Club One-Design Fleet Fleet Racing Team Racing Match Racing The J/70 With its ease of handling, the J/70 offers one of the most versatile sailing platforms of any boat: family day sailing, local club racing, regional and national regattas, national and world championships. Great for adult learn to sail programs and for cross-training youth sailors on keelboats. With an experienced driver and 3 novices you can race at local and national levels. Easy to get up to speed. The J/70 is a perfect bridge between a dinghy and a traditional keelboat. 2 For All Ages Sailors ranging from 10 to 70+ years old have skippered J/70s in class events, and over twenty teams sailed with two or more family members in the 2014 World Championship. The J/70 delivers high performance with a comfortable groove. The low VCG bulb keel and balanced hull provide exceptional stability in stronger winds. Sailing a J/70 at a national level requires skill but not a lot of strength. This feature makes the J/70 the boat of choice for women’s and youth sailing events. Easy to Transport & Store Easy to trailer behind the family SUV, with combined boat/trailer weight under 3,000 lbs. Single axle trailer is highly maneuverable in tight parking lots. Launch by boat ramp or with a single point lift. Flexible storage options – dry sail, marina dock or mooring. With optional outboard engine and no other systems, the J/70 has very low maintenance costs. 4 Tough & Safe The hull is constructed of Lloydsapproved Baltek end-grain balsa with Eglass structural skins to exceed requirements of ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) and ISO Structural Standards. All molds are made from J/Boats provided or approved plugs. Builders utilize standard laminate specifications and are required to build within published class tolerances regarding boat weight, keel/rudder weight and shape, and equipment specifications. The mast is a tapered carbon spar from Southern Spars which is deck-stepped (aluminum internal support post) and supported by swept back carbon spreaders and wire standing rigging. 5 The Inside Story Hull of biaxial and unidirectional E-glass with balsa for durability. Solid E-glass bow and bow knuckle. Deck of biaxial E-glass with Corecell and high density core inserts. Five transverse composite bulkheads. Two longitudinal structural members. Keelbox molded integrally to hull and spanning to the deck/cockpit. Inward turning and overlapping hull-todeck joint bonded with Plexus. Quick, stiff, ramp-launchable, and priced right, the J/70 checked all the BOTY boxes as it sailed its way to the top of the judges' lists. Behold our 2013 Boat of the Year.” European Boat of the Year 2013: “… the J/70 swayed the panel with a flawless showing during the test days in Italy. Good acceleration, easy and precise on the helm, featuring a simple yet functional layout and a very effective sail plan, the J/70 will excite racing sailors and family crews alike. It’s the first J/Boat with a lifting keel, and it’s turned into a smashing success.” J Boats History Started in 1977, J/Boats continues to lead the world in designing fun-to-sail, easy-to-handle, performance sailboats that can be enjoyed by a broad spectrum of sailors.
