After the meetings, a poll was released to the fancy/judges/clubs/ Delegates for a review and vote. As a result of the polling and review by the staff, the recommendations for change were presented to the AKC Board of Directors for their review in February/March 2015. The AKC Board has approved 75 changes/additions to the Obedience Regulations effective December 1, 2015. To view the regulation changes, please click on the link below. Obedience Regulation Changes The above link will take you to the AKC website where there are three documents posted: 1. Summary List - Identifying the 75 Regulation Changes, effective 12/01/2015. 2. Obedience Regulations & Judges Guidelines Changes – showing the items that were struck from and added to the regulations. 3. A Table of Contents for the Regulations – identifying the flow of how the new regulation booklet will be published. In general, these regulation changes are meant to clarify and bring greater consistency to current judging practices and event requirements, modify administrative procedures to make events more enjoyable for participants and represent a balanced attempt to positively impact the sport. Please share this information with the representatives responsible for the obedience events for your club. Sincerely, Pamela Manaton Gifts from the Heart Update As you all know, our Santa Photo fundraiser raised $400.00. We had approved a recipient but when we went to the vet, their bill had been paid in full. At that time I had asked the receptionist if she knew of anyone else that the club might be able to help with a gift. She promptly told us of Adrian Ortega and his mixed breed pit pull who had been hit by a car. The young man was not able to pay for the entire emergency surgery and East Lake Animal Hospital had agreed to let him make payments. So, after a quick discussion, Cheryl and I gave the gift to Adrian. The receptionist and others waiting in the waiting room could not believe that Monterey Bay Dog Training Club would make such a gift. Again, we would like to thank all the club members who took advantage of this opportunity to support Gifts from the Heart. As a reminder, Gifts from the Heart is a club project that Marilyn Runyan started many years ago. We will continue to support this project in Marilyn’s memory. The following members walked in our local walkathon: Crissy Hastings, Irene Fukutomi, Kathy Fujita, Luane Vidak, Joyce Finch, Alice Hansmann and Pam Strametz with Kipp who apprenticed driving his little red car. Former member Gretchen Kuepfer Jackson joined us. Students from Capitola classes that walked were: Barbara Skaggs), Cathy Vanderbilt (and husband Dick), Kami and Rod Mowbray with Kloe their Berner draft dog pulling her cart, Suzette Bruce and daughter Bridgette, Claire Kehm (and husband Doug) and guest Kimberly Dibiasi, Betsy Ranzono (and husband Paul) , Louis and Terri Brazil. Those unable to walk but donated to support Morris were: Terri and Garth Gregson, (Terri came to my rescue and set up the MBDTC team on the MAF website) Donna Gorman, Lynn Steele, Monica Meyer, Capitola students Edie Losch, Donna Lane, Candace McClaren. At the K9 Cancer Walk in Los Gatos the next day Luane Vidak , PJ Bay and Chiya Tomaki (and her husband) walked the 3 mile course with Hundreds of other handlers and their dogs. In all, we collect $907 to aid research. With luck, and more interest in supporting Morris, we will be able to match some of our record collections from the past when the 2016 fund drive rolls around. Thanks to Barbara Skaggs thoroughness, we had a lovely lunch in the lower patio of BURGER. (Aptos) which was reserved for us. Lots of room for the dogs, shade or sun, Buffet Slider lunch and lots of tables and chairs for all of us. Each dog went home with a wrapped hot dog with a thank you note attached.. …..most of which got yummed up before they got home! If you check the BURGER. Website, you’ll be seeing our group. Suzette Bruce will be sending along the requested photos to BURGER. before long. See you next year? Luane Vidak, chairman, Barbara Skaggs, co-chair.
