Emily and Tom Mahoney
904One Case 1997 Chevigny Pascal Champs Perdrix Vielles Vignes Reserve
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 125
Oct 1999 Pierre Rovani 91 Drink 2002 - 2012 $55. The medium-to-dark ruby-colored 1997
Vosne-Romanee Champs-Perdrix Vieilles Vignes Reserve displays sweet black fruit scents.
This is a huge, chewy, masculine, medium-to-full-bodied wine densely packed with tar,
cassis, chocolate, and super sweet tannins. Structured with the potential for long-term aging,
this muscle-bound, thickly-textured effort should be drunk between 2002 and 2012+.
Value : $650
Donors: Emily and Tom Mahoney
905One Case 2003 Domaine Daniel Dampt Chablis “Vaillons”
Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com Issue 16
Tasting note: Aromatically ripe but this is easily the most classical nose to this point with
intense green fruit aromas combining with oyster shell and iodine notes that precede ripe
and spicy flavors that an utterly delicious and complex finish. This is exuberantly sappy
with excellent concentration and only a touch of warmth prevents this from receiving a
higher mark.
Tasted: Oct 01, 2004 Score: 90 Drink: 2005+- Comments: Outstanding! Top value
Value : $350
906One Case 2005 Failla Viognier Alban Vineyard
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 168
Dec 2006 Robert Parker 91 Drink 2006 - 2008 $40-$49 It is not easy to fashion Viognier
into a complex wine, but Ehren Jordan has handled this fickle varietal beautifully. His 2005
Viognier Alban Vineyard boasts notes of quince, crushed rocks, white flowers, and exotic
tropical fruits in its well-defined aromatics. Dry, medium-bodied, and intensely fruity, this
fresh, character-filled white can be enjoyed over the next 1-2 years as it is atypically complex
for a California Viognier.
Value : $350

907Five Magnums 1992 Girard Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 92
Apr 1994 Robert Parker (92-95) Drink 1994 - 2014 Girard continues to rank among the
most consistent producers of top-flight Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The major difference
between the regular bottling (Napa) and the Reserve is that the latter exhibits a more
obvious use of oak and it is more concentrated and tannic. The Reserve offers a blast of
sweet cassis fruit. Smoky, subtlely herbaceous, vanillin, and cassis flavors are presented in
an intense, full-bodied, richly concentrated style. Gobs of tannin are balanced by copious
quantities of rich, succulent fruit. This large-scaled, tannic, massive Cabernet Sauvignon
will be one of the slower developing wines of the vintage. It is a likely candidate for 20 or
more years of evolution.
Value: $750
Donors: Emily and Tom Mahoney
908One Case 1997 Kalin Cellars Pinot Noir Cuvee DD
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 174
Dec 2007 Robert Parker 91 $42 The Burgundy-styled 1997 Pinot Noir Cuvee DD
exhibits smoky, gamy, forest floor, herb, fresh mushroom, meat, plum, fig, and cherry
characteristics. Made in a northern Cote de Nuits style with zesty acidity, ripe tannin, and
a dark plum/garnet color, this beautiful wine should last for another decade. Terry Leighton
must be the most singular and distinctive wine producer in California, and we’re all better
off for it. The idiosyncratic Terry Leighton, who has produced some magnificent wines that
have stood the test of time for nearly two decades, releases his wines 2-10 years later than
most producers. I have always loved them, and I have been remiss in not reporting on
them as frequently as I should.
Value: $450
Donors: Emily and Tom Mahoney
909One Case 2004 Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Volnay
‘Caillerets – Clos des Soixante Ouvrees’
Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com Issue 22
Tasting note: A slightly riper blackberry and violet nose nuanced by an enticing sweetness
dissolves into round, rich and very generous flavors that coat the mouth and here the
character of the tannins is completely different as they’re silky, textured and refined without
being soft. This does display a subtle trace of backend warmth but this is a really pretty
effort and one which should reward up to a decade in the cellar.
Tasted: Apr 01, 2006 Score: 90 Drink: 2012+
Value : $900

910One Case La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 175
Feb 2008 Jay Miller 92 Drink 2008 - 2015 $41-$68 The 1995 Gran Reserva 904 exhibits
an aged appearance belying its vibrant perfume of cedar, pencil lead, mineral, leather,
black cherry, and blackberry liqueur. The epitome of elegance and style, on the palate the
wine is silky and seems to dance across the palate. The tannins are unresolved but this
wine has enough balance to drink well through 2015. La Rioja Alta continues to be one of
the benchmarks for traditionally produced Rioja. What the wines may lack in power, they
make up for in finesse and complexity.
Value: $600

911Six Magnums 1999 Luna Canto Proprietary Red Wine
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 142
Aug 2002 Robert Parker 90 Drink 2002 - 2012 $60 (60) The most serious red is Luna’s
proprietary Tuscan blend (primarily Sangiovese, Merlot, and a tiny dollop of Cabernet
Sauvignon that sees 60% new oak) called Canto. The 1999 Canto is a 1,000-case blend of
54% Sangiovese, 38% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. Its dense garnet/plum color
is followed by sweet aromas of saddle leather, fresh tobacco, black currants, cherries,
scorched earth, and spice. It is a complex, super-Tuscan look-alike. This medium to fullbodied 1999 can be cellared for a decade.

912Two Bottles 2000 Martinelli Chardonnay Woolsey Road
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 142
Aug 2002 Robert Parker 91 $60 The intriguing, earthy, leesy, smoked beer nut aromas of
the 2000 Chardonnay Woolsey Road belies its medium gold color. It has great up-front
fruit, wonderful sweetness and flesh, and a long, full-bodied, concentrated finish.
Value: $70

913Two Bottles 2000 Martinelli Chardonnay Martinelli Road
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 142
Aug 2002 Robert Parker 90 Drink 2002 - 2008 $80 (40) Readers looking for a grand cru
Chablis-like white should check out the steely, liquid minerality of the 2000 Chardonnay
Martinelli Road. It reveals some tropical fruit notes, but the crisp acidity and high-toned
mineral notes make for an intriguing, distinctive, full-bodied, intense Chardonnay. It should
drink well for 5-6 years.

914Two Magnums 1997 Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines Reserve
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 141
Jun 2002 Robert Parker 87 Drink 2007 - 2022 $48 The dark ruby/purple-colored 1997
Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vine Reserve offers tight, unexpressive aromatics that reveal hints
of minerals and black fruit. Although austere, this wine is elegant, medium-bodied, pure,
and finely crafted, with black currant and cherry fruit. It will need 5-6 years of cellaring
and will keep for 15-20.

915Two Magnums 1997 Mount Eden Chardonnay Estate 25th Aniversary
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 120
Dec 1998 Robert Parker (91-92) Drink 1998 - 2008 $36 (36) The 1997 Chardonnay 25th
Anniversary, which is given full malolactic fermentation and aged in all French oak, of
which 50% is new, is bottled without fining or filtration. While I do not believe this wine
possesses the intensity, richness, or longevity of the 1996, it is nevertheless an outstanding
wine. It possesses a complex, honeysuckle, and citrusy-scented nose with subtle oak and
a pronounced mineral component. Full-bodied, with superb fruit purity, fine underlying
acidity, and a long finish, it should last for a decade.

916Six Bottles 1997 Newton Merlot
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 120
Dec 1998 Robert Parker (90-92) Drink 1998 - 2010 $50-$60 (32) The 1997 Merlot
Unfiltered (produced from a severely thinned crop) possesses a saturated ruby color, and
a lovely nose of sweet black cherry fruit intermixed with herbs, minerals, and spice. Lush,
ripe, and fragrant, this forward Merlot should be accessible when released, and last for
12 or more years.Newton was one of the first California wineries to produce high quality,
ageworthy Merlot made in an elegant style, with admirable character, richness, and depth.
All of the Newton wines are fermented with natural yeasts in order to obtain more complex
aromatics. The malolactic fermentations take place in barrel to promote greater integration
of wood, and to encourage more textural richness in the wines. All of the wines, including
the Chardonnay, are bottled without filtration.

intermixed with intense orange marmalade, peach, and apricot scents. It is an intense, fullthrottle Chardonnay from a cool micro-climate. Drink it during its first 7-8 years of life.

918One Case 1994 Rockland Estate Petite Sirah
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 107
Oct 1996 Robert Parker 92 Drink 1996 - 2016 $18-$20 This wine is from the family estate
of Mark Aubert, the talented winemaker at the Peter Michael winery. The black/purplecolored, nearly opaque 1994 Petite Sirah is another terrific example of this varietal from
Rockland. A big, smoky, peppery, black fruit-scented nose is followed by a full-bodied,
super-concentrated wine that is surprisingly soft, without any noticeable astringent tannin
or sharp acidity. The wine can be drunk now, although it is very undeveloped and not far
removed from tasting like a barrel sample. It should age effortlessly for 12-20 years.

919One Case Pax Cellars 2004 Syrah Cuvee Christine
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate # 168
Dec 2006 Robert Parker 90 Drink 2006 - 2011 $51-$90 There are 600 cases of the 2004
Syrah Cuvee Christine, a selection from various vineyards. Kept 17 months in mostly
new French oak, and bottled without fining or filtration (the general practice at Pax), it is
a lovely, forward, fruity Syrah offering notes of white chocolate, black currants, smoke,
roasted herbs, and licorice. This is a full-bodied, fleshy, succulent effort to drink over the
next 4-5 years.

924One Case of Oreg Hill 2005 Badascony Olaszriesling Gold Medal Winner
Oreg Hill’s Olaszriesling won the gold medal for its 2005 vintage! Olaszriesling, which
literally translated from Hungarian means Italian Riesling, is a white wine grape that--in spite of its spelling---is not related to the true Riesling grapes common to Austria and
Germany; it is in fact a distinctly separate variety with a light, slightly floral bouquet, and
the refreshing taste of citrus and stone fruits such as apricots. It is ideal for summer lunches
and picnics in the fall, but it is not long lived and should be consumed within two years of
the harvest.

A Bordeaux Blend Dry Red Table Wine from St Emilion, Bordeaux, France
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate#171 June 2007 Robert Parker 91 Drink 2007 – 2022
An elegant, pretty Quinault, the 2004 displays a dense ruby/purple color along with a big,
rich nose of licorice, black raspberries, cherries, and spice. This blend of 71% Merlot,
17% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec possesses an excellent
texture, beautiful elegance and complexity, and no hard edges. A seamlessly made, suppletextured, evolved, forward effort, it can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15 years. This is a
very strong effort in a challenging vintage.

927One Case 2003 Domaine/Maison Colin-Deléger 750 ml
Chassagne-Montrachet “Les Chenevottes” Premier Cru White Note: from very old vines,
some of which date back to the 1920s Producer note: Bruno Colin told me that the
domaine lost fully 50% of the crop due to springtime frost and summertime heat. Because
the skins were so thick and the liquid to solid ratio so low, the total cuvaison was limited
to only 10 days. There were fewer punch downs and extraction came about more from
pump overs than anything else. The wines saw approximately one-third new wood and
were bottled iin December, which is about 3 months earlier than usual. (Kermit Lynch,
Berkeley, CA and Diageo Château and Estate Wines, New York, NY; Richards Walford,
Berry Brothers & Rudd, Bibendum, Lay & Wheeler and Berkmann Wine Cellars, all UK).
Note: Long time admirers of the Domaine will be interested to know that as of the 2004
vintage, the destructive nature of the French inheritance system will have struck again. This
is because Michel’s two sons, Bruno and Philippe have decided to take their respective
portions of the Domaine so that they can take advantage of certain benefits in the French
tax code. As of 2004, there will be three domaines with three different labels as a result
of the split with Michel keeping the Chevalier-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet “Les
Demoiselles” and part of the Chassagne-Montrachet “En Remilly”; these three parcels will
only total .70 ha so it really will be more of a hobby than anything else. Philippe’s domaine
after the split will be approximately 10 ha and Bruno’s 8.5 ha, though Bruno will get 100%
of the Puligny “Truffières”.
Tasting note: Exceptionally ripe yet elegant orchard fruit notes complement forward, sweet
and rich flavors that also possess really lovely old vine sap and intensity with the same
slightly bitter finish.

928One Bottle 2005 Kongsgaard Chardonnay
A Chardonnay Dry White Table Wine from Napa, North Coast, California, USA
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate #174
Dec. 2007 Robert Parker 95 Drink 2007-2017
A stunning effort, the 2005 Chardonnay boasts copious notes of floral, honeysuckle, and orange
oil offered in a full-bodied white. It possesses terrific acidity, a striking terroir-based minerality,
and beautiful delineation as well as purity. This is a large-scaled yet remarkably fresh wine with
the balance and grace of a world-class ballerina. Enjoy it over the next decade.
John Kongsgaard’s Chardonnays come from the family’s 9-acre, high elevation, cool
climate, Coombsville vineyard in southern Napa. His Syrah’s emerge from the Hudson
Vineyard, a special block that was planted to his specifications.

929One Bottle 1989 Palmer
A Bordeaux Blend Dry Red Table Wine from Margaux, Bordeaux, France
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate #109
Feb. 1997 Robert Parker 95 Drink 1997-2022
Palmer’s 1989 is one of the vintage’s great successes. The wine exhibits a dark ruby/purple
color, a sweet, jammy nose of black fruits, intermingled with floral scents, licorice, and a
touch of truffles. Full-bodied and supple, with low acidity, copious quantities of ripe fruit
and glycerin, and a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, harmonious, seamless texture,
this is a gorgeous Palmer. It may turn out similar to this estate’s brilliant 1962 and 1953.
Although approachable, it will improve for another decade, and last for 20-25 years

930 One Bottle 1983 Chateau Margaux
A Bordeaux Blend Dry Red Table Wine from Margaux, Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition #B1
Jan. 1998 Robert Parker 96 Drink 2002-2030
The 1983 Margaux is a breathtaking wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes achieved
perfect maturity in 1983, and the result is an astonishingly rich, concentrated, atypically
powerful and tannic Margaux. The color is dark ruby, the aromas exude ripe cassis fruit,
violets, and vanillin oakiness, and the flavors are extremely deep and long on the palate
with a clean, incredibly long finish. This full-bodied, powerful wine remains stubbornly
backward and at least 5-6 years away from maturity. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2030. Last
tasted 9/97
Value: $1,000. approx.

A Bordeaux Blend Dry Red Table wine from Margaux, Bordeaux, France
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate #129
June 2000 Robert Parker 89 Drink 2000-2010
This wine has turned out far better than predicted. The 1982 has become more delineated
and put on weight. The 1982 is a juicy, complex, Pomerol-inspired effort with abundant black
cherry and black currant fruit presented in a medium to full-bodied, plump, straightforward
style. Fleshy, fresh, and lively, it should be consumed over the next 7-10 years.

933 One Bottle 1985 Haut Brion
A Bordeaux Blend Dry Red Table wine from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition #B1
Jan. 1998 Robert Parker 94 Drink 1997-2010
This has always been one of the more seductive, savory, complex Haut-Brions of the eighties.
My notes have always suggested that it is the quintessentially elegant, finesse-styled HautBrion. The color remains a deep ruby/purple with slight lightening at the edge. The knockout nose of intense jammy black fruits, smoke, cedar, herbs, and new oak is followed by
a generously concentrated, rich, gorgeously proportioned and layered Haut-Brion with no
hard edges. Everything - alcohol, acidity, tannin - is beautifully integrated into the seamless
personality of the 1985. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted 10/97
